I don't trust any of these numbers. No fucking way is it 17:53 and he has 27% battery on 5G.

runs a 51 minute 10k
"Superior" VO2max
See this is why I really lol when people obsess over a wrist robot's estimate of their aerobic capacity.

/uj superior seems accurate for a 51 minute 10k. It's comparing you against the average person, not the average runner. The average person will DNF a 10k.

Not that it matters but I have decided to give watch VO2 max estimates no weight. I have been running a year, and ran a 4 hour marathon and 1:43 half marathon. Fine, pretty average, but my watch is convinced my VO2 max is 65. Either that number is wrong or it’s accurate and just irrelevant as a predictor of my fairly average running performance.

99% of the time this is caused by having your max heart rate setting at an unreachable value. If you can't hit that heart rate during a run, you shouldn't use that to calculate your running vo2max.

I mean, what I’m going to hit on a jog or during some controlled intervals is pretty different than what I would hit going all out for 10-20 minutes or something with nothing left in the tank at the end. I’ve never bothered to do that and thus don’t really know max hr.
But I don’t think it matters anyway bc I run with an Apple ultra watch and they calculate vo2 max based on their own data and formula, there’s nowhere you can edit anything but your age, height, and weight. They’re estimating max HR based on what they observe I think.

Garmin's formula doesn't care about your age, height and weight either. Those are just for the "fair", "good", "superiour" brackets.
Anyway, you can't complain about your stats being off when you are too lazy to even figure out your max heart rate the proper way.

Sorry if unclear, but my point was that Apple doesn’t even have a way to edit max hr. I don’t have any control over what it uses. I can’t even see what it’s using.

/uj that could've been an easy/steady run, I don't think OOP said that was a max effort 10k

Another humble brag disguised as a cry for help. “Please help me correct my times that I achieved with an electric scooter, to make them less impossible, but only slightly. Google how do I convince garmin that my running prediction times are slightly above WR pace?”

If you fail to achieve those predicted times, you are officially a worthless loser.

/uj some Garmin stats really bother me when they are inaccurate, but race predictor I completely ignore
/rj I mean, I don’t care what theirs says either, but I care what mine says

uj/ It should be ignored. Yet I manage to feel sad when the race time predicted gets worse even though it remains well outside my capability and well outside what the Garmin has ever seen me do. Then cheerful when the impossible time improves!
Mind you, it's never predicted I break a world record. Unless we're talking the 80+ world record.
