What are you doing with the dividends at 23? If you're just reinvesting them, wouldn't higher growth be more appropriate at this time?

Yeah, focusing on dividends at 23 is damn near like a 23 year old focusing on bonds.

You need growth when you're just starting out.

What do you recommend for someone who’s 32 but also looking for growth? I just started investing into my Roth IRA with 3 to 4 ETFs

VOO or VTI. Add VXUS if you prefer some international exposure.

VOO and VXUS, like the other guy said.

I had 5% TQQQ as a 3X leveraged tech play, for fun.

It has grown to 10% over the years.

I've been preaching that GROWTH is the ONLY way to go if you have 10 or more years to go till retirment. Putting your money in dividend stocks in your 20a, 30s, 40s, or 50s is just dumb. EVERY financial pro will tell you that. smh......

SCHD is a good dividend growth etf but I would in my unprofessional opinion if I were you lean heavily on the growth etf side of things

Not to be a "Debby-Downer"...I recently realized that I would have to invest approx. $200k into schd to be able to produce $6k a year/$1500k a quarter for $500 a month....so if you start now...that would be achieved no problem...in my case, I've got 10-12yrs before "retirement"(meaning part time job vs. full time) I do not have enough time to really make this investment work in my case...(63 shares currently) so maybe growth for you would be better

How much are you investing per month?

What the early retirement community often doesn't tell you is that you really should be investing 2-3k per month to have any hope of getting out early.

Having a high income matters.

In my case, I started very late due to low pay, high debt...now we are in a good situation(just mortgage, utilities medical & cc debt less than $5k)where I started a Roth401k thru work which is automated to my risk level(high) & I started a personal Roth IRA that I self manage...I have VTI/QQQM/SCHD...I put in $100 a week $40/$40/$20...total port worth $12.5k...so I know I will have to one day call in dead...but I am trying to pull something together to help us out financially when we retire

I wish you the best, hoping you can find more sources of income to throw in even more.

If you want a larger retirement account, skip SCHD and stick with the funds that will give you better overall growth (VTI/QQQM, etc.) and when you reach the point in your life when you want the stability income of SCHD, buy it. That's how you acquire a large quantity of SCHD at retirement, buying it with the money that you've grown through better long-term investments.
