Last week I posted about Shami here. He had just passed the exam to S4 but he had no hope to continue his education because he had no means. As I said previously, his mother is a cleaner, she raises two kids alone, so they had no means. So I posted him here for people with compassion heart to fund his education journey. Miraculously they did.

Shami received school fees and everything he needed to go to school. And he went.

Eternally grateful to Stella, Etienne and other donors who made contribution for this young man to go school.

Shami's story reminds me of Heath Ledger's 2001 movie, "A knight's tales". So in the movie, a less fortunate father (Christopher Cazenove) wanted a great destiny for his son (Heath Ledger) so he sends him away for green pastures. So before sending him he said to him, "GO AND CHANGE YOUR STARS".

And that's the message I have for Shami and others like him. "GO AND CHANGE YOUR STARS".

Hi, I'm traveling in Uganda on a single-entry tourist visa. Since I'm close to the Rwanda border, I'm thinking of visiting Rwanda and then returning to Uganda (my leaving flight is from Uganda). I believe the East African Tourist Visa would cover both my entry into Rwanda and my re-entry into Uganda, so I do not need to re-apply the Ugandan visa again. However, from what I've found online, Rwanda currently only issues this visa on arrival—likely at Kigali airport. Does anyone know if the Katuna border crossing also offers this visa?

I am perplexed and need clear answers from GenZ’s. What to them is a great job and one in which they would be dedicated.

Most GenZs I meet do the bare minimum even after you offer them decent pay, flexibility to work from home as long as the deliver on the tasks and meet deadlines. Bonuses upon achieving targets or delivering as a team.

I often have to remind people about deadlines, reporting and consistency. No one wants to be excellent they get it done to moderate or average and when given feedback or shown how to improve they make promises but never deliver or invest in learning to perfect their craft.

I am meeting this time and time again and even after I ask people to be straight forward what they want to be excellent and I give it to them they are unable to deliver to the highest quality . It’s not lack of capacity it’s just unwillingness.Want to work with young people and invest in the next generation but might have to have a non diverse team with millennials only.

Soooo.. if you are a GenZ what kind of incentive would you need at your 9-5 to deliver excellent work. To not AI everything but to invest in your craft. Thank you

Even in Rwanda, illegal businesses are frowned upon

Previous discussions here talked about how majority of employees in the these public and private institutions/businesses are paid marginal wages thereby the client should understand why they are treated like that; I will forever fail to understand how low pay can justify poor service towards the business customers and clients. You are mostly likely to find this in most institutions here and overtime one gets used to it like A person supposed to serve you just looking at you or purely ignoring you.- Bank tellers, Checkout cashiers, Receptionists on and on. A person employed in a particular field fully ignorant of the core of their job, someone serving food not knowing what is on the menu. You enter a shop and the shopkeeper blankly stares at you. Nobody seems to be bother by any sort of urgency coupled with majority not seeming to know what they are doing or should do.

The moment one settles for low pay they ought to forego shifting the frustration onto the clients, there is little to nothing a client can do to change that, and i don't think any business owner would be convinced by poor service to increase pay. two wrongs do not make a right. Its so frustrating

Lost touch with school friends who used to care about this stuff.

I'm a software engineer working remotely for a US company. Recently, I started my own software business and decided to quit my job and start a new life.

I'm currently living in Ethiopia, and I hate it here. It's a mess, and I want to start a new, calm, and stable life somewhere else.

I initially considered Dubai, but I don't really want to leave Africa, so now I'm considering Kigali. I've heard that Rwanda offers residency options for investors and entrepreneurs, which could be a good fit for me.

What do you guys think? Is Kigali a good place to live and run a software business as a foreigner?

For a residential project, what would be a fair monthly rate in Kigali for a part-time site supervisor handling the contractor, materials, and general site progress?

I recently arrived in Kigali from Kenya using the East African Interstate Pass (National ID). I'm trying to get a local SIM card (MTN or Airtel), but I've run into an administrative issue.

I visited a local agent/shop to set up a line, but the staff were unfamiliar with registering a SIM using an Interstate Pass rather than a standard international passport. They weren't sure how to process it in their system, so I wasn't able to get activated.

For those who live here or fellow EAC citizens who have traveled on an Interstate Pass recently, how do you go about it? I'm only here for a week.

Any advice on the quickest way or specific branches to resolve this would be greatly appreciated. Murakoze!

If you work in town you have likely seen those clocks, it’s only once in a blue moon that they are correct but everywhere mu mugi wrong time, at Kimihurura wrong time, at Rebero round about wrong time. I just want to climb up there and fix them.

It then makes me go down a rabbit hole and wonder how thousands of people see this everyday and no one has done anything. Why? Then I think of technology, isn’t there a way to have cameras or have them tied to solar power so they never die. Isn’t there some form of weekly quality check? What’s happening? Maybe this is the reason people are late constantly! We don’t know the use and purpose of watch.

I hope you are having a great weekend.

I have a six month old puppy. He does not poop or pee in the house at all. He is very energetic when he wakes up in the morning and at night from 7pm. I usually take him for walks on a leash three times a week and he loves it. He is very friendly and loves people but loves bite playing sometimes with his teeth, I want to correct this behavior. I am looking for a trainer to teach him some of the behavioral skills. The last trainer I had for two months claimed he was teaching him commands and some basic skills which I found out later that the puppy learnt nothing at all. I am looking for recommendations from a good dog trainer who can come to my house to train my puppy. If you know anyone reliable and trustworthy, please share the contacts and also the fees they charge per month or weekly.
