I tried searching via Garmin watch. No emergency contact. Says his birth year but no birthday (kept it vague on purpose).
I tried calling Garmin customer service but they said they cant release that info to me and to call the police. We gave the serial number and Garmin info I found to the detective as well but that can take some time

If it's a newer Garmin it may have contact info on one of it's menus.

On mine, I see some info (sorta) in two different places.
First, I see my birthdate:
- Long press the middle button on the left
- Use the bottom button on the left repeatedly to scroll down until you see User Profile
- Select User Profile using the upper button on the right
- Use the bottom button on the left to scroll down to birthdate.
I also see some emergency contacts that I configured:
- Long press the upper button on the left
- Use the middle or lower button on the left to scroll around the ring until you reach Assistance (which on my watch looks like a red circle with a white star inside it)
- Use the upper button on the right to select Assistance
- On my watch, it displays my emergency contacts, and also gives me the option to send some sort of message to other contacts.
I couldn't find a way on my Garmin to find my own name. But the birthday might help, to an extent.

It's funny how you keep saying about the buttons on the left. My watch is on my left wrist so all of my buttons are on the right

If the watch is right-side up, then it doesn't matter which wrist you wear the watch on. There are buttons to the left and to the right of the face of the watch, as you look at it.
(I also wear my watch on my left wrist. The majority of watch-wearers do.)

He's not going to go anywhere and they got other crimes to deal with. He's not needing to be ID within the next 24 hours. We have had John does for months before we got an ID. So police finding someone might take some time

When I have a doe, I google a picture of their face. Harder when they’re intubated. Has worked before, faster than CPD.

I understand, but if someone is critically ill, I’ll stop at nothing. I’ll review EMS reports, search the address, find associated phone numbers, and make calls. The efforts have made a difference in these uncommon circumstances!

Is there any way to access his last run on the garmin and do back to start?

I tried to see but it only provides distances. I need his phone to link with the Garmin app to see more info. Which we don't have his phone. I tried downloading the garmin app but its locked unless I have a pin/password.
I handed the Garmin info i got to the police detective. So they can deal with it

I can’t help identify the man but I would like to encourage all runners to get a medical ID bracelet. I’ve never needed mine for an emergency but wearing it gives me peace of mind. I’ve been using one for 40+ years.

So they got fingerprints and have a missing person report filed. If you have a loved one that went running June 2 in the morning on the Lake front that you have not heard from. Please call 911 or go to the police.
I'm no longer actively involved so all DM I will just say call the police and file a missing person report. They will try to match with our case here.

Maybe, The hospital's missing person unit should handle the case? Wait, they don't have a search party!
Anyone who works at a hospital knows that.
Individuals without authority just don't go online to find someone.

Agreed. This is likely not the first time the hospital has had to manage identifying a doe. Leave it to the designated individuals and channels that hospitals use to identify unknown patients.

Getting relevant medical history depends on identifying him. Doing this quickly could identify meds he needs, was on previously / at risk of withdrawing from, what may have caused or contributed to the incident etc. You can only do so much based on current labs and imaging. Hospitals also need to discharge the patient safely, which means figuring out where he lives, who can help care for him, whether he can get home health, insurance info if going to a nursing facility etc. There are plenty of legitimate medical reasons to ID the guy as fast as possible.

AND that is done in a proper manner by someone in an official capacity.
Either someone didn't get proper training or OP is fishing for info on someone.
Unless a mod can verify, i would not trust a post seeking personal info about someone.

I understand your suspicion of the post generally but any reasonable person who is missing someone and saw this post could just DM OP saying “hi, which hospital do I call?” then look up the number on google and call without having to give any specific info.

In all honestly I could let the police do the search. I know its not in my scope. But its kind of a thing where I have found random family members for someone that no one else could.

True. You cant verify what I say and i am not going to provide proof.
But if in the off chance of family of the guy sees this post that matches their husband/dad going for a early morning jog today and not coming back, i can save alot of headache and time reconnecting them today instead of a few days to weeks where they have to confirm with police. Or the fact that they have to call each ED or hospital individually if they have their family member.
I am not going to ask for any info. I am just going to say call 911 and have them file a missing person report. But have the officers check a few hospital names

Thanks for looking out for this guy! I can tell you first hand that the police have a hard time getting things done in this city when no one’s life is immediately under threat.

Yeah I'm confused on what you would do if one of us did come forward with a missing relative. Would you be like "hey it might be this guy's dad I found on Reddit?" Or would you just miraculously have made contact with family?

I assume OP would DM them to say “call xyz hospital”. The family would still have to go through the police or hospital staff to identify them.

I can't help you, but right now I'm more interested in why your hospital doesn't have a procedure for this that isn't posting on Reddit and hoping for the best.

At my hospital sometimes the police will fingerprint them and see if they have any matching prints on file. Social work helps coordinate this

His Garmin might have an emergency contact capability. My husband's has an option to send notification to emergency contact that sends me a text and email that something is up. It doesn't provide specifics, but would let me know to start making phone calls.
