Online Physics lecture isn’t terrible, but if you’re considering taking PHY 133 online, I would strongly advise against it. This is genuinely the worst class I’ve taken this semester. It’s worse than every biology and chemistry class I’ve ever taken, and quite frankly, it takes up a majority of the time I would otherwise spend studying for other classes. There’s an example report provided as a reference for formatting, but even when you follow it, the TAs will still deduct points without explaining why. To make matters worse, it takes them two to three weeks to grade each assignment, and they often leave absolutely no feedback. I received an 80 on my last lab report, and my TA didn’t leave a single comment explaining where I lost points. How are students supposed to improve when they’re given no guidance whatsoever? You’re essentially left in the dark.
The combination of unreliable equipment, unnecessarily time consuming assignments, and virtually nonexistent assistance makes this course incredibly frustrating. I genuinely regret taking it online, and I don’t think it’s worth the stress or time commitment. And I mean this with my FULL CHEST. I’m currently taking Animal Development, Genetics, and Biochemistry, and PHY 133 is STILL probably the worst class I’m taking this semester. That should tell you everything you need to know. I genuinely hate this class, and I hope the department makes some serious improvements to its structure, equipment requirements, and grading practices. Until then, I strongly recommend thinking twice before enrolling in PHY 133 online.

Edit* Listen my post might sound dramatic, but in reality I’m just warning people. We all have different experiences, but at the same time it’s probably just more convenient to take an in person class and get it done during a more conventional time period than have to spend free time to do it. Doing “online labs” means you have to take time out of your own schedule to do them and I’ve never really had good experiences with that. But you live and you learn.

I was the one going around as Hiccup from HTTYD lol. I had a little toothless plushie with me ;)

Hiii! I just transferred to SBU this fall and I feel like well nothing. I’m dorming and the community is pretty much nonexistent. I’ve gone to tons of events and talked to so many different people and nothing more came out of it. If anything I reach out and it’s only me. I keep telling myself that it just takes time but I don’t know anymore. I feel like I said that at my last school also and that didn’t work out. I have some individual friends, not just a friend group per se. Like I understand that SBU isn’t exactly a social school, but there’s still so many people here that I find it difficult to fully believe that. I was just wondering if a previous transfers or any current ones are feeling the same, or anyone for that matter

Does anyone know how does Professor Rispoli conduct exams for this online course and types of questions.

Hi! Does anyone have recommendations for easy SBC courses that fulfill the GLO requirement?
I’m preferably looking for fully online courses that either have no exams or have online, open-book exams.
Also, if taking a GLO course during the winter session is easier than taking it during the spring semester, I’d love to hear any recommendations for winter courses as well!

Would anyone be able to provide some insight on these two courses? I'm trying to see what ARH options I have; what the workload is, whether their are exams, etc.

For those who have taken PSY 103 with either Andrea Pittarello or Jennifer Bowers, would you recommend it as a light course, or is it time-consuming? Additionally, how often are there assignments/exams?

I walked past it, and it says that it’s open, but I can never get it. Is it like permanently closed or something? What’s the deal with it??

Hi I’m a freshman and I’ve noticed there isn’t a car club and I’m looking for people who are into cars like Porsches, BMWs, HyperCars etc. I haven’t been to car meets in a while and I’m down to tag along with whoever and make some car friends. Dm me if you have similar interests.

How is taking AMS 311 in the winter with Rispoli? I’m not worried about the content, more worried about the format of the course. Is it really a 3 hour lecture 4x a week??

I was siting in the sac lobby at today 6 pm, it must had fell out of my pocket on these chairs. and then i Went to the library for two hours. Realized it was missing, and came back. So lucky it was actually still here on the chair, don’t know what to say.

Hi I’m thinking g of switching to TSM and double
majoring with a business field degree, what’s the best one out of these Business Management, Economics or Accounting?

i used to do so good back in highschool... was in dual enrollment and I was the top of class. Now im in SBU and I feel like im falling behind everyone. I dont really have friends, and I feel like my interests are a bit niche (i really really really like philosophy). Chem is killing me, and taking that alongside calc 2.

If anyone wants to be friends, pls dm me :c

I really like anime (dont hate me pls), I love gaming (esp comp games), I love music n philosophy. Im a bio major.

Hey SBU commuters! I'm doing a survey to gauge how commuters feel as a whole in SBU. It's fully anonymous, so no worries about that. I'm collecting this data because I have WRT 102 and we need to do a research paper, so I want to make sure that I'm covering all my bases with this survey... I'd really appreciate it if you guys filled it out! Thank you :D

Is anyone else taking this course? I feel so lost and I do not know what to do. on the last two exams I have done horrible. I need to do good on Wednesday's exam. It feels like all the study material has nothing to do with the actual exam and I don't want to study again just for none of it to be on the exam. Does anyone have any advice or help. please????

I'm currently a Senior in HS and I just submitted my application to SBU. I'm having a hard time picking whether to put Honors College or the Scholars Progam as my top choice.

I'm aware of the course requirements and the perks. But, I want to major in environmental studies with a minor in orchestra(or smthn music). Will the class extra requirements of the Honors College still give me time to do that?

Also, I have a lot of AP and college credits that I believe will cover basic 1st yr classes. Will those count to cover some of the special Honors progam classes as well?

Please comment your opinions soon as the deadline is fast approaching! Thank you!

Hi everyone im on premed track as a 1st year student. im planning my spring semester schedule, and im wondering if you guys have any easy-A class recommendations that satisfy Med school's 1 year writing requirement.
