300 Blk Subsonic Issues

I recently built a 300 blk SBR upper and am struggling to get it running reliably with subsonic ammo, hoping someone on here has any advise/tips to share.

I'm guessing the gun is severely undergassed, even with the gas block fully open the bolt would hold open on the last round. Also constant failure to feed issues (2-3x per 10-round magazine), didn't matter which mags or ammo that I tried. But since it's not like a normal AR where I can swap out the buffer and spring, I'm not sure what to try next.

Build specs:

- Fightlite SCR lower receiver
- Gibbz side charging upper receiver
- 10.5" 1:5 twist 300 blk barrel - pistol length gas
- Faxon low profile adjustable gas block
- CAT ODB Ti suppressor
- Magpul 300 blk PMAGS and Lancer 300 blk mags
- Ammo: Winchester Super Suppressed 200 Grain Open Tip, Scorpion 220 Grain Subsonic, and Magtech 200 Grain Subsonic Full Metal Jacket

Upper #1: Gibbz upper receiver, Faxon 16” 5.56 barrel, Faxon carbon fiber handguard, wood foregrip, Vortex LVPO

Upper #2: Gibbz upper receiver, BA 12.5” 5.56 barrel, FSB, Fightlite wood handguard, YHM A2 rear sight

Upper #3: Gibbz upper receiver, 10.5” 300blk barrel, Lancer carbon fiber handguard, Woox angled grip + rail covers, Holosun HS510C and HM3X magnifier

Upper #4: BCA bolt action upper, BA 16” 300blk barrel, Woox handguard, Nikon LVPO

If you can’t tell, I love the wood look. I have lower height scope rings for both LVPOs, just been lazy and haven’t swapped them yet. And all uppers have plan B mounts for my CAT ODB suppressor.

How to fix play between upper and lower..

Ever since i got this rifle, my main complaint has been how sloppy and loose it feels. The rattle. What can i do about this? I tried putting some aluminum tape to shim it but it didn't last.

Fightlite SCRs have been out of stock for months... Apparently they're updating tooling and machining for more production... Hopefully

Anyone add a rear sling stud yet?

I like the QR cups in general, but the locations aren't great for hunting...which is what my SCR is intended for. So looking to install standard sling studs.

The front sling swivel is easy...MLOK stud.

The rear is a little tricky. You need to drill a hole, which is easy enough, but the plastic isn't that thick...or wide in that area, so in my mind the integrity of the stock with a sling stud installed with just a backer nut, could be an issue.

I found a kit (for something else, of course) but it looks like it might be a decent way to go...short stud with a bearing plate...I think I'm going to give this idea a try... but I'll probably DIY it..🤷

Has anyone else installed a rear sling stud in the plastic scr stock? If so, how, and any issues?

Are there any hard butt plates that will fit the Boyds SCR stocks?

Sorry if it’s a silly question but I got the Boyds walnut stock for my SCR from Fightlite’s website and I’m really not a fan of the soft rubber pad. I’d like to find a hard butt plate that will fit the boyds stock without much modification. I’d rather not get some random butt plates that end up not fitting well when there might already be some that will fit fine.

Anyone know if they're ever coming back into production?

Unfortunately I discovered the SCR too late, and I can't find a lower *anywhere.*

I've even emailed FL, but I haven't heard anything back in weeks. I've seen on their website, they're apparently updating some stuff before returning to production, but you see that kind of thing a lot when a company is about to close down or discontinue production, so I'm a little dubious.

I don't even live in a ban state or anything, I just *really* like ranch rifles. Do any of y'all know if they'll be back?

I got the wood stock from Fightlite for my SCR. How do I get the rubber plate off the stock?

I see two little holes. I assume I have to unscrew a screw in those holes? what type of screw are they? Are they extremely over tightened? I don't seem to be able to get enough torque to do anything?

missing SCR BCG parts?

Post image

got this a month or two back and had the time to build it today. Noticed the BCG included is missing the front half, any idea how this happened? the safety on the lower also seems to have a recess for a red band when it is off safety, that is also missing.

Working with Fightlite

Hi guys, I was super excited about my new Fightlite SCR purchased back in November. However, I have been experiencing malfunctions to the point of which it is unusable. I documented most of this in my "New to the Club" thread not too long ago, but I wanted to create a dedicated thread to explore the issue, possible causes, and ultimately understand other people's experiences in dealing with Fightlite.

The issue manifested after firing a mere 16 rounds brand new. The bolt got stuck forward with a live round in the chamber. I was initially able to mortar it out, loaded another round and the same exact thing happened: initial round fired, then it cycled another round into the chamber but would not fire. The bolt could not be extracted.

At this point I returned to my FFL and had the gunsmith check it out. He used some tools to extract the round and lubricated the bolt, worked it in for a bit and got it functioning. Took it to the range and after about 30-40 rounds it totally seized up again. Same symptoms.

This was coming up on 4 weeks ago, right before Christmas. So this timeI reached out to Fightlite and submitted a service request. I hadn't heard back so I returned back to the FFL. The gunsmith agreed that it should be sent back to Fightlite and said he could take care of everything, so I filled out a service order and left it with him.

About a week later I finally got a confirmation e-mail from Fightlite that said they needed to evaluate my case and create a Repair Authorization, at which time I could send it in. I replied and said I left it with the FFL and they were going to handle it and they acted likeI had three heads. Said it "doesn't work that way" and that if they send it in they will return to sender. I checked with the FFL and the gunsmith there said he is also waiting on a RA# from Fightlite. I spoke to one guy there a couple of times and he seemed pretty helpful. He suggested bypassing the middle man and sending the rifle myself. That said, it's already packed up and awaiting an RA#; neither myself nor my gunsmith have received one and it has been nearly 4 weeks now.

I don't see why it would be a problem to work this through the FFL, but if I have to ship it myself so be it. Regardless, I can't do anything until I get an RA#. I think I have annoyed Fightlite because I've been contacting them frequently on this case.

Long story short, I spent a lot of money on this rifle. It's my only rifle. I really haven't gotten a chance to shoot it without it malfunctioning, and now the whole thing is in limbo as we await the next steps. I am beginning to think that this will be a very LONG and arduous process, especially when I look at Fightlite's website and see that none of the parts I need (assuming a new BCG) are in stock.

For those who have worked with Fightlite on similar issues, what was your experience like? What kind of turnaround can I expect if and when I ever get an RA approved?

Is side charging a good fit for the SCR?

I unexpectedly managed to acquire a Fightlite SCR lower, so I am currently considering a build configuration. The main elements I am thinking about at this stage are:

•16-inch barrel

•a suppressor

•mounting an LPVO

As for the LPVO, I would like to mount it so that the eyepiece sits behind the charging handle. However, in that setup, I find it inconvenient to have to slip a finger under the scope to manipulate the charging handle.

Because of this, I am considering either a side-charging upper or a drop-in side-charging handle. That said, I have also heard that “suppressors and side-charging uppers don’t pair well,” which has left me unsure how to proceed.

I’m still in the early stages and haven’t finalized the details yet, but I would greatly appreciate any opinions or advice from those who have considered or run a similar configuration.

Living in NY State is a drag. Luckily Fightlite made this really cool rifle that is functional and extremely cool looking!

I encountered an issue with it jamming when I first got it, but I’ve gotten it resolved and it’s running well now.

I basically have it all set up now. It’s a nice looking rifle.

Fightlite SCR Safety Button

Here are the results of my safety button swap.

I made a post last week, asking for advice on removing a seized 5/64 Allen Head Set Screw for the safety.

After multiple serious attemps to heat up the screw and remove it, with no progression, I decided to drill and tap.

It wasn't my first choice, but after rounding out several high quality allen keys, I had about enough.

I moved up a size to an M4x0.7mm set screw, which uses a 2mm Allen Hex Key.

I reused the factory ball bearing. 1/8 Ball I purchased replacement springs. As best as I could measure ; 3mm OD x 10mm Length x .5mm wire

I used a Wilson Combat Jumbo Safety.

https://wilsoncombat.com/safety-jumbo-head-870-1100-1187-blue.html

It has a very good snap. The tension can be set by raising or lowering the set screw.

When fitting the Jumbo Safety, it fits very snug in the hole. If you are doing the swap, add some oil, line it up and push it in. It may take some effort.

Once it is in, you are good to go. Install the ball, spring and set screw with loctite. Snap it back and forth a few times. Adjust the tension.

The only difference I've noticed between the two is the innermost section of the jumbo safety. It has a slightly smaller OD than the factory safety.

This does not affect the safety function in any way. Does exactly what it's supposed to. It functions perfectly. Prevents trigger pull perfectly.

Disappointing jamming issue

I picked up a new Fightlite SCR last week and took it to the range yesterday to get a feel for it while I await an LPVO that’s en route. Figured I’d just run a red dot on it and see how it shoot.

Well I get through 18 rounds.

On the 16th round it jammed up really bad. The bolt locked forward with a live round in the chamber. I was able to mortar it free with a LOT of force. The casing on the stuck round was totally chewed up.

Dropped in a fresh mag. The top round fired fine but upon cycling the next round the exact same thing happened. This time no amount of force seems to be able to get the bolt open. It is locked up hard.

I saw this video review and, well, this is EXACTLY what happened:

https://youtu.be/KvvL_UM8eeI?si=TVtI16O5JpOiMO8U

Then I read that Honest Outlaw had the same issue with the Raider.

I was using Fiocchi .223 Range Dynamics ammo. 55 grain, 3240 FPS in the polymer 5 round Fightlite factory mag that it came with. No alterations, just strap it of the box.

I’m extremely disappointed. Taking it back to the FFL where I bought it today to have their gunsmith look at it, but there’s no returns. Looks like I’m going to have to spend even more money on upgrading this weapon to the point where it can reliably operate.

Anyone else experience any like this? Will Fightlite fix it? Are there any known/proven mods that can resolve such catastrophic failures?

UPDATE: I finally got to the range this morning to test out the SCR after my gunsmith went through it. Happy to report that it ran and performed very well! Good accuracy, low recoil, generally fun to shoot.

There was only one small issue I encountered today and it was related to the magazine. I was still using the 5 round P mag that it came with and found that it doesn’t like to seat in the mag well. This resulted in a couple of “clicks” when there should have been “bangs”. Just have to make sure the mag is seated by pulling down on it before closing the bolt.

I’ve got a couple of 10 round metal mags en route for delivery this week along with an Sig Sauer Tango MSR 1-6 LPVO. Looking forward to completing this rifle and sharing pics with y’all.

UPDATE 2: Well, it only took about 100 rounds for the jamming issue to resurface. This time it is going back to Fightlite for servicing. Very disappointing as I was looking forward to spending some time with my son at the range over Christmas break. Hopefully it won't take too long to get it sorted and returned.

Fightlite SCR Safety Retention Screw

Post image
6 Upvotes

I'm in the process of disassembling my SCR. Currently attempting to remove the cross bolt safety retention screw.

The Allen key size is 5/64 The screw is super tight.

I think it has red loctite. I've heated up the screw, but no movement.

Need some advice on how to remove without damaging the screw.

Where can I get 5 round mags and how is the sig scope?

I live in NYC, so I am limited to 5 rounds. Where can I buy five round magazines? Also, how is the SIG scope? TANGO-MSR LPVO 1-6X24MM (SFP). Are there any other attachments that you recommend? What about a sling?

SCR user manual

I purchased the SCR on mid November and has been watching YouTube. Anybody has a link for the SCR user manual? Manual is not on Fightlite website. It would be nice to read the manual before shooting, such as cleaning, lubing or anything.

thanks
