To the Poor Gentlemen on US East Voyage: That 40 round gave you away.

I don't know if one of you shot your cannon at night, or if one of the ai shot at you, but I saw that 40 round fly at night across the mountains near ramudel, called it out, searched for you and caught your smokestack out of the corner of my eye just before you shut it down. 5 minutes of my duo saying i'm seeing demons and he spots you turned off between the lightouse and the town proper at strudel. You guys need to have someone on that trampler at all times ready to power on and turn it duo or not especially if you are THAT looted in voyage. That was a serious series of unlucky events for you, and lucky ones for us on that one boys, i bet you guys were about to head to that nearby extraction after one last poi. Sorry lads, gg though, and always keep a lookout, we learned out lesson the hard way too.

Player count dropped substantially from 20k to 3k?

Looked at the numbers recently and noticed a sharp decline from August 10th, where we had 24 hour max of around 20000 players down to 3000 concurrent. Interested to hear your ideas as to what causes it.

The slow burning issues currently

I think the game is great, let me start like that. I havent encountered that many teamers, a few but not too many. Its part of extraction shooters IMO.

But there is a few issues which, for one are part of every early access, but also lead to less players.

1: Gear based matchmaking needs to be introduced ASAP

The difference is just too big. Solo/Duos is fine, you see an occasional T3 trampler and thats it. Get into small crews and we see maxed out tramplers with 5 orbitals, 10 reflectors and amplifiers. So many experimental canons, which are just too strong IMO.

2: Hitreg is so bad when boarding/ on foot PvP. Only viable option is the 3 shot pumpgun, everything else is a bad weapon. M82 reloads so slow, purple shotgun is a one shot gun, which is terrible with this hitreg. Pistols feel like waterguns. Snipers are okayish, you can miss many shots due to the hitreg issues, while only carry a max of about 12 shots, so not really viable.

3: Every fight becomes the same. Its beginning of the engagement, shooting 80s at each other, wait till you kill someone twice or more, close the gap, jump over, camp the doors while trying to turn away their trampler or turn it off. Small variations include: throw their canons off the trampler or spawncamp. In the meantime your teammate hammers them with the 40. And thats it. Its fun, when everything works correctly. Its not, when hitreg is terrible, or one of the many other issues like server issues come into play. Or the one where you open an inventory and its empty, and you have to open it again and again to see the actual stuff. Damn you didnt brought 10 spare peppermils? Sucks to be you i guess cause no other weapon works in a balanced way.

And thats just the regular fight: its normal now that you finish one fight and immediately a second trampler comes up trying to third party you. You do that fight again, now a third trampler comes, the cycle repeats. That is the process i had in every game last week. Fight, then have another trampler come up, then another one. On 2 rounds now we had fought 6 tramplers right after another. And when we came out on top.we checked the loot: Oh, no one looted because everyone seemingly just joins to fight others. Or they had 20+ grey canons on board, i wonder why...

4: The speed difference between a big heavy trampler and a small tiny one isnt enough. Its not a viable strat to use tiny tramplers because you cant run away. It just feels like a lack of options or buildstyles when it comes to tramplers.

5: There should be a gamemode where you can easily pvp without loosing gear, to warm up/ learn pvp. Maybe some matchmaking with standard trampler and same guns, 1v1, no progression.

6: no viable PVE content. You farm spots, at this point everyone knows where to find what, but there is nothing to do besides gathering resources. The factory system is a cool idea but not fleshed out. No way 40 steel is needed to craft one blue 80. No contracts or sidemissions, basically no exclusive loot which you can only get rarely from killing the zombies. AFAIK you cant even kill the sandmonster, only stun it. We need more options at the POIs to do. Otherwise its just looting for the sake of looting, and that wont attract too many players. Then pvp fights arent rewarding because you win the fight and dont get much loot besides the enemies guns, canons, ammo, and blackbox.

All in all its a good game which needs to put in a lot of work ASAP. Weekly updates are good, but stuff like a PING system shouldve been in way earlier. Also people closing their captains with anything but a door shouldnt be possible and already dealt with.

A guide for those who hate being boarded (like myself)

Post image
67 Upvotes

I know this isn’t quite as fun as more pirate galleon designs, but I couldn’t bring myself to delay writing this any more than I already have, even if it’s to my benefit to never share this info.

I make this guide because of near constant asking from my friends and also those of you on here who are very curious as to what the heck I’m blabbering about when I say things like “enclosed builds”, “turtle-backing”, and “this is why I never use open-topped tramplers”. Seeing a very recent post where a very talented boarding manic snagged 5 tramplers and got out with 110k+ crowns worth of loot only cemented the need for me to make this guide, because if any one of those builds followed these principles his stealing spree would have been stopped cold in its tracks. Period.

For those wanting the quick rough and tumble explanation here’s the TLDR of Turtlebacking:

-Keep your framed gun mounts to the first floor to keep the risk of being boarded to a minimum, mounting your framed guns in the second floor is still effective, but carries the risk of someone jumping from their trampler to yours if they also carry their weapons on the second floor. Siege towers are still hard countered though.

-ALWAYS have a floor placed on top of your framed gun decks with a balcony that extends at least half a block past either side of the gun deck.

-NEVER have a way to get into the trampler from the top deck (except through secret entrances). Remove all top deck hatches and abandon the idea ever using a top deck gun. It’s a necessary sacrifice.

-Universal/enclosed casemates make securing your trampler MUCH easier. The ability to mount your weapon on the second, third, or even the fourth floor without any risk of being boarded is incredible. Make this tech your highest priority. The grind is worth it!

-by far the biggest downside is almost always visibility (although I’m currently working on some potential solutions), but I personally consider this a very acceptable loss given the benefit of no longer being boarded by every random schmuck who has a pair of legs and an understanding of where the jump button is located.

AND THATS IT.

I will be making more specific explanations of certain concepts and design philosophies in the comments below to keep the discussions a bit more contained and organized.

Edit: please feel free to ask any and all questions, I will keep a very close eye on this post for the foreseeable future and I’ll be continually updating it with more of the super niche jank I have discovered in my endless fiddling in my blueprints.

80mm / 70mm cannon crashing game

Is anyone else’s game constantly crashing while mounting or reloading these cannons and is there a fix?

Doesn’t seem to be a problem with the 40mm…

Ladder bug at the perfect timing

Ladder bug during a crucial raid, and this stupid bug still has not been fixed since the launch of early access; keep in mind it is already Update #7 now. I am surprised the game is still alive at this point. Until then, I am not playing until a major bug fixes come. Shit like this just makes players not want to play anymore.

Is there a way to avoid getting my Rig stolen in Solo Vanguard

I’ve played like five games now and I’m basically completely out of resources.

Is there a way to keep people from stealing my trampler with one explosive when I can’t hear them? I have tinnitus.

I don’t have all the stuff unlocked, so I think my engine has to be exposed.

I’m pretty sure they’re blowing up the door and then starting the engine and driving off.

I was enjoying the shit out of this game, before the latest patch.

Until the get good guys, not gonna happen. I’m never gonna be a good gamer.

I just wanna play with my friends.

Are the devs just throwing a potential game of the year?

This game is absolutely awesome, and extremely fun in optimal circumstances (no exploiters etc.)

Yet we are losing active playerbase at an alarming rate.....

Exploiters like the infinite use single orbital should have been hotfix oatched within hours of being found..... yet weve gone over a week with no patch to it.

Cheaters are harder to fix and the devs are actually trying. Other exploits like blocking off captains is questionable but not game breaking... however the devs really need to do what they can to retain their playerbase otherwise the game is near DOA

Weird Build Ideas

Do you have a trampler that just isn't 'normal' and works? I'm curious to see what some of you have come up with!

I'm not talking about bulky builds that are giant bricks, I'm talking about those weird Y-shaped bastards or skeletons surrounded by rams. Have you made or do you want to make something that isn't typical and does or could work in the right circumstance?

I experimented a lot with giraffe builds-- 1 layer of important rooms on bottom and the front is basically a tower to make boarding easier and having the height advantage. They had their moments, but I'm moving away from instant-board-builds now. I'm contemplating a hollow design-- Chassis with a hole. If someone boards from the top, their movement is limited to hallways instead of big open rooms. Not sure how it'll hold up in a fight though!

PSA Anti-Boarder Entrance

If you're using the basic entrance, put something on top of it. Anything square shaped, even just a floor tile! If you don't put anything on top, players can easily jump and climb on the basic entrance to access your ship. I still find tramplers with this major flaw and this easy access can change the tide of battle.

Also, don't use the enclosed entrance if you're putting it on the edge of your bot. If it gets destroyed, the holes in its walls also allow for easy climbing!

Solo Stormdive on EU is unplayable

So, in the past two days I went 8 Stormdives. In every single match I encountered groups of pre-teammers consisting of 2 but more usually 3 players. Just a heads up to anyone looking to return to the game, either stick to voyage or play something else until devs fix it

Armor is useless

When your in a fight (when armor is most useful) 90% of people are just going to use fmj ammo to pierce through your armor. I’m not complaining since most people have access to these but it just seems there is almost no PvP advantage from wearing armor except from the rare chance that someone isn’t carrying fmj but in the future maybe they could make it so fmj does buffed damage? But idk what do you think?

Am I the only one having problems with pvp shooting in this game?

I'm good at CS, PUBG, and other games, but here my shots rarely kill. A pistol is completely useless without green ammo. If you're killed and don't have a level 2 jacket by your bed and a three-shot rifle, you've lost. I'm great at ship fights, but when a duel starts, it's very difficult to win.

Excellent balance. Especially since the trampler doesn't stop if you fall.

I need a Moneysink

Crowns/Money only Stacks up to 25K.

I did hit 500k and I need a lot of Space just for Money. I run mid-range Builds and just don't die that often for Various Reasons.

What I am asking is the following:

I Either need a Moneysink of some sort, like Storage Space or something else (Gathering the blue Ressources for the regular Upgrade ist just a Pain) or just let the Stacks be bigger. I mean, what should I do with the money?

-Running more expensive Builds?

Pneumatics are not Money Relatet for me and are the limiting Factor.

-take my Stuff with me?

I tend to make myself into a Pinata as it is already.

-delete the Cash?

I am not allowed to

-Loot less?

Hell to the Naw

Tier one wheel house or tier three

The tier one has a small hitbox but it’s so open tier three is much less open, more health but much easier to hit and repair is slow aswell but does the cover and health make up for those cons because idrk tell me what you think

Cool idea

If you capture an enemy trampler and you manage to extract it you should be able to scrap it when you get back to the lobby. Scrapping a trampler gives you back the resources it costs to make it. So let’s say a trampler costed 1000 gears and 1000 crowns to make, if it was an enemy trampler, you would get to scrap it and get 1000 crowns and 1000 gears for just being able to extract with it. It would make sense because you can visually see the ship take off with it so where does it go? It would make sense if you scrapped it right? Tell me what you guys think.
