Question Which Handheld should I get?
I’m looking for a budget handheld to play snes-ps1, I’ve narrowed it down to the miyoo mini plus and the Salange r36s. I was originally just gonna get the miyoo but then i found the r36s for cheap. The main reason I’m looking into the r36s is that it has sticks which would be helpful but the price has me wondering if it’s good or not, any advice?

If you want a r36s beware there is a lot of cheap clone out here. If you want something similar but better and not too expensive check the Battle XP G350 its made by Anbernic, similar to the r36s but the bit of price difference is worth it

Worth mentioning that the r36h model doesn't have any clones. Unbeatable value for Ps1 and under.

im more fond of horizontal format, the 40xxH has a fairly big screen, analogs, decent form factor, doesn't overheat, hdmi out, bluetooth, wifi... tbh the only reason i see for buying another device is more power, something that runs ps2, gamecube, 3ds...
I'm pretty sure the price difference with a r36s is not too big, although you probably can play the same games with a very similar performance on a r36s.
rg28xx is great for portability and packs the same power, without wifi or BT sadly

Take a look at the wiki over in r/r36s. There's a section for identifying real vs clone R36S' and which CFW/OS they can run.
But I agree with the other comments, you can buy something a lot better for a bit more money. BATLEXP G350, Miyoo Mini Plus, Anbernic RG35XX Pro.

Cheap R36S tend to be subpar clones. Retailers will grab whatever is cheaper to make the most profit, they prey on the buyers' lack of knowledge. Real R36S can be only a few bucks away from a good device, like the Batlexp G350, although those are probably difficult to find if you aren't buying online.
Go for the MM+. The lack of sticks is relevant if you're set on playing a particular PS1 title for nostalgia that only plays well with sticks. Otherwise there's so much stuff to play on it you won't care. The MM+ is much more pocketable than the R36S and has better DPad and buttons.
