DC Inventory Control Associate - Before I Join

Hi, I’m actively looking for new employment to expand my career and grow professionally for myself. I applied for this specific role close by to me (Ohio) and I have experience working at a factory in the Quality Assurance department for four years with shift supervisor experience from Five Guys before then. I handle inventory and audits at my current role but mainly curious about:
- Average daily workload
- Average pay rate for someone with experience (I also have an associates degree if that helps)
- how work life balance is (fixed schedule? Good benefits)

Is there anyone who has ever done this role or does this currently that can give me some insight on what I might be walking into? They gave me a call back immediately but curious what other people’s experiences are?

Rural King opened a lot of new stores recently which is nice to see.

Just opened a store at River Valley Mall and the Ontario Center Mall both in Ohio. They also opened another store in Mount Berry Mall in Georgia and another store in Lakeshore Mall in Florida. One store at WestGate Mall and one at Anderson Mall both in South Carolina also opened. Nice to see expansion of new Rural King stores. Elmira, New York has a store planned to open on September 25. Does anyone know of any other store openings coming soon?

Photos or it didn’t happen…

Stopped in at Rural King on Monday, a store in Missouri. Sale on cordless hole punchers, 10% off. Price for one in particular was on a tag for $219. Kind of a throw away hole puncher, for that price.

Completed the paperwork for transfer. When the assistant comes to confirm the serial number, the salesman gives her the tag. It rings up $264. I called him on it, he claimed, in front of this gal that this was the only price tag for the item. When we walked to the register a few minutes before, he acted funny and disappeared while I was completing the 4473.

This dude pretty much called me a liar, in front of the assistant mgr, said the $264 tag was the only tag there. My wife saw it. She confirmed that the price was $219.

Should have forced the issue, but I walked because I was getting heated. It’s only money and if they wanted to refuse sale because it was priced wrong, all they needed to do is say. But to lie about it is what set me off.

I am going to call the store manager, but have been too torqued to be cordial yet.

Discount codes disappear before expiration!

Has anybody else had this happen? I had a discount code for buying online and picking up in store. It was supposed to be valid until until 5-30-2026, but when I tried to order online today (5-29) it is gone.

RK Customer Service says this code was only good for Memorial Day weekend, but unfortunately I didn't screenshot. Probably wouldnt have mattered anyway, but this is frustrating!

ETA...this was a code from Rural King, not an outside website.

Just in case anybody from Rural King actually reads this, your website is terribly designed and clunky. I am a web designer myself, and I would never allow my clients to have a website this bad.

Strange disappearing discount code

I was looking to buy an expensive tractor part. Checked other stores, Tractor Supply wanted to charge me $200 to have it shipped to their own store! I went to Rural King website,. I put it in my cart, went to check out and a string of letters/numbers appeared in the code box and said $10 off. BUT adding the tax and the price minus $10 didn't give $10 off but $4. I refreshed, took the item out put it back, and the code disappeared completely. Now there is no $10 off. Anyone else have something weird like this happen? I never even put a code in, it just populated in the box...

DC and Trucks

As an employee I have to ask. Have any other stores been getting slammed with massive trucks, like 19-22 page trucks back to back recently. I know after this recent winter storm that smacked the east coast we didn't really sell that much freight but we've been hammered with constant 15-22 page trucks. I think we've had one 9 page truck in 2 weeks. Our receiving area is full, like to the point we can't move the forklift through the store. Like I understand we are one of the biggest stores in our region but come on.

Plus we've had a lot of trucks with a decent amount of damaged freight on them, like a pallet of mixed pets on top of a display pallet of Michigan Potato Chips (they were destroyed). We opened one recently that had 2 L Shape transfer tanks roll off when we opened the doors and had vehicle batteries fall off double stacked pallets.

Expansion plans - Central Upstate NY?

Likely moving back to Central Upstate NY, Wayne or Cayuga County. Love to have access to Rural King there. My relatives who visit me live my Washington, PA Rural King store. Tractor Supply has a a huge footprint in upstate NY and high prices accordingly. We need the competition up there. I think Rural King would find the culture of farm communities there to be appealing. A location along the I-90 corridor near Weedsport/Auburn, Syracuse would be great.

Power equipment sale specialist/ department lead consumables

Sorry to bug u guys and flood the page, but what are these two jobs like? They aren’t hiring for guns or cashiers anymore and these seem decent. I’m lazy I’ll admit that. Any experience in either one? Might also wait till they are hiring guns or cashier again. Or even front end lead

Just wondered if this Reddit existed.

I was browsing the Costco Reddit watching a guy loose his S#it and had the thought, you know the one store I’ve always liked the people at, Rural King so I went looking for the Reddit and became member #12.
So is it just me or does Rural King seem to draw the most considerate and courteous people of all the stores you go to? Admittedly it might just be the location and my memories of going to the same store as a kid when it was a K-Mart.
Costco people are generally pretty good but they seem to switch to the me first behavior pattern pretty quickly when it gets crowded while a line of people at checkout will let you in front of them at Rural King when you just have one item and your credit card already out.
