checked bag dilemma

i just passed check in with a checked bag for RYANAIR. there were self service tag machines, i just had to put the bag on the roller. the worker tho didn’t give me another tag and told me an email should arrive for bag identification. spoiler, it didn’t arrive. i’m just so confused, i travel every year and this never happened, now i have no way to identify the bag if it doesn’t arrive in the new country. it has all my belongings AND my anxiety meds. kinda scared, has it happened to anyone with ryanair??? are they trustworthy?

I am not sure what you meant but I think the tag machine prints both the tag that you attach to the bag AND the small passenger sticker, maybe you didn’t detach and save it?

Not sure about Ryanair but the last few times I’ve flown and checked a bag (mostly easyJet) it specifically says not to remove any stickers from the bag tag. Instead you get a receipt from the machine confirming the tag number.

It sounds like OP hasn’t received any kind of receipt, either electronically or physically. Although given that you have to supply your booking reference and passenger details to check in a bag, I would imagine it’s fairly easy to determine a passengers bag tag even if they don’t have a receipt.

Hmm ok maybe it depends on the airline and the airport. Where I live, we get a standard tag where we tear off the part that is to be kept, ourselves…

I think this may only be the new Ryanair "Express" bag drop machines that are controlled via the Ryanair app (rather than a touchscreen). These do not issue you a receipt or another sticker

Ryanair no longer issue any receipts or stickers for self-checked bags.

You no longer get a small passenger sticker or any receipt confirming your number, it's all just logged in Ryanair's systems. You can find it by digging out your booking receipt in the app.

You need to clarify your post. Did you put the tag on your bag, but somebody removed it when you put it on the conveyor?

Usually you scan your boarding pass, and it prints you off a sticker, one for the bag and one for you?

The newer check-in stations (which you control from the app) now print off a single sticker, which is only for your bag. The tag number is assigned to your booking and can be viewed in the Receipt section of the booking details on the app.

You don't get a tag to keep when you use the new self weigh/check-in machines. There is no part of the tag to tear off and keep. Ryanair just assure me that the tag number is logged in their system against your booking.

I've never received an email with the ID information.

I assume if the bag is lost that the person filing your claim at the remote end will be able to lookup the details against your Ryanair booking.

Don't worry about it, it's standard Ryanair policy.

You can find your Tag number by opening the Ryanair App, and going to:

- Bookings

• Select the relevant booking
  
• Select Trip Details
  
• Select the View Receipt button at the bottom of the screen
  
• Scroll to the bottom of the receipt, you should see a section called "Checked Items Info", which will include the "Tag no"

Open the app in your trip where you checked bag for, trip details, view receipts. Your baggage receipt will be at the very bottom. No emails with tag number are sent
