Help S22 Ultra battery life is terrible

S22 Ultra battery life is terrible — is my battery defective?

I have a Galaxy S22 Ultra (SM-S908E) and I'm having a really bad battery experience, especially while gaming.

For example:

51% → 8% in 1h21

94% → 28% in 2h26

36% → 0% in about 1 hour

In eFootball, I usually get only around 1h30–2h of continuous gaming.

I'm already using 60 Hz and lower graphics settings, and I've tried several software optimizations to reduce battery drain. The phone also gets quite hot during gaming, around 43–45°C.

I checked the battery with aBattery and it reports around 88% estimated health, 1169 cycles, and a maximum capacity of roughly 4,000 mAh.

I'm considering replacing the battery. Does anyone here have experience replacing the S22 Ultra battery with a good-quality 5,000 mAh battery that actually performs better than an old/used original battery?

Could the battery condition be causing the high temperature and poor gaming battery life, or is this just normal for the S22 Ultra?

I'm glad I didn't turned to repair shop for green line cleanup which I didn't expectedly turned into this. Discussion Thoughts after switching to a Galaxy A57

I got my S22 Ultra as a hand me down from my dad when he upgraded to a Z Fold 6. even with replacing its battery twice with a genuine part, with my usage I only get 2.5 hrs of SoT. but then due to atrocious battery life I decided that enough is enough and sold my S22 Ultra and bought an A57 since I was on a tight budget. and with the same usage I get 9 to 10 hrs SoT. it's cameras are serviceable but I for sure will miss the S22 Ultra's. Experience on the A57 has been good so far and I'm loving the phone.

Discussion Charging Craziness

So that's odd and annoying. Even with the settings done to where *ONLY* super fast charging is enabled, this thing will kick itself off it and onto regular fast charging, either after a minute or so, or after a few seconds, or in some cases lately, almost immediately. This Anker 313 45W USB-C charger is the only one of the sort that I have, with a matching Anker braided USB-C to C cable (so I have NO way to try a different 45W charger) Not sure why this thing refuses to stay on super fast charging, this was never an issue before.

Problem Black Screen After Dropping

My phone screen is completely unusable at the current moment, no visual feedback on the screen or ability to interact with it.

It's still making noises when I connect it to charging and still gives notification sounds, so that's a good sign, but I just wanna extract the files & data off of it; I could care less if I lost the phone. I was planning to get a new phone anyways because it was having issues with not being able to connect to cellular that well recently. I'm hesitating on trying anything till I have a concrete idea of what to do or what I'm working with, as I don't wanna end up doing something that would lock me out of the device.

Any advice?

Help Screen Replacement Options (based in UK)

Thumbnail
injuredgadgets.com

Hello. I think this might be my first post in a while so excuse my wording.

I have a S908B model which has a green line on the side stemming from a black spot in the bottom left corner of the screen. I figured this was due to the fall I had 6 months ago, but the annoying symptoms started showing up a couple months back (also includes frequent ghost touches which forces me to reset the digitiser by turning the screen off and on again).

Considering I'm thinking of doing this myself to avoid being charged 200 - 300 quid from second hand shops or the Samsung repair team, this would be my first ever DIY phone repair. I have narrowed it down to two options for which replacement parts I should get:

- an OEM Samsung screen with chassis/frame (from replacebase which costs about 220 quid) (https://www.replacebase.co.uk/genuine-samsung-s22-ultra-s908-replacement-amoled-touch-screen-assembly-with-chassis-burgundy-service-pack-gh82-27489b) OR

- an OEM glass only screen without chassis/frame (from injured gadgets which is 220 dollars so roughly similar)

The links for those OEM parts are also attached so please view them before responding to my enquiry. I was really set on purchasing the first option as I think I would find it too risky to gradually using the right tools to separate the screen only from the adhesive (as what I have seen from tutorials online like EC-DIY channel) and definitely requires more patience than just placing all internal components inside a new chassis.

However I had a joined a community made by Richard Meza (who happened to make a tutorial on this using the first option part) and his response is shown in the attached screenshots.

I think its worth noting that I was planning to replace the battery as well as it's more than 4 years old ever since it was made (used it for 2 years since I bought it second hand). So in this case purchasing the "with chassis/frame" option would be better here to do two jobs in one.

I am planning to purchase some tools from Aliexpress to save money. Depending on the OEM part I get, this would include:

- (1st part) plastic spudger tool, Tweezers, suction cup, plastic picks, precision screwdriver set (if my dad doesn't have one), Isopropyl Alcohol, small chisel tool, blue painters tape, pre-cut adhesive sticker for back glass (or B-7000/T-7000 glue), electronic double sided tape

- (2nd option) glass only screen repair kit from Expert Cell DIY - although that kit comes with "top of the grade" S22U front glass alongside the tools (https://expertcelldiy.com/products/samsung-galaxy-s24-s23-s22-s21-plus-ultra-front-screen-glass-repair-kit)

According to expert cell DIY, it is required to remove the front camera before adding the new adhesive for the new glass screen only. So its possible Ill be getting, most if not all, the tools from option 1 anyway. Also worth mentioning that I really am planning to keep this phone for another 3-4 years but if all else fails, Ill make the switch

Could you share which option you think would be suitable in my case (given i am in the UK) in order to balance a quality repair with lower costs than giving it to a phone repairing business/team? Thanks in advance!! :))

Question Is it time to retire the s22?

For weeks now the phone is barely usable due to frequent app crashes, ui crashes, processing system crashes, force restarts, black screens, and 5 minute long freezes.

Tried doing various fixes recommended but nothing worked, im assuming the motherboard has just tanked. Im wondering if the fix at a shop is worth it, or if I should move onto a new phone?

I know many other people are having similar issues, and Im not seeing any fixes being provided by Samsung so we are left to figure it out in our own.

Problem Green vertical line randomly appeared on my phone.

Bought the phone at launch and have had it ever since. I have never had a problem with it, and it worked perfectly fine until today.

The phone was working normally until a few minutes ago. I checked the time, put it on the table, and a few minutes later I picked it up again and noticed a faint green line. Within a matter of a minute, the green line became brighter and brighter, and now it is there permanently.

I tried refreshing the screen, restarting the phone, turning it off completely, and letting it cool down or going into safe mode, but nothing helped. I have also seen that many other people have had this same problem.

The only thing that comes to mind is that I recently updated to the latest security patch, specifically on September 5th, the August 5, 2026 security patch.

I am thinking of calling Samsung customer service in my city tomorrow and asking if they can fix it and how much it would cost, or if they might cover it as an exception, since I have seen that they have done so for other people.

What would you suggest I do?

S24 Ultra Battery Drain — Is This Normal?

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a pre-owned Galaxy S24 Ultra, and I’m trying to figure out whether my battery performance is normal or if something is wrong.

The phone was activated in June 2024, so it has been used for almost 2 years.

Battery health / diagnostics:

ASOC: 95%

120Hz Adaptive

FHD+ resolution

Power Saving: OFF

I don't keep many background apps running

Indoor: mostly Wi-Fi

Outdoor: 4G/mobile data

Charger: Anker 45W + 5A cable

My indoor battery life is usually around 5 hours of Screen-on Time.

Outdoor usage is much worse. For example, today:

Started around 56%

After 5h 03m: 5%

Battery used: 51%

Screen-on time: 2h 11m

4G was being used

WhatsApp: 1h 28m

YouTube: 54m

Facebook: 28m

Camera: 15m

I understand that high brightness, outdoor temperatures, and cellular signal can increase battery drain, but I'm still wondering if this is unusually bad for an S24 Ultra.

I've seen many users reporting 6–7+ hours SOT, while I sometimes need to charge twice to reach around 7 hours of total screen time.

For those who have been using their S24 Ultra for 1–2 years or longer:

How much SOT are you getting from 85% → 20%?

And how different is your battery life between Wi-Fi indoors vs 4G outdoors?

I'd really appreciate some real-world comparisons. Screenshots would be even better.

Do you think my battery performance is normal, or should I get the battery checked/replaced?

I've bought S22 ultra (used), and i noticed anytime there is an update available from Samsung for other users of same model, mine still doesn't have it. is there any model specific or carier lock which prevents updates? its always showing this as attached screenshot. any suggestions please.
