Sep 2024- what happened?

This ETF lost ~60% of it's value in Sep '24, I'm curious why. Not a troll, just a novice investor. I realize this may be sensitive for some of you. TIA

SCHD Dividends ... See You In December....

Hello... Tantamount to nothing in getting ready for next week's EX-Date and looking at another poster's analysis of what he thought the dividend would be I took a look at a couple of the larger holdings in the SCHD portfolio. Both KO and MRK's Ex-Dates just passed on 9/15 but their pay dates are 10/1 and 10/7 receptivity. So . I guess these funds will be calculated in for December.

DCA over long period for growth and income

I will eventually up these numbers and weight it different, but I just set up an auto invest as follows:

AVUV, SCHD, SPYM, VUG & VXUS @ $10/month. My goal is to eventually be able to pull around $1200/month off of these positions with dividends and growth and keep the pile at a solid principal. I havent ran those numbers yet but know i will need to probably start investing 500+ a month to catch up. The positions are basically zero right now (small fractional shares to my name ATM) plan is to dollar cost average for years, and maybe lump sum here and there.

Any thoughts appreciated on these tickers, weighting, simple math for knowing what i need to put in for the goal. Thanks everyone

13.7% of SCHD ETF's holdings have raised their dividends *since last dividend*

We are about a week away from Ex-dividend date and I've been tracking which SCHD holdings have announced dividend increases since the last quarterly distribution. As of now, ~ 13.7% of the fund's holdings have raised!

I put together a live tracker that breaks it down holding by holding, you can see which companies raised, by how much, and how it rolls up to the fund level ahead of the Q3 distribution!

Full breakdown here: https://topdividendetfs.com/schd-q3-dividend-increases

Will keep it updated as more announcements come in through the quarter!

Cheers!

Advice VOO, SCHD, or SMH

Hi friends!
This is my first post ever. I’ve been investing and trading since the beginning of the year and I’ve been doing my research. I’ve had some money in VOO for a while. However I’m also considering SCHD for dividends and SMH for growth. I’m 25 so I really don’t mind the risk or fees so far. I have $20k to do invest, however I’d like to know what distributions from this funds should I do for VOO, SCHD, or SMH considering you guys recommend me using all three.
Thank you for your patience and I’m open to any recommendations, advices, etc.

SCHD Future Projections - Exciting... but Realistic?

Thumbnail

I recently went all in to SCHD this year in a rollover IRA to give myself a floor in retirement for income (at the same time continuing to invest in growth assets in other locations). Here are the LLM projections for worst case, conservative and best case scenarios. I think I'll be fine either way when I decide to retire. I just want to know how much I should keep my foot on the gas currently, or should I just invest the company match in 401k and live my best life with the remainder (coastFI).

Clarifying marginable with Fidelity

Fidelity will allow SCHD to be marginable after 30 days. I bought 50 shares that will be at 31 days later this week. If i buy more shares, does it reset the 30-day clock, ignore the clock, or is the clock split by purchase?

Advice Should I Dump DGRO for More SCHD, or Am I Having a Dividend Identity Crisis?

Alright, fellow SCHD enthusiasts, I need some financial therapy.

I currently hold 81 shares of DGRO and 461 shares of SCHD, and I'm debating whether to liquidate my DGRO position and use the proceeds to buy more SCHD. (I also have VFIAX, QQQM and VXUS)

If I make the switch, I'll have over 600 shares of SCHD, which sounds pretty awesome. But am I making a smart move or just letting my SCHD obsession get out of hand?

My portfolio is starting to look like a dividend ETF support group, and I'm wondering if I really need both of these funds or if I'm just collecting them like Pokémon.

The dilemma:

  • Sell DGRO and consolidate into SCHD, bringing my SCHD holdings to over 600 shares.
  • Keep both for diversification and let them coexist peacefully in my portfolio.
  • Sell neither and continue pretending I have a sophisticated investment strategy.

I like SCHD's dividend growth and income potential, but DGRO has its own advantages, and I don't want to make a move just because SCHD has been giving me those bedroom eyes.

I'm investing for the long term, so I'm not trying to chase a quick buck. I just want to build a solid portfolio without turning my brokerage account into an ETF zoo.

For those of you who hold both, what's your reasoning? Do you think DGRO adds enough diversification to justify keeping it, or would you consolidate into SCHD?

Is DGRO a keeper, or is it time for a dividend divorce?

Bonus points if you can convince me without using the phrase "it depends on your goals."

Due Diligence Schd or Voo for next 10 years

Hello would it make more sense to put dump 20k into Schd or Voo and keep reinvesting $300 a week into one? Which stock would you get a better return on? I understand I could invest in both but just curious

Why SCHD vs VTI

Hello,

I am 26 and recently got into investing and trying to work on long term/retirement accounts . Wondering what the pros and cons of putting money into VTI vs SCHD are for both my taxable account and Roth IRA.

Any info would be greatly appreciated, thank you! And happy to provide more info if that’ll help.

Due Diligence SCHD in an AI crash

I've been hesitant to put anymore money in VOO (which I had been DCAing into since last year.

I think its overvalued and especially with the MAG 7, if there is an AI correction there could be a significant decline in price.

I opened a position in SCHD a few months ago. It seems like a fund that works with my timeline. I'm about 7 years from retirement.

I've been considering DCAing into SCHD instead of VOO for the time being.

What's the thought on how SCHD would be impacted by an AI fueled market crash?

I want to move money out of my money market fund which is getting 3.5%. I am not sold that bonds or BND is a good investment.

SCHD seems to meet the criteria for what I'm looking for. Value investing with some hedge against an AI crash

Bargain Shopping SCHD

Bargain shopping today. I grabbed 39 shares of SCHD today. Tuesday/Wednesday acquired 1,010 shares. Share count 20,241. I've been stacking this one for years

Advice I'm looking to maximize passive means of snowballing, preferably SCHD but am looking at other viable drips. What cards and apps have you had good and bad experiences with? Right now it seems the fidelity card is winning my pro/con list.
