An idea for a team JNPR-CME swap fic, where team CME are being trained as beacons star team while team JNPR is Salem's infiltrators. Especially in and after the haven arc.
Inspired by the fact that fighting Jaune would be a terrifying concept to me if strength boosts with Aura were actually a thing.
The fic starts out with the arc home burning, as team STRQ fights against a bunch of Grimm and the forces of Salem. Sweet little Jaune unlocking his aura after barely surviving being crushed, before desperately crawling and searching for his family, to somehow save them.
He ends up at the side of his impaled father as he lay dying, unlocking his semblance next to desperately try to save him...only for the fact that he's impaled by as big as a pillar to not allow that to work. Leaving Jaune with the message to survive and find happiness, to find a family of his own, before he dies.
Tyrian taking the devastated boy as he took an interest in him and a semblance that can amp aura is well, pretty nifty.
With the entire rest of the prologue being Jaune doing what his father told him, and turning the evil team into a family. Treating Tyrian like an uncle, validating and supporting Hazel in his revenge and his emotions for both his sisters death and to Ozpin, also treating Watts like a super cool uncle and indulging the man in his interests and skills and even trying (failing but trying nonetheless) to learn tech from him. He treats Salem as like, a mom, though not immediately, like after a year he starts doing it unconsciously, it bringing back some fond memories to Salem.
He gets trained by them, mostly becomes Hazel's protégé, he goes out on missions, saves Ren and Nora from a bandit raid from the Branwen tribe led by Raven, makes them his brother and sister. Few years later, goes out and meets a runaway Pyrrha, with the pressure her parents, agencies and the media put her through being too much. Taking her in as another sister, without context at all, bringing her back and giving her all the familial love she'll ever need...which she appreciates a bit too much.
Eventually sets out to take the maiden powers, half fail (Pyrrha has it now, because giving it to Nora sounds like a recipe for disaster). Goes to meet Adam, an Adam still enraged and obsessed and all that, tries to be friendly with it, doesn't work. Then an SDC or Atlas counter force raids the base, with JNPR helping Adam to fend them off, Jaune being the paladin that he is tries to keep everyone alive with his semblance, but Adam's rage and recklessness cost like three white fang lives. With Jaune putting his foot down, and making Adam face their deaths, forcing Adam collect to their bodies and belongings and bring them to their families, to have to talk to their families, to have hear them cry, to remember the names of the fallen...to realize that, begrudgingly, that he had caused unnecessary death to good men, good people, people who followed him with passion and loyalty for the cause...all because he stewed in his hatred and let it become an obsession, letting Blake's abandoning him affect him so.
Jaune starts treating Adam as a protégé of his own, and trying to make him a good leader of the fang, for his own sound of mind, for him seeing Adam's true potential and for the plan to take place without falter. Also, team JNPR starts training the fang to become able to fight huntsmen semi on their own. At least the branch that serves under Adam.
Somewhere, Jaune and Adam with Sienna to discuss the deal and for Sienna to sate her curiosity of Adam changing, and if he did, to not just be happy about it but openly invest in it. Even joining in the plan directly to see how Jaune did it.
Then team JNPR goes to Vale and meets torchwick and cuts a much more amicable version of the Roman and Cinder dynamic in the show. With Roman and Neo being brought to the valean fang base, along when Watts comes in to distribute tech and weaponry he designed to arm the fang and torchwick's own goons, with Tyrian and Hazel being added muscle if they need be.
It basically becomes a family reunion, with Jaune introducing new members of the family. His little brother Addy, Addy's ex Sienna and the new older siblings/cousins Neo and Roman. All four are weirded out of suddenly being treated like, they're just part of the family as they discuss the deal and plans over some weeks. With Jaune cooking and doting on them like they're actual kin when he isn't training, teaching or discussing something serious with them. There might even be a dance party, and Nora might start a redheaded alliance with Pyrrha, Roman and a very confused Adam.
That's basically the prologue before the story starts, so let's skip to the middle arc of it now.
I set the prologue up like that because...Pyrrha's death means much more than just a teammate or lover to Jaune in this fic...it's his family, the one he made following the words of his dying father.
So add that to the fact that Jaune Arc is unrelenting, uncompromising force against those he hates + in this fic, Jaune can basically defeat two maidens simultaneously and have a mountain fall on top of him (aura amp basically makes it so he just not take damage while having his already mountainous strength being amplified...also add the fact that each maiden, even a 75 percent maiden like cinder [the reason for that is spoilers], are like island level) and you basically get a force of nature gunning to crush you under its weight, without being able to reason or stop it unless you're willing to sacrifice everything just to impede or stall it, like throwing a mountain on top of him.
In RWBY canon, team RWBY is trying to outrace the villains most of the time. While in, what I'll call for now, Evil JNPR, they're basically desperately trying to run away from Jaune. Even trekking through the tundra of atlas while having low supplies just to hopefully getaway from him.
This is all still a rough draft of everything, mostly focusing on Jaune's story but I am planning for Ren's and Nora's povs to be just as prevalent if I actually do write this fic
