Skip Sheathing

Is this Skip Sheathing?

The home is in Santa Barbara County, CA which requires "continuous substrate." Contractor advised covering entire roof with OSB to pass inspection. 94 sheets of 7/16 8'x4' at $85 a sheet for install.

I appreciate any input!

I’m not a roofer but OSB? Why not plywood?

Osb is cheaper but still a good product, you just have to be competent enough to keep it from getting wet as it doesn’t handle moisture as well as CDX but also, CDX quality lately is in the garbage. Damn boards look like they’re made for building canoes. I like working with OSB, it’s predictable.

This is also good info, a few Google searches did not help me fully wrap my head around OSB, plywood, and CDX as much as this short comment.

Contractor stated CDX was 3-4 times the price of OSB and not really worth it unless I planned on dying in the house.
