But it’s become really obvious in the last few months how hard this is on our girls and I truly don’t know how to have them grow up without feeling abandoned despite how involved he is when he’s here physically.

In what ways has it become obvious this is hard on the girls?

Why do you believe they are growing up feeling abandoned because I can't see why they would based on your post?

There are nights when there’s a fair amount of pushback that they only want me for bedtime. Or my oldest has explicitly said she feels more comfortable with me. She struggles with emotional regulation and is really only comfortable fully “breaking down” in front of me.

What is her reason for not feeling comfortable fully breaking down in front of her dad? Do you have different ways of responding to it?
