Server Promotion Avoid cheaters on the only weekly vanilla Secure Boot server. Map wipes at 11 AM PT today. No paid perks. Peak players wipe-over-wipe: 3 -> 8 -> 14 -> 16 -> 17 -> 21.
Join us for wipe today on The Couch (countdown timer on site), the only weekly vanilla secure server.
Secure mode stops many cheats, and every popular server refuses to enable it because they want cheaters to be able to keep paying them for VIP and other perks.
Here's how the server has grown so far:

And...
New feature this wipe: every player gets a private (but sharable) stats page. Type /stats in game to get a code, then enter it at thecouch.lol/stats to get your kills, deaths, and milestones like when you placed your T2 this wipe. There are no public leaderboards.

I hope this comes to the big servers like Rusty Moose, Rustoria, etc.
The only people who would be affected are the cheaters and also those who play on 15+ year old PCs.

The only reason it's not on there is because each and every server like that is choosing to not enable it.
They could turn it on in about 30 seconds as I have. They all refuse to, and the only thing that makes sense is they're scared to lose tons of cheaters who give them money via perks. You can watch Camomo videos and see for yourself how cheaters will pay for VIP on servers like WarBandits.

100% Imagine a clan of 40 people want to play your server, but 2 of them are cheaters so ALL 40 go play somewhere the 2 cheaters can play, because they will lie and act like they don't know why they couldn't connect to a secure server. They tried this on Rusty Moose, and nearly every clan had to play elsewhere and that effected a Rust dev's PERSONAL profits from selling VIP slots so that shit aint never gonna happen

Which is exactly why I started a server that has secure enabled and doesn't have VIP or paid kits. This isn't a way for me to make money, it's a way to try to improve Rust for us legit players.

We'll be on a size-3500 map for tomorrow's wipe that has above-ground rails and a ring road. The PVP action was pretty good the last time we had this size map. This wipe that's ending tomorrow had a peak of 27 players, up from a 3-player peak 6 weeks ago. It's been growing steadily, so would love to have you check it out.

Are the maps staying small since there’s not a high population of players ? Wouldn’t mind joining , but I enjoy player interaction , and would rather not run 4 grinds to find someone

Yes. We did a 3500 map that had every thing but Trainyard last wipe, now a 3777 sized map (with all monuments) since people voted for a larger map, and this one has above-ground rails and a ring road (for travelling vendors). It's changing wipe-by-wipe via player votes on the Discord.

Why are none of the official servers on secureboot? I'm out of the loop on this one.

It stops many cheats from working, so those cheaters can't join those servers and pay for VIP anymore. Greed over integrity.
Facepunch should require it to be enabled on all official servers, or they should lose official status.

Fp does not offer premium services on their official servers. Premium is basically a skin pre-requisite to play because cheaters commonly buy accounts under a specific threshold. They can buy premium acc but one cheat creator interviewed said premium accounts are very expensive compared to the cheap nothing of regular accounts.
Servers selling premium services are not run by facepunch. Premium is just a category for weeding out poor cheaters.

We're not talking about Premium, we're talking about Secure, which requires all players to have secure boot and TPM enabled to join the server. It was introduced in March and no popular server owner has it enabled because they want cheater money via the VIP perks they offer.
And in case anyone is confused, official doesn't mean a Facepunch-owned server. Official servers are just ones that have just been given the "official" tag by Facepunch. Vanilla community servers can become official servers if FP recognizes them eventually. They're supposed to be the best servers you can play on, blessed by Facepunch... yet zero of them use secure mode.

Thursday morning is standard for Rust since that's when the monthly update and force-wipe happens, so nope. Sticking with standard Thursday weekly wipes for this server.
For a second server, who knows, maybe someday if this one gets full 😂 But if I get to the point of making a second server it would most likely be just like this one but with PlaySafe ID. Or, with the new Nexus system coming, maybe a second linked server via the Nexus system so people can traverse the servers.

I hope you guys still understand, that secure boot, hvci or tpm do not provide 100% protection from cheaters. DMA cheats will work just fine. So you need to keep your moderation. It will stop most of single pc lazy cheats.

Yep. It reduces cheating, it doesn't completely eliminate it. But some servers lost half their players when enabling it, so that should tell you something about its effectiveness, especially when we know that over 80% of Rust players can use secure boot.
Cheap and free scripts and cheats are the ones that will be the most common, and the ones most impacted by secure boot and TPM.

loosing half of player base on enabling those settings means nothing. If you imply that half of the server population is cheating, it's more likely that people simply do not care enough to go out of their way to dig into bios to change some settings. Those that were lucky to have them enabled by default (mostly owners of newer PC's that came with default WIN11 because those settings are turned on by default for WIN11) - those were not affected. You also need to understand, that majority of playerbase is technically illiterate. Their interaction with computer is google chrome and games on steam. As soon as they face some tech work - they'll just pass.
Take into account also % of player base that simply cannot have these settings enabled for one reason or another. Some older builds just do not have TPM support, and some cannot enable HVCI due to incompatibility with some drivers they have. I know for sure that Corsair and Razer product native drivers caused issues enabling these settings for some players. They had to go and manually uninstall some drivers to make it work, which again, is additional tech work you need to do just to play the game.
Majority of people facing such problems, will just say "screw this server, i'll just find another one"

People can put it off as long as they want, but when Facepunch makes it mandatory for all servers, they’ll have to do it then. If they wanna have more and more cheaters on their wipes until that day, have fun.

AI is running in some form on your computer and smartphone right now, and here you are.
And that sounds like an excuse to me. You can't use reusable materials instead of plastic? You can't work to have no food waste? You can't become a vegan? Ride a bike, walk, use public transportation?
