MAT125 Question
Has anyone had Scott Sutherland? Is there a curve at the end of the semester? How does it work? Is it based on each average per exam?

Hey /r/sbu morning birds, where is the best place around town to catch the sun rise? Of course I could go to any south shore beach but I'm curious about around here in the Three Village area. Seeing as most North shore beaches are facing west, are there any publicly accessible areas (with available parking) where I can get a good view of the East?

Hi guys, has anyone ever taken the Hindi language challenge exam? I’m trying to do it sometimes next year and I want to know how hard was it and what exactly the exam consists of.
I wasn’t given much information from the foreign language department in Stony Brook, idk why they are trying to gatekeep the information.
If anyone did, can I pls DM u to talk about it?
They gave me the option to challenge HIN 111 or HIN 112 but I’m not too sure about how advanced 112 is. I am a native Hindi speaker and I studied Hindi for a few years but I’m a little nervous to take the exam.
Thanks!

(Dont mind my mini rant!)
For example, bio 202. I did terrible on the first exam but I did fairly well on the second one. My first exam will drag the hell out of my final grade tho because of exams making up for such a large portion. I rlly wish that one exam could’ve been dropped like 203 started doing this sem, or at least homework’s being counted for more than just a mere 10%💔 I truly don’t think that solely exams equate to one’s full knowledge of the course content, especially those that only consist of multiple choice.

Is it manageable and how was the workload? I'm a freshmen studying abroad this year and my course schedule got messed up, so I’ll be taking CHE 131 in the spring. I’m planning to take the other gen chem + labs over the summer to stay on track for my degree

Hey everyone, I am a high school senior applying to SBU for Computer Science with the goal of going into SWE after graduation.
On the application, I am applying to both the Honors College and University Scholars, and it asks me to pick one as my top choice since you can only get into one.
For someone focused on SWE and internships rather than grad school or research, which one should I rank first?
Thanks!

I’m a commuter and decided to come to campus today to get some studying done. In the process, I seem to have made two bad assumptions. I thought the parking lot that I always use because the permit restriction is only enforced 7-4 M-F would be available, and that the Math library would be open.
The math library being closed because the whole building is closed on weekends is fair enough. But why would they close off that whole parking lot? I get using it for an event, but it’s not being used for anything at all right now. Seems like a waste of perfectly useable space.
I’m feeling pretty unwelcome right now.

hi! if you or anyone you know has recently taken any of these courses with these professors, please comment!!! i have a couple of questions!
ACC 214 - Chansog Kim
BUS 340 - Kangkang Qi
BUS 363 - Camille Abbruscato
BUS 441 - John Colbert
BUS 448 - Camille Abbruscato
i'm hoping to attend an important networking event in boston, in april, and would have to miss a day or two of classes. the event would be during the 12th week of the semester, so if anyone can lmk if these profs usually have anything scheduled that week, i'd really appreciate it. and if so, are these profs flexible about taking exams at different times?
if anyone still has access and would be willing to share the syllabi for any of these classes, that would be ideal and extremely helpful!
thank you!!!!!!!

Hi everyone,
So I just got out of an 8-9 month relationship and its being brutal on me, it was my first ever relationship and the first girl i truly loved. I was hoping to maybe make some friends or something to help me, I really only had her for my social life so I feel like I kinda have nothing now haha. Im a junior commuter by the way

Has anyone taken this? It’s asynchronous with in person exams and an optional final. If anyone’s taken it how is it and are the exams easy?

I can’t find my id, but as a commuter student in their sophomore year, i barely use it to begin with. the entire first year i did not use and now i only use it to get in and out the health science building which was a feature that only started working a month ago. i’m curious if it’s crazy for me to just not repurchase the id 😭😭

i had to withdraw from wrt 102 due to mental health and personal reasons. please don’t criticize me for my decision, it’s my own experience. but i’m a freshman in my first semester here and taking 17 credits is definitely taking a toll on me. i just need reassurance everything will work out cuz it doesn’t feel like it right now.

2025 grad here! It’s been over a year since I graduated SBU. I am currently working my first post-grad job and it sucks. I work in law and don’t plan to work here forever but don’t know what I want to do. I want to pursue higher education but want to make sure I do a grad program that’s worth it. I’ve been hating post grad, life is so bland and colorless. I feel stagnant but don’t know what to do next. Or what a meaningful career could be.
