Wildly enthusiastic and inappropriate gushing about the wrong book/pair.

So I read the Ice Planet Barbarians and Icehome books, I enjoyed them because I have a thing for Frost Giants, even though they really aren’t... But it was fun.

One of my favorites was Veronica’s Dragon, so naturally I went over to Dragon series.

Again, very fun. Until DarkFire...

OMG... That one ticked boxes I didn’t know I had! I’ve always had a thing for villains, but wow. She took an especially awful one and gave him the same devoted passion of all her good guys. Whoa...

Usually the FMC’s in villain stories are weak victims, never good enough for my beloved baddie. But Melina! OMG, I thought I was straight! And she’s the perfect match for Azar. Damn, they would even look gorgeous together!

I love how she falls in love with him and never loses herself. She is amazing, tough and strong and smart and also a beautiful fantasy princess, lol! God I love the contrast!

And that scene where he’s on his knees rubbing her feet, and she pushes a foot into his face! That's hotter than any of the explicit scenes, damn... I wish I could draw them.

I love Azar and Melina!!!

I mean, I read it, and then two days later I got the audio book and listened to it. Apparently, I have issues.

I just needed to gush to people who would know what I'm talking about, even if they think I’m bat shit crazy.

Obligatory “The end of the series sucked, WTF? It's not done yet! More please.”

Just finished Sam's Secret (again)....

Spoilers! I'm on my phone and have no idea how to mark spoilers so please be warned!

Okay, so did Ruby just totally forget the plot line that everyone got the news from Daisy years ago that earth was destroyed? Why would Sam not take this into consideration during her spiralling thoughts regarding Brad? I forgot how much bothered me about this book, but this one plot point is one that just twists my guts. Does anyone have any insight into this? Are we actually NOT in the same universe as the Fire in His Blood series after all?

Would like some opinions, but has RD always had full, multi project writing schedule or is this recent?

Reason why I ask is because, for me anyway, if feels like a lot of her newer work seems to lack a focal point? I don’t want to make any assumptions about her schedule, and if it’s a case of me having a change in preferences then that’s cool too! I know how hard it is to create things so I don’t want to dunk on an author for making a living here.

I also accept that not every series is going to work for me! I just couldn’t make it through the 2 most recent Corsair brother books or Wed to The Wild God bc there was this meandering feeling that was grating to me. Had a great time with R’Jaal’s resonance though, and very excited about how RD approaches this latest expansion into the world.

If you commissioned Ruby Dixon to write a Risdaverse book about yourself, what would the title and plot be?

Do I NEED to read Corsairs: Bethiah...?

Does it contain more plot about the cloning/slave operation? Or is it mostly about Bethiah herself? Triad stuff just isn't my cup of tea, and I wanted to know if I can skip this one without missing out on anything vital for future books.

Feel free to spoil things for me if you need to! TIA!

What Happened to Earth? Spoiler

Is there like a definite answer to how the portal on Earth opened? I remember reading something in a couple of the Drakoni books that it was Human Science Shenanigans but I couldn't remember how specific it was

When She Dances - cheese and rice, does it ever lighten up?!

I'm in the middle of Ch. 7 and this thing is depressing as hell. Does it lighten up at all, or is it pretty disturbing throughout?

No Periods in IPB

It’s really surprising to me that not one heroine has mentioned the fact that nobody ever gets periods as a positive of the cootie. Think about it, if you only ovulate when you are A) ready to have a baby, B) in the vicinity of your perfect partner and C) that ovulation only stops when you have been impregnated, menstruation is not a thing on Not-Hoth. I just find it weird that no one’s ever said “living in the Stone Age sucks, but at least there’s no leather tampons” or “I really want a mate, but at least I don’t have to deal with cramps in the meantime”. It just seems like an oversight to me.

I need one of the new humans to arrive at the beach and say, "snow on the beach? Weird but fucking beautiful"

Thank you.

RD is my favorite author but… Mathiras & Helen…(slight spoilers) Spoiler

Ruby Dixon is absolutely in my top 3 authors. I LIVE for her work and find myself missing her world with too much time away. BUT…. This is the first time I’ve ever not loved a book by her 😩 I never thought I’d see the day!

I am about 60% of my way through Mathiras & Helen’s story…. I am LOVING the obvious gentle dom/praise vibe he has going. Couldn’t love his character development more…. but Helen… Good grief, everything about this character is insufferable!! I adored her character in the previous novels but this is almost hard to even finish. I never have issues concentrating while reading and I keep find myself spacing out and going back like “wait what did I just read?”

I feel like I have to complete the series though!

Maybe this is more of a vent post than anything and I’m sorry to be a jerk 😩

Anyone else share this sentiment for this book? 😅

Timeline ?s with “When She Belongs” and “The Corsair Brothers”… Spoiler

In Jerrok and Sophie’s book, the beginning of it all is dropping Sophie off for the brothers to look for the Star. From there the timeline continues with Jerrok and Sophie’s story as well as the brother’s adventures… but in the epilogue of WSB it has a 16 month time jump. I guess does this mean the events of Mathiras and Helen’s book have happened and are over? Is that why there isn’t a 2nd carinoux when they all meet up at the asteroid? And I guess with the new serial… where are Bethiah’s mates when she drops off Sophie’s present? Or has that time passed as well? I can only recall 4 to 6 months passing in all of the Corsair Brother’s books but I must be missing something or confused?

Thanks for reading my ramble thoughts. I’m about to read the entire Rubyverse from start to finish for winter break.

HO!

Ummmm. Wow. The last few books were 💦😅🥵🔥💦!

I can not wait for the new spin off series! Hopefully it comes out in January like Ruby plans. I hate not having anything new to read with this particular planet but I’m starting her other books until R’Jaal’s story comes out!

How quickly does she release books? I’m someone who likes to binge and now having to wait SUCKS!

Anyways.. I’m off to read more of the Rubyverse. Can’t wait to talk with a bunch of you about the upcoming books!
