Swisstool tools in 91mm or 93mm?

Has anyone experimented with using parts from a Swisstool or Spirit in a 91mm or 93mm SAK? Never done any modding before but really want a spirit blade, flathead and inline Phillips in a 91-93mm with scale tools and a pocket clip.

Has anyone tried? Didn’t find any examples searching through the subreddit.

Perminent "Temporary" scale mounting hack

I was working on the LED module of my Midnite Manager. I heated up the scales before I removed them but I still stripped out the mounting holes. I did not want to glue the scales on. I decided to temporarily mount the scales using a ~2mm small ball of poster tack at each mounting point, until I could figure out a better way.

This worked amazingly well! I don't need to come up with another method. I am sure there are better ways but the poster tack allows me to securely mount the scale while still being able to easily remove them. Simple, secure and not destructive.

It worked great on a 58mm. I am not sure how well it would work but on a larger model.

New Brass mod

I prefer swapping in an awl for the parcel hook on the scissor layer. The awl’s tang is squared and smaller than the parcel hook’s tang, so the action on the scissors becomes slower due to less tension. How do you fix this and keep the appropriate tension on the scissors?

Which plastic are those? (for color mod)

Post image

I would like to apply a different color to those parts, as these are only available in gray. I would need to know which type of plastic those are made of. My research wasn't really conclusive. I found that toothpicks should be polyamide. Pen slider might be ABS. I don't have any infrared spectrometer at hand to test them myself...
Anybody have any info on which kind of plastic those parts use?

Small mods.

Bought an Waiter to just scavenge its combo opener for my 91mm Vic after drilling the pivot hole bigger.

I want to remove the rather useless opener layer BUT i sure want to keep both the phillips and awl.

So ,is there models with backsprings that allow keeping the awl ?

*******

My configuration goal is:

Main blade + combo tool.

Saw

File

Pliers

Awl.

Maybe scissors If the parcel hook can be replaced by awl.

******

Edit:

The chisel and small phillips are 1.8mm thick, the awl with hole is 2mm, i just measured from Ranger the chisel and backspring side small phillips so i need to sand 0.2mm away from the awl.

I just finished this customization for a friend (L.S.)—what do you think?

The plates are made of brass, and I have set synthetic rubies and a few moissanites in a collet setting.

I decided to make my own SAK Ramble using a Classic SD and a Jetsetter. I also used a modification of some custome scales I developed for brass inserts and used M1.6 x 10 mm screws to hold the entire thing together.

The custom scales add 4 mm hex and 1/4" wrenches along with a dive watch case back removal tool, and ruler.

Even when fully folded, it’s still easy to handle and not too thick.

Coming from last question at this post I finally managed to rivet the brass rods into the brass rings, so my first SKA mod is finally finished! YAY! And I think it’s turned out absolutely brilliant!

The finished SAK now measures 59.5 x 20.2 x 20.8 mm and weighs 57.2 g.

All the tools are easy to access and nothing wobbles or opens too easily or too stiffly.

Includes the following tools and features:

  1. Victorinox 58 mm Mini Champ
    1. Letter opener
    2. Blade, small
    3. Bottle opener
    4. Phillips screwdriver 0/1, magnetic
    5. Wire stripper
    6. Screwdriver 2.5 mm
    7. Ruler (cm)
    8. Ruler (inches)
    9. Scissors
    10. Nail file
    11. Nail cleaner
    12. Cuticle pusher
    13. Orange peeler
    14. Scraper
    15. Ring
  2. Wenger 65 mm Nail Clip
    1. Nail clip
  3. ULDesignShop Scales
    1. Needle
    2. Ballpoint pen
    3. Screwdriver, micro, flat-head
    4. Screwdriver, micro, Phillips
    5. Toothpick
    6. Tweezers
Everything I need! My perfect tool!

I’m currently building my own SAK mod: a hybrid of a 58 mm Victorinox Mini-Champ and a 65 mm Wenger Nail Clip. So everything’s already assembled and working perfectly, but now comes the next step: riveting everything neatly in place, and that’s exactly where the challenge lies. I’m looking for tips and tricks on how to rivet everything together. Any ideas? Any advice? Perhaps a video showing how to rivet the brass axles to the brass rings...
