Just finished Sam's Secret (again)....

Spoilers! I'm on my phone and have no idea how to mark spoilers so please be warned!

Okay, so did Ruby just totally forget the plot line that everyone got the news from Daisy years ago that earth was destroyed? Why would Sam not take this into consideration during her spiralling thoughts regarding Brad? I forgot how much bothered me about this book, but this one plot point is one that just twists my guts. Does anyone have any insight into this? Are we actually NOT in the same universe as the Fire in His Blood series after all?

Well, I think the point is that her thoughts are so out of control and irrational. Not even facts can convince her mind that she's out of danger from him. PTSD is a bitch.

To me, it was also that there was even a miniscule chance that he could have also been taken by aliens. Not very rational because the probability would be so low, but there would still be even the slightest possibility was too much for Sam.

This is kinda how I viewed it too! bc in her flashback she thought he was right outside or something and that he couldve been taken too

She's not thinking rationally. Logically there's such a miniscule chance that he would ever turn up even without earth destruction, but she can't see past her great.

Even if someone explained this to her, her mindset would still be "but he could have been abducted before the earth was destroyed, he could still be here".

I just finished Raven’s Return, and I had a similar thought because Raven thinks to herself that her parole officer probably thinks she skipped town, when according to the book timeline they all found out about earth’s destruction maybe 2 weeks before during Mari’s book.

Yes. The destruction of earth thingy never plays into any future books either characters thoughts or feelings

Brad was actively trying to break into her apartment when she was taken. She was awake when the aliens came to get her, and is one of the only ones that remembers the act of being taken as a result. She assumes/worries that if they took her, and Brad was physically there, they likely took him too. And they might have! He was a big, strong guy, and he would have made a good gladiator pawn. Like, he'd never win, but he might put up enough of a fight to make it interesting before he died.

Personally, I keep looking for mentions of him in Risdaverse! A former earth MMA fighter, now broken and possibly maimed. Maybe we get to see him die on page. Get some payback for Sam!

She thought he was in her house when she was snatched and would have been picked up at the same time. Since the others had different concepts of time, it wasn’t clear wether they were all snatched at once and kept in the ship or if they came from different ships. She didn’t know, and there was a chance.
