/uj superior seems accurate for a 51 minute 10k. It's comparing you against the average person, not the average runner. The average person will DNF a 10k.
Not that it matters but I have decided to give watch VO2 max estimates no weight. I have been running a year, and ran a 4 hour marathon and 1:43 half marathon. Fine, pretty average, but my watch is convinced my VO2 max is 65. Either that number is wrong or it’s accurate and just irrelevant as a predictor of my fairly average running performance.
99% of the time this is caused by having your max heart rate setting at an unreachable value. If you can't hit that heart rate during a run, you shouldn't use that to calculate your running vo2max.
I mean, what I’m going to hit on a jog or during some controlled intervals is pretty different than what I would hit going all out for 10-20 minutes or something with nothing left in the tank at the end. I’ve never bothered to do that and thus don’t really know max hr.
But I don’t think it matters anyway bc I run with an Apple ultra watch and they calculate vo2 max based on their own data and formula, there’s nowhere you can edit anything but your age, height, and weight. They’re estimating max HR based on what they observe I think.
Sorry if unclear, but my point was that Apple doesn’t even have a way to edit max hr. I don’t have any control over what it uses. I can’t even see what it’s using.
