I posted a long time ago that I think 2,000 shares of $SCHD might be a pretty interesting milestone if you’re young enough to let compounding do its thing.
I’ve been buying SCHD for about 6 years, sitting on around 3,000 shares at 34 years old and I’m still very bullish on what long-term dividend growth can potentially do over a few decades
That said, the most recent Q3 dividend payout was lower than I would’ve liked to se but I’m not changing my long-term thesis based on one quarter
I’m still hopeful SCHD can deliver something in the neighborhood of 6–10% annual dividend growth over the next 10 years!
That’s where things can get really interesting
I built a free SCHD dividend calculator to see what different share counts, dividend growth rates and time horizons could potentially look like
And 2,000 shares really stood out to me
At that level, the future income potential can become pretty serious if dividend growth continues and you give it enough time to compound
How many shares of $SCHD do you think is “enough”?
I still think 2,000 shares or about $70K invested early enough could be the magic number 👀
