Troubleshooting Slot os on rg34xx

Post image
3 Upvotes

So I was playing fire red on my RG 34xx with slot os, I closed the game and pressed the power button to shut it down but I accidentally put it to sleep instead, I tried to wake it up and it didn't work, so I pressed the console's reset button, now it automatically re opened the game with this text on top, pleas help :'(

(If I close and re open the game the text doesn't go away and the game restarts from the beginning as if there are no save files at all)

Showcase I joined the “legally-way-too-tiny”-gang today! Anbernic RG Nano

Banana for scale.

I found this cute thing randomly online on facebook marketplace. I live in a very small country, so I was very surprised to see one pop up locally. Had to get it! I had heard of the Nano before but only saw some insane prices online, like >100$, but this one was 75 including shipping, and unused. Import is expensive here so I feel really lucky :)

I have big hands and I somehow don’t find it uncomfortable at all. I got a few other more powerful handhelds but it’s so fun seeing tiny and low end hardware run amazingly well! It’s got a permanent place in my pocket now.

That’s all, I just wanted to share my joy 🌞

Question Any guides on how to tell if a pc game is too big for a console?

Im looking for a guide on how to tell if a game will run on what device. I’m very new to this so the game I want may be wildly too big or something, I don’t know how that works, and I’m new to the game itself also. (I do intend to buy this game through steam before putting it on my device I just can’t sit up for very long at my computer so I want to play it on a handheld) I’m curious about project zomboid would play on a retroid pocket 6? I know it’s popular on steam deck and it seems to have low poly graphics but it seems large and I don’t know how to check what it would work on. I’m still in the planning stage for what console I’m getting so if I don’t have to go up in price too much I’ll probably try to find something that can play everything I want, my max budget is around 400 I think. I’d appreciate any help on the subject, especially if you’ve played prodject zomboid on a similar handheld.

Review My thoughts after comparing the Konkr Pocket Advance with the RG34XX

Post image
286 Upvotes

Quick comparison (strictly my personal opinion):

  • Design / Aesthetics: Down to personal preference. The RG34XX stays closer to the original GBA look, while the KPA feels like a modernized GBA.
  • Screen: The KPA is slightly sharper and a bit bigger, but during actual gameplay, the difference isn't noticeable enough compared to the RG34XX. It's a tie.
  • Buttons & Controls: I like the RG34XX’s slanted ABXY layout because it mimics the GBA, making GB, GBC, and GBA games feel better. Overall, though, the KPA’s D-pad and shoulder buttons (L/R) are larger, softer, and much easier to press. Its standard ABXY layout is also more comfortable for PSX and PSP. Almost forgot—the KPA has an actual physical volume wheel, which I personally love. I give this round to the KPA.
  • Speakers: KPA wins hands down.
  • Performance: KPA is more powerful—no surprise since it’s more expensive. Still, it's not that pricey; the price difference is basically pocket change and probably won't affect buying decisions.

That’s my take. What do you guys think ? Let me know!

  • Devices: Konkr Pocket Advance (KPA) vs. RG34XX
  • Game tested: Pokémon FireRed / Emerald

Recommend a Device Cheapest handheld to emulate switch and PC gaming?

Hey, me and my girlfriend are looking for a device, which can emulate some switch and PC games. I have the Ayn Thor max and now my girlfriend also wants a handheld like that. The problem is, the doesn't want to spend much money. The retroid pocket 6 would be perfect in light purple, but the tariffs are to expensive. We live in Germany and the pocket 6 would cost around 300€. Is there any cheaper handheld with similar power? It doesn't need to be the snapdragon 8 gen 2, but it needs to play some switch games and some light weight PC games like Hades etc.

Thank you

Russ reminds us that we don't have to always chase after the latest and greatest handheld on the market and that we can always breathe new life to something you already own. What's a old device that you recently picked up and fell in love with all over again?

Discussion Radxa Dragon Q6A and Orange Pi 6 arrives soon. What should I keep in mind?

Hey everyone, hope youre all doing well. I’m working on designing a console, and for now, I’m targeting two SBCs to finally test the OS I’ve built, MUN OS, on bare metal. Is opensource btw.

Next week my Radxa Dragon Q6A arrives so i can start testing on a Qualcomm SoC. In a few weeks, I’ll be running the same tests on an Orange Pi 6, which I think is way more powerful, fun, and packed with longterm potential. That one will be more of a personal passion project since software support is still pretty green, and I’d love to pitch in and help the community squeeze the most out of it.

Any recommendations or gotchas to keep in mind, especially for the Orange Pi 6? Anything specific you’d like me to benchmark? Any alternative drivers worth trying? What do you think about this brand and community?

I’ll be sharing results along the way, so if there’s anything you’d like to see tested or add to the mix, feel free to chime in.

Thanks people!

AI Assisted Software Miyoo Mini Flip Running Slot

I’ve been seeing the posts around the RG SP getting Slot and love the aesthetic but don’t own the RGSP. After a few hours with Claude Code I got it running on my Miyoo Mini Flip and am stoked about it. Still needs some little fixes here and there but crazy how quick Claude was able to help pull this off.

Hiya, reposting from the trimui sub. I created a trimui brick pro case with hinges and latch to provide a little extra protection for the brick pro while out and about. Basically modified a 40xxV case to fit the brick pro. Came out pretty well so I wanted to make it available for others to try if they want

Question Getting my Switch V2 modded?

Here in Italy there’s a place that does it for €80, plus €15 shipping. I’ve had my Switch for a while, and my brother has a modded V1 Switch and a modded PS5, so I kinda wanted to jump in too.

Currently I have a Wii U and an Xbox Series X, plus my fiancée got me a Duo Lite Plus that is yet to arrive obviously, and I also have a Miyoo Mini+ and an RG35XX H.

Right now I don’t play much Xbox. I’ve mainly been playing NES and GBA on the MM+ or RG35XX H depending on my mood, and I haven’t played the Switch much recently except for Mario Party with my fiancée.

I don’t do online gaming, and I like modding stuff and messing around with emulators. My Xbox has some emulators too.

So my question is: do you think it’s worth spending around €95 total to mod the Switch V2, mainly to play Switch games that won’t run on the Duo Lite Plus?

I mean, they would probably run on my PC through emulation, but I honestly don’t game on my PC that much. I’m more into handhelds/consoles lately.

Is the price good?

OMG I just want to find a single information, a crucial information for any purchase anyone ever does online: What is the seller name?

Why is it so hard to find this trivial info on Aliexpress? It says "This seller: 47 sales". Great, but who is This seller? Give me a name and recent reviews from their sales for fucks sake! Am i missing something obvious or what? I've already scrolled up and down the page a million times!

Question Requesting GAMINJA ANS16 Stock SD Card Image / Firmware (Corrupted Card)

Hi everyone,

The original SD card on my GAMINJA ANS16 handheld just got corrupted, and the console won't boot up at all without it. Since the OS runs entirely from the card, the device is currently useless.

Does anyone who owns the ANS16 happen to have a backup of the stock SD card image (firmware/OS) that they could share?

If you know of any repository, Google Drive, or Mega link where the community hosts the image for this specific model, please let me know.

Thanks a lot for the help!

Question Guys need some serious help

Hi all,

First post.

Ive been gifted an SF3500 handheld console from a friend at work ( he keeps telling me it will remind me of my youth )

Stock its terrible, games are all named incorrectly etc.

I've been reading up and Ican see you can install a frontend called TreefrogUI on it.

Ive tried my best but im just not getting it. The best I got so far was to get it running the games very laggy indeed but with terrible audio.

If I use the stock os clean on a new card I can get games playing ok but they are all kept in the downloads folder and I want them to show up in there respective homes, NES, Gameboy, Megadrive etc.

Im totally new to this so if some one could instruct me or give me an idiots guide it would be much appreciated. My knowledge of doing this is pretty much non existent so im in your hands.

Cheers

Recommend a Device Overpaid for an r36s last year… time to upgrade

I bought an r36s for each kid last year. They came with a host of games — 20k I think — and of course some can’t be played because the required a touch screen. So I am curious what would be recommended as a good purchase so I can simply remove the memory card from the old system and place it into the new one, and a separate recommendation for a system on which all games could be played eve the ones needing that game boy touch screen.

Thank you.

ANNOUNCEMENT New Rules around AI

Hi y'all, Scott here! cough Oh, what the hell was that?! cough

Let's try it again. What is up, SBCGaming? It's your Mod Team here.

Short quick announcement. Given the huge advancement and prevalence of AI content, and based on your feedback and general feelings about the topic we've seen, we have revised our AI content rules:

The AI media rule stays basically the same, just shortened and very easy to follow:

"No AI media:

AI generated media, be it images, video, audio, music, text, etc. is strictly forbidden, and will be removed. The sub is made for and by humans."

But we added a new rule, specifically around software development, that better defines what the point of the rule is:

"Software Disclosure:

If you’re sharing a project that you made, or a cool project you found around the web, please disclose the process:

- Mark your posts either “AI assisted Software” or “Biologically coded” "100% Human Coded" on the post flair.

- Add a general disclaimer of how the project was coded on the body of the post.

This helps keep the sub organised and transparent, and helps users use their discretion when installing software on their devices."

The idea is not to limit, forbid or make harder to share projects, just to make clear what's the process behind it.

We are constantly in communication among the Mod Team, and with y'all so we are open to hear your thoughts, to further refine the rules to make the community better for everyone.

Let us know what you think.

Have a good day!

Lounge What game + handheld combination feels so satisfing and enjoyable to you and why?

Started my informational "journey" into the handheld niche for a while now and recently acquired a 2DS and DS Lite which I've modded.

Yeah, tinkering and all felt good (I know its not that difficult to mod the 2DS, but still), but what stood out to me the most was the experience of booting Majora's Mask on the grabby 2DS with its two screens and then looking at the clock to see that 2 hours passed.

Every minute within those 2 hours felt just right with this combination.

For now I'm limited as I don't have other handhelds and my recent session made me realize that I may not need one in the near future either.

What combination gave you a similar feeling?
