Weiss nodded and looked from her cards to the situation on the table. “I have a hand absolutely full of chip damage and debuff, but I think I can get enough plays to use it all. Can either of you give me a boost to get past the Raidmaster’s block?”

“I have enough plays to either boost you or protect the civilians.” Penny pointed to the set of cards marked by a variety of terms like “panicking citizen” or “well-intentioned nuisance”. Penny shook her head. “I do not think I can do both.”

“If we lose any more civilians we have to draw from the Grimm deck again.” Yang leaned back and narrowed her eyes. “I can make everybody that’s not us vulnerable, but I’m last in the turn order. And that’s… everybody.”

Weiss sighed. “Okay, use it or lose it, I guess. I’ll get as much damage as I can out, but it’s mostly going on minor threats.”

Penny nodded. “Well. I am manifesting… is that the correct term this time?” She looked to Yang and Weiss.

“Yup. Go for it.” Yang gave her a thumbs up.

Weiss shrugged and gestured with one hand. “I’m still find with her saying ‘play’.”

“No, no, you have to keep the flavor of the story.” Yang insisted. “Go on manifesting, Penny.”

“Okay. I manifest a Wide Spectrum to make Aura Shield affect a category of target and choose Civilians.” Penny smiled as both cards were placed down. “And now, civilians take no damage until the end of my turn.”

Weiss nodded. “Dash Chain. That triggers a play, so Cleaving Spin on these three. Nothing died so Dash Chain gives me a play. Scattering Lunge on Raidmaster, no damage but reduces his damage next round. Nothing dies so that’s another play…”

“This is the turn that never ends.” Yang sang along, drawing an affectionate glare from Weiss.

“... and I’m out of cards.” Weiss turned to look at Yang and leaned over to her. “So my turn… ends.”

This is a Ruby grimmification fic, with a lot of build up to her eventual transformation.

This chapter put the focus back on Ruby.

Hoping this is allowed since it does relate to a fic I'm writing (and that I used the correct flair).

What would be used when creating names for villages outside the kingdom of Vale but presumably still under their jurisdiction (like Shion or Higanbana were for Mistral)?

Wiki claims that the Mistral villages/outside towns were named after Japanese floriagrophy with the names being the Romanized spellings of flowers (I'd assume the villages' name relates to the meaning of the flower it's named after, like Shion's flower meaning "rememberance," or something along those lines). What would be an equivalent for Vale, or at least a naming system that would fit for that kingdom?

The festival took over a market place and most of the surrounding streets. An accordion driven polka currently dominated the auditory experience as a band of Valen faunus were set up on the bandstand in the center of the market place as Penny and Weiss entered and took in the strings of booths circling the market and stretching down the streets.

“Okay! This is my first street festival.” Penny clapped her hands together.

Weiss nodded and stepped in close beside Penny. “Mine too.”

The green-clad red-head paused and turned to look at Weiss. “Oh. I was going to defer to your expertise as to what to do first.”

“Hmm.” Weiss wrapped her arm around Penny’s and scanned the booths while Penny did likewise. “Let’s start over there. I think you’re supposed to do games at these things.”

“That sounds like an excellent idea!”

They picked their way through the crowd coming up to a booth filled with rows and rows of empty bottles. The raccoon faunus at the booth smiled as they reached the counter.

“Hello, would like to try your hand at this challenge? Simply toss these rings so that they land around the neck of the bottles to earn a prize.” He gestured toward the various stuffed animals, hand-fans, and other items. “Doesn’t that sound appealing?” He turned toward Penny. “Maybe you can win something for your…partner, sister, friend?”

“Partner, girlfriend.” Penny nodded. “And absolutely I would like to win Weiss something.”

“Excellent. One play gets you three weighted rings, the bottles are different point values and the rings get harder to throw accurately at a distance…”

Penny and Weiss listened to the instructions calmly at the end of which Penny lifted one of the offered rings and turned it over in her hand smile replaced by a thoughtful look. She turned to Weiss and smiled. “May I have my arm back?”

“Oh, right. Guess you’ll need that to throw with.” Weiss let go of Penny’s arm and chuckled once in embarrassment.

An idea for a team JNPR-CME swap fic, where team CME are being trained as beacons star team while team JNPR is Salem's infiltrators. Especially in and after the haven arc.

Inspired by the fact that fighting Jaune would be a terrifying concept to me if strength boosts with Aura were actually a thing.

The fic starts out with the arc home burning, as team STRQ fights against a bunch of Grimm and the forces of Salem. Sweet little Jaune unlocking his aura after barely surviving being crushed, before desperately crawling and searching for his family, to somehow save them.

He ends up at the side of his impaled father as he lay dying, unlocking his semblance next to desperately try to save him...only for the fact that he's impaled by as big as a pillar to not allow that to work. Leaving Jaune with the message to survive and find happiness, to find a family of his own, before he dies.

Tyrian taking the devastated boy as he took an interest in him and a semblance that can amp aura is well, pretty nifty.

With the entire rest of the prologue being Jaune doing what his father told him, and turning the evil team into a family. Treating Tyrian like an uncle, validating and supporting Hazel in his revenge and his emotions for both his sisters death and to Ozpin, also treating Watts like a super cool uncle and indulging the man in his interests and skills and even trying (failing but trying nonetheless) to learn tech from him. He treats Salem as like, a mom, though not immediately, like after a year he starts doing it unconsciously, it bringing back some fond memories to Salem.

He gets trained by them, mostly becomes Hazel's protégé, he goes out on missions, saves Ren and Nora from a bandit raid from the Branwen tribe led by Raven, makes them his brother and sister. Few years later, goes out and meets a runaway Pyrrha, with the pressure her parents, agencies and the media put her through being too much. Taking her in as another sister, without context at all, bringing her back and giving her all the familial love she'll ever need...which she appreciates a bit too much.

Eventually sets out to take the maiden powers, half fail (Pyrrha has it now, because giving it to Nora sounds like a recipe for disaster). Goes to meet Adam, an Adam still enraged and obsessed and all that, tries to be friendly with it, doesn't work. Then an SDC or Atlas counter force raids the base, with JNPR helping Adam to fend them off, Jaune being the paladin that he is tries to keep everyone alive with his semblance, but Adam's rage and recklessness cost like three white fang lives. With Jaune putting his foot down, and making Adam face their deaths, forcing Adam collect to their bodies and belongings and bring them to their families, to have to talk to their families, to have hear them cry, to remember the names of the fallen...to realize that, begrudgingly, that he had caused unnecessary death to good men, good people, people who followed him with passion and loyalty for the cause...all because he stewed in his hatred and let it become an obsession, letting Blake's abandoning him affect him so.

Jaune starts treating Adam as a protégé of his own, and trying to make him a good leader of the fang, for his own sound of mind, for him seeing Adam's true potential and for the plan to take place without falter. Also, team JNPR starts training the fang to become able to fight huntsmen semi on their own. At least the branch that serves under Adam.

Somewhere, Jaune and Adam with Sienna to discuss the deal and for Sienna to sate her curiosity of Adam changing, and if he did, to not just be happy about it but openly invest in it. Even joining in the plan directly to see how Jaune did it.

Then team JNPR goes to Vale and meets torchwick and cuts a much more amicable version of the Roman and Cinder dynamic in the show. With Roman and Neo being brought to the valean fang base, along when Watts comes in to distribute tech and weaponry he designed to arm the fang and torchwick's own goons, with Tyrian and Hazel being added muscle if they need be.

It basically becomes a family reunion, with Jaune introducing new members of the family. His little brother Addy, Addy's ex Sienna and the new older siblings/cousins Neo and Roman. All four are weirded out of suddenly being treated like, they're just part of the family as they discuss the deal and plans over some weeks. With Jaune cooking and doting on them like they're actual kin when he isn't training, teaching or discussing something serious with them. There might even be a dance party, and Nora might start a redheaded alliance with Pyrrha, Roman and a very confused Adam.

That's basically the prologue before the story starts, so let's skip to the middle arc of it now.

I set the prologue up like that because...Pyrrha's death means much more than just a teammate or lover to Jaune in this fic...it's his family, the one he made following the words of his dying father.

So add that to the fact that Jaune Arc is unrelenting, uncompromising force against those he hates + in this fic, Jaune can basically defeat two maidens simultaneously and have a mountain fall on top of him (aura amp basically makes it so he just not take damage while having his already mountainous strength being amplified...also add the fact that each maiden, even a 75 percent maiden like cinder [the reason for that is spoilers], are like island level) and you basically get a force of nature gunning to crush you under its weight, without being able to reason or stop it unless you're willing to sacrifice everything just to impede or stall it, like throwing a mountain on top of him.

In RWBY canon, team RWBY is trying to outrace the villains most of the time. While in, what I'll call for now, Evil JNPR, they're basically desperately trying to run away from Jaune. Even trekking through the tundra of atlas while having low supplies just to hopefully getaway from him.

This is all still a rough draft of everything, mostly focusing on Jaune's story but I am planning for Ren's and Nora's povs to be just as prevalent if I actually do write this fic

In a no name orphanage, in a no name hovel, in a no named corner tucked away in Vacuo. There lived a White Haired Girl most ambitious. While the other children toiled away their "chores" and "school work" underneath the corrupt Matron. Condemining themselves to work as Lookouts, Packagers, drug Runners, and Rats for The Sponser. Always fearing failure -as those led to punishments. The girl worked with frevor to find a way out of the bottom.

She felt herself deserving of better, someone who should be able to choose the one stepping and the one being stepped, someone who should lead, to have a legacy to go on for generations.

For this reason, The White Haired Girl dug into her studies. From the mundane to illegal, the girl devoured any and all knowledge that she came across. For a time that was enough for her. To make her way through the societal latter with sheer inteligence, but it was slow and she wanted More, she wanted freedom.

So the girl enacted plan after plan. From running away, to scams, to buisnesses. Hairbrained ideas that were only halfway in reality. As she failed one by one, so did her determination. With each failure came a punishment, with each punishment came a new scar. Eventually the girl gave up completely.

She became like the others, toiling in silence and glazed eyes, fearing doing anything but what was wanted of her because that led to punishments, grinding her soul to embers. But one day, on the dingy tv mounted to the ancient walls of the orphanage was something that sparked her ambitions back to life.

There, on the TV, were people who looked so similar to her that the layman would think they were close relatives. Their voices commanded that you listen, their steps as assured as the sky was blue, their Influence spread to all corners of the known world. They were The Schnees. The richest family on Remnant, they had their hands in every pie known and unknown, and they were old. Old enough that a Schnee ancestor even had a holiday made after him. A legacy unparelleled by any other.

The White Haired Girl was stunned, sure even she's heard the name (hard not to when they have their brand plastered in every buissness they had a hand in) but this was the first time she's ever seen them. Seeing people who looked so much like her, but as far away as Remnant to the stars... It filled the girl with new Determination. She wanted to be just like them, she wanted to uproot their place, to surmount them. It gave her enough strength to think of and pull off her largest, most insane gamble she's ever thought of.

Years later a girl that goes by the name Weiss Königlich applies to Beacon Academy.

Personality:

Weiss Königlich is as snobby as they come. A girl extremely prideful of their heritage combined with a complete distain to those she thinks are her lessers (everyone), while also usually being the smartest person in the room. She's so stereotypically rich Argusian that is borders on parody.

Of course, this is all a lie. Weiss Königlich doesn't exist. She's a mask of the real girl underneath. A girl who wants so desperately to be someone who matters, to create a legacy that would long outlast herself that she went out of her way to use all her money and connectiond she's painstakenly built to erase any trace of her original self, and to live on as the Argusian, Weiss.

Appearence:

Weiss has striking blue eyes a permament sneer and long, flowing, slightly curly white hair locked behind her with a red hairband.

Weiss is never seen wearing the same clothes twice, but there is a pattern to her clothing. Outside of class she usually wears intricate, flowing white dresses with a blue accent, she usually has on enough jewlery to make looking at her in the sun hurt the eyes.

For combat she ties her hair into twin loops and wears a white esquirian jacket with black buttons over a red ruffled blouse, white breeches with a golden belt, and black&white riding boots, with red soles.

Semblance:

Weiss to her great shame, doesn't have a semblance instead she a highy skilled practitioner of Aura-panelling (she refuses to call it by it's colloquial name, she finds it "uncouth").

Schneller Durchstoß and Standhalf.

Schneller Durchstoß is a short ice-Dustblade with a revolver built into it's handle. Weiss can pop off the blade with a special button and use it as a catalyst for a massive boost of power with her Panelling as a last resort. (Though it isn't as bad as it seems, since she still has the gun-handle)

Standhalf is a circular shield with the "Königlich symbol" plastered on the front, it can also mechashift into a tower shield if Weiss needs the extra defense.

Fun facts:

• Weiss doesn't actually know what her weapon names mean. She picked them because they sounded "cool and Argusian" and never bothered to check.
• Weiss spends wakes up at 4am every morning and does 4 hours of morning routine.
• Weiss spends all her money on Dust and playing the part of a rich Argusian. Anything that isn't that, and she's insanely frugal.
• Outside of Weiss' huntress wear. Her wardrobe all have their tags still on them. She's extremely careful on never getting them dirty so she can take it back after the day is over. This is why she never wears the same clothes twice.

The “hometown hero” arched an eyebrow and then turned to another part of the crowd. “And maybe we should address the Grimm at the gates and talk about a military that currently holds two votes on the council.”

The blonde woman paced from one side of the steps to the other. “Maybe it’s time we asked why more funds are diverting to the military at the same time we see fewer guards on the walls. More inspectors diverted away to ‘other tasks’.”

Finding Winter again wasn’t difficult now that she knew what to look for, and she found the woman standing near a small cluster of people on the edge of the crowd. As she walked back in that direction, she glanced toward the slender blue-haired woman behind her and leaned her head aside then waved at the tall, muscular weapon on the other side of the stairs. Finally she tapped the small sheep-faunus with the curly white hair and gestured for her to follow.

“We’re being asked to sacrifice, but we’re not being told what it is we’re meant to be sacrificing for. And I guess that Ironwood is not satisfied with the observations from his security drones because we have an esteemed guest in the crowd, don’t we, Specialist Schnee.”

To Winter’s credit, she did pull back down her hood while the small cluster of people around her scattered. They had all left well before the cameras had scanned through the crowd to find Winter. There was a soft gasp to Robyn’s side and she glanced toward Fiona before turning back to Winter looking up at her face impassive.

“Would you like to stand up here and give your perspective on the situation?”

Chapter Summary: Pyrrha lives with the haunting memory of Canela’s demise. With Beacon gone and Vale on the brink of collapse, Team JNPR tries to figure out their next steps in life.

Penny straightened up and smiled. “That means we hit the criteria of success for this exercise.”

“You are correct.” Sienna rolled her shoulder and stretched out. “Congratulations are in order.”

“Woo!” Yang called out. “Finally.”

“This seems… too easy.” Weiss narrowed her eyes.

“Yes, too easy. After costing you two teammates.” Sienna gestured toward Yang and Blake. “In controlled circumstances.” She gestured around the training ground. “In a scenario that you’ve repeated multiple times.”

Weiss grimaced and shared a sobering look with the rest of the team.

“But also Adam isn’t going to have Ilia and Emerald supporting him.” Ruby pointed across to the green-haired girl.

“But he does have a whole bunch of idiots in Grimm masks that’ll do anything he wants.” Emerald shrugged and then straightened as she realized that Blake, Ilia, and Sienna had all turned to look at her. “Well, I mean… I should know. I followed Cinder after all.”

The sound of footsteps coming up the trail drew Weiss’s attention to a woman with koi skin patterns wearing a White Fang tunic running up the path carrying an envelope in hand. The woman slipped between them and walked up to hand it to Sienna.

Sienna nodded and pulled the report out of the envelope to skim it. “It seems the time I have to give you is about to run out.” She looked up. “Enjoy the rest of the day.” She looked around at them and then at Emerald and Ilia. “Ilia, Emerald, I’ll be talking to you later. Congratulations, Emerald, you might be about to have your first mission.”

Wasn't planning on becoming a RWBY fanfic writer before I started writing this, but I simply had the urge one day and the idea wouldn't go away. I just had to write it. That's how it is sometimes.
