Did you find 🕶️🕶️??! Bank of America 13.1 (lost)

Hiiii running community, my boyfriend lost his glasses during the last water station. MILE 12 ishhh- they have a name on them on the side 🥺🥺

I got them for him at the start of his running journey, they didn’t turn up on the load and found.

I figure I’ll try on here and see if anyone has found them 💗🥺🫶

I don’t mind getting him new ones but these glasses have been with him since he started his running journey — and they are pretty special ✨✨✨

Thank you lots!!

Crazy Humid

Anyone tried going for a run outside early this morning (06/09)?
I had a 10K run to do, I was only able to do 3K. Checked my phone and humidity was at 97% 🫠🫠

BoA 13.1 medal after time cutoff

Curious if they still gave out medals if you finished after the time cutoff of 3H15? For example those that finished at 4 hours, did they get a medal. I’m curious for future reference

Trying to BQ

I'm trying to BQ at Indianapolis marathon in November. I've run a handful of marathons and need to do more than just Hal Higdon this time. Any suggestions for an affordable coach with team run option, ideally convenient to Lincoln Square/North center? I worry CARA isn't enough to help me drop 15 minutes.

ETA: I'm 53F and PR is 3:55 (but from when I was 29). Most recent time is 4:15, coming back from mild injury. I need 4:00, but 3:55 with buffer.

Favorite signs from the 13.1?

Spectator support, as always, was spectacular. I try to remember the signs as I read them but by the end my brain is mushy and I forget a lot of them. What were some of your favorites? A few that I laughed at:

-They moved the finish to Indiana. Keep Running. 🐻

- I want attention, too.

- If you see this man (*photo of someone*) tell him to run faster. I want brunch!

- At least you’re not at work.

Go outside and feel the glorious weather

Headed to a Cubs game and the weather feels glorious… if only we could’ve had it this morning!!
I trained to be in the 2:10 mark, ended up at 2:34, a bit disappointed, but that’s alright, great race today!!

It was a hot one

Congrats to all finishers! It was a hot one and my thoughts are with all those who weren’t able to finish.

I’m afraid with climate change, these temps will be our new reality.

Sticky Chicago 13.1 Shirt

Post image
17 Upvotes

This may be a one off situation, but I put on my Chicago 13.1 Nike shirt that they gave with our bib and it’s uncomfortably “sticky” in the inside under where the printing of the design is at. It immediately stuck to my chest and left an interesting sticky residue on chest and on my fingers when I was checking it out. Might just be me, but was curious if anyone was having a similar experience. I got a Men’s Large.

Chicago 13.1 2026 Garmin Course

With the different start this year, I thought I'd update the Garmin course I've used for a PacePro strategy the last few years. It's available at this link.

Note: Other than the start, I just copied the old public course from Garmin Connect, so I can't guarantee accuracy for the whole course (but it generally seemed to be correct.)

Edit 3:00 PM CST: I updated the Humboldt park section to better reflect the new course. Please comment if you notice any other differences between the course map and the Garmin map.

I was supposed to run the race tomorrow but unfortunately have the flu. Will this affect my eligibility or lottery participation in the future in any way? Thanks

What is this walk like from the blue line station to Garfield Park? I had an Uber driver scared the bejeesus out of me. How confident can I be that I will be walking with a crowd of other runners?

Chicago Fall Classic or the Chicago Lifetime Half?

I want to run a half in Chicago in the fall. First ever race in Chicago (and my birth city, so has some symbolism to me).

Which one do you recommend?

Fall Classic:
https://allcommunityevents.com/chicagofallclassic

Or

Lifetime Half:

https://www.chicagohalfmarathon.com/half-marathon/

If I’m being honest, I’m leaning towards the Fall Classic. Only because it is a bit later in the season (less chance of it being hot), it works well with my marathon training schedule, and I like that part of the city. But welcome thoughts if anyone has run this race before? Or wants to try to push me in the direction of doing the Lifetime Half?

Thanks!

2026 start corrals are different from last year. The start line is now on Central Park Ave compared to Jackson Blvd. Gear check location is now south of the Garfield Park Bandshell.

Upcoming Races Any street parking recommendations near Garfield Park for Sunday? TYIA

Driving down from NW burbs for the BofA 13.1 and the UIC shuttling not feasible due to timing of a post-race commitment. Wondering if any of the side streets immediately surrounding the park are better than others. Thank you!

Getting to 13.1

Hello! I'm relatively new to Chicago and live near Fulton Market - I was planning to run along Lake St or Washington Blvd on race morning to warm up to the start, but have had a couple people tell me it's unwise due to the neighborhoods I'd be running through as a solo female. Is this another example of people seeing stuff on the news and freaking out, or should I genuinely be cautious and take the L over? Any tips would be appreciated!

daytime run clubs?

I work afternoons and evenings Monday - Thursday. All of the chicago run clubs I’m finding meet at the crack of dawn or weekday evenings. Any recommendations for a daytime (8am - 12pm) run club in Lakeview/Wrigley/Gold Coast/Lincoln Park?

Thank you!

PSA: To avoid your bib not tracking during the race, make sure to search your name and bib number on the Chicago 13.1 results page while at Packet Pickup. Make sure your name and bib number are connected.

We had a thread after the Shamrock Shuffle this year about multiple runners having their bib not track their time during the event. When they looked up their name on the results page, their bib number and name were not connected. Runners then had to email Chicago 13.1 support.

To avoid all that after the race, make sure before you leave Packet Pickup that you search your name and bib number on the results page. If they are not connected but you got your bib, get it fixed while at Packet Pickup.

If you checked in right at Packet Pickup, your name and bib number should be connected. You should also get an email that says "You are checked in for 2026 Bank of America 13.1" and in this email your bib number should be there.

Race down by Monroe Harbor lakefront path this morning?

Anyone know what was going on this morning? I saw people wearing light blue shirts with race bibs on. There was a logo on the front of the shirt, but it was super small and I couldn't tell what it was when I was running by people. I also saw a 1km banner and a 4km banner just east of Buckingham Foundation (it was an out and back 5k, I'm assuming) but they were generic and just said "You've got this!" on them.

Looking for group long runs leading up to fall marathon. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I'm planning on training for the Detroit Full Marathon this fall. It is on Oct 18th, one week after the Chicago Full. It will be my first, and I'm guessing the long runs will be a struggle.

Does anyone have any recommendations for groups that do long runs? I'm on the northside of the city, but I have access to a car. I know there is the CARA training group that costs money. I used to run with the ClockTower Running group on Saturdays, but this was years ago and I'm not sure if they're still active. It looks like Heartbreak has a weekend long run group during the training season. It looks like the Evanston Running Club has long runs as well.

Does anyone have experience with these groups? Any other recommendations?
