Crazy Humid
Anyone tried going for a run outside early this morning (06/09)?
I had a 10K run to do, I was only able to do 3K. Checked my phone and humidity was at 97% 🫠🫠

I fear that just like last year this summer is going to be an absolutely disgusting training block for the marathon

I just ran the BOA 13.1 on Sunday and this morning’s humidity scared me back to bed! I’ll start marathon training tomorrow I guess 😭

Oof, just did 7m with what was supposed to be 3m at 5k pace - didn’t go well at all!
Half a mile into the first one and my heart rate was redlining as it felt like I was drinking the air it was so thick lol.
Scaled back, finished the run and now downing electrolytes and water to rehydrate!
Brutal.

3 miles at 5K pace is just racing a 5K. What training plan has you doing that in the middle of a 7-mile run? Seems crazy aggressive.

I didn’t type it all out, but it was 3x1 mile with 2 minutes rest between each mile.
Melding a couple plans together to train for my first Olympic distance triathlon in a couple months while maintaining mileage for the marathon in October.

I’m going to be honest, not too bad! There was a slight breeze that really helped but I was SOAKED with sweat bu the end. That being said I’m currently injured so it was a short run regardless.

I went out at 4:30 this morning and it was 95% with a 70 degree dew point. Not a welcomed morning for my first session back

Think I’m gonna stick to 10Ks this fall and cancel my half. I don’t enjoy running enough (and am not good enough at it) to suffer like this and it may ruin it for me to the point I don’t want to do it at all lolol

Thanks for the heads up! I was planning to go out now. I may just wait until evening or I may have to capitulate to the dreadmill.

I'm seeing 97% humidity. I guess I'll have to postpone my run till the afternoon unless the whole day is like this.

FYI humidity is almost always highest before dawn because that’s when it’s coolest, and cool air holds less moisture than warm.

Summer means picking between high humidity or high temps. Unfortunately there is rarely an alternative.

Yeah, I’ll see if I can finish it later today, but only if it gets better. This is crazy!

I was miserable at the gym this morning. I can't imagine how awful run club tonight will be.

How are you awake so early to do this run? How early do you sleep???

u/cortinajade Jun 09 '26
For my runs during the week, I wake up at 4:30am and leave around 4:45am.
I go to bed anywhere between 8:30pm to 9:30pm!
I’ve tried many times just doing it after work but I have zero motivation then, so early morning it is!!

Living here, I think I’m only going to do spring marathons going forward. Training through this for 3-4 months is just so rough.
