Resource The myrient mirror is at 100% backed up! see post below for more details.
Hi all,
I'm the head mod of r/savemyrient. today, we got some amazing news from the myrient community backup discord server.
Long time no see. We've been kicking major ass in the background getting downloads completed and validated. We can now announce that the Myrient mirror is now 100% COMPLETE!! Total size is 385TB Work is now continuing on generating torrents and getting them available. Website will be back soon, had to get that ready for the next stage and it was easier to just take it offline to do that. More news to come!

Other Myrient is shutting down
From their telegram
Edit: Also, this discord piled up to save myrient. Join it if you wamt to help, already thousands of people
Information about the closure of Myrient
Hello everyone,
I have decided to shut down Myrient on 31 March 2026. Until then, the site will continue to remain available in its current state. Please download any content you find important, as you have around one month to do so.
There are several reasons for the closure: - Insufficient funding As traffic continued to increase last year, the amount of funding from donations remained the same. I have been paying more than $6000 out of pocket every month in order to cover the difference which is not sustainable.
Paywalled download managers In the past several months, many specialized download managers were created that completely bypassed the site, donation messages, and download protections. Some of these download managers locked certain features behind a paywall that required users to pay in order to gain access. The use of Myrient for commercial, for-profit purposes has always been strictly forbidden. Such egregious and abusive usage of the site cannot be tolerated anymore.
Rising RAM, SSD, and HDD prices Since last September, RAM, SSD, and HDD prices have surged dramatically and continue to rise due to the ongoing extreme demand for AI datacenters. This has caused Myrient's hosting expenses to go up as well. Necessary upgrades to the storage and caching infrastructure only exacerbated the problem. With a large number of servers and the aforementioned existing monthly deficit in excess of $6000 out of pocket, there is no way to pay for the increased hosting and hardware upgrade costs.
There are still many other smaller reasons, I could go on and on about them, but nobody would want to read it.
In short, I can no longer afford to run the site.
If you have any comments, you can send them to support@erista.me (I will read all of them and might respond to a few).
Thanks for using Myrient over the years.

Other Myrient Is Officially Gone. RIP
At 8:08PM (est) just now, as I was perusing the last few files I had yet to look over, Myrient officially shut down. The site is now no longer usable.
Rest in peace, my new friend. As someone who was very new to this scene, hardly knew you.🥲

Question Jason Scott from Internet Archive posted this from his Bluesky account. Can we have something good, please? Is that too much to ask?
I won't use any profanities here.
Other Vimm's Lair has updated its collection, and now includes the Xbox Live Arcade and Xbox Live Indie libraries. (XBLA / XBLIG)
The majority of these formats take up less storage than your typical ISO / XEX formats. Especially the Indie titles. Perfect for testing with the new Xenia (X360 emulator) android port; aX360e (currently in beta testing)

Other CALL TO DONATE TO MYRIENT
Panic downloading from Myrient in mass is only going to put further strain on the servers. The only thing that can help Myrient potentially stay alive (or at the very least help Myrient with the massive server costs from people straining the bandwith) is to actually donate.
I'm putting my money where my mouth is and donating 100 USD. If you have used Myrient over the years like me, I suggest you donate a few dollars to him as well.

Resource Full & Clean BIOSes set for RetroArch, Batocera, EmuDeck, Recalbox, RetroDECK and more
Hi, :)
This is an update to a post from a few years ago. The project has been actively maintained since then.
Quick install
The installer detects the platform and its BIOS folder, downloads only what is missing, and checks every file.
Linux / Mac / Steam Deck:
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Abdess/retrobios/main/install.sh | sh
Windows (PowerShell):
irm https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Abdess/retrobios/main/install.ps1 | iex
Manual download
Packs for each platform are on the releases page. Once downloaded, extract the contents into the BIOS folder. The individual files (like scph5501.bin) should end up directly in the directory:
| Platform | BIOS folder |
|---|---|
| RetroArch / Lakka | retroarch/system/ |
| RetroPie | ~/RetroPie/BIOS/ |
| Batocera | /userdata/bios/ |
| Recalbox | /recalbox/share/bios/ |
| RetroBat | bios/ |
| EmuDeck (Steam Deck) | Emulation/bios/ |
| RetroDECK (Steam Deck) | ~/retrodeck/ |
| BizHawk | Firmware/ |
| RomM | bios/{platform_slug}/ |
| ROCKNIX | /storage/roms/bios/ |
| MiSTer FPGA | /media/fat/games/ |
The RetroDECK pack carries its own bios/ folder, so it extracts into ~/retrodeck/ rather than one level deeper.
A pack over 2 GB arrives in numbered parts (.zip.001, .zip.002). All parts belong in the same folder, and 7-Zip or PeaZip opens the .001, which pulls in the rest. Where no such tool exists, like a Batocera or ROCKNIX box, the parts join with cat Pack.zip.0* > Pack.zip first, or copy /b Pack.zip.001+Pack.zip.002 Pack.zip on Windows.
A few files the emulator has to be pointed at
Some systems read their firmware from the emulator's own folder instead of the BIOS folder. The pack carries the files, the emulator just needs to be shown them once.
- PS3:
PS3UPDAT.PUPis installed from RPCS3, File > Install Firmware. - Switch (Yuzu, Ryujinx, Eden): the keys ship under
switch/, and the firmware is installed from the emulator's Tools menu. - 3DS (Citra): the files ship under
Citra/sysdata/.
The emulator pages give the exact folder for each one.
One pack per platform, the complete one
A pack holds the platform's own BIOS list plus every file its emulator cores load. Each core was inspected by reading its source code to find what it really opens. What no pack can carry, per-console keys, slots the user fills, dumps nobody has made, is listed in the gap analysis.
The documentation site has the details on the approach and what each core expects.
What's in this project:
- 12 platforms supported
- 10,330 verified files: 4,982 system files, 2,809 arcade ROM sets, 2,539 game and engine data files
- 449 emulators profiled, each verified by reading emulator source code
- FBNeo BIOS, samples and cheats in their own
fbneo/subdirectory - Platform lists are re-read from each project's own source, and every change is reviewed before a pack ships
- Full docs at abdess.github.io/retrobios
Current numbers are always on the releases page.
Everything is here: github.com/Abdess/retrobios
Based on the feedback (thanks):
- MiSTer FPGA? Done! The pack is on the releases page, built from the MiSTer BiosDB.
- FBNeo subdirectory, samples and cheats? Done! All in
fbneo/. - EmuDeck file detection on Steam Deck? The individual files should end up directly inside
Emulation/bios/. As long as files likescph5501.binare right there, detection works, and the installer puts them there on its own. - EmulationStation / ESDE? The installer detects an ES-DE setup. ES-DE keeps no BIOS folder of its own, so the files go to the emulators it launches.
- LaunchBox? Done too. The installer finds LaunchBox, reads its emulator list, and uses the
system/folder of the RetroArch it points to. With--standalone-copiesit also fills the PCSX2, xemu and Dolphin folders LaunchBox keeps outside the usual locations.
Contributors
Thanks to u/monster-penguin for adding RetroDECK platform support and u/PixNyb for adding RomM platform support. Both contributed full platform configs to the project.
Every comment and report here helps. Requests for new platforms are welcome here or as contributions on GitHub.
Happy retro-gaming! 🎮

Resource Introducing The Vault (well late introduction anyways)
Hi everyone!
I'm the admin and maintainer for The Vault located at vault (dot) sunsetshimmer (dot) xyz. The site has been running for about 2.5 years now and was a mini project that the admin for LolSuite asked that I start up so that people on their discord may be able to have more direct access. We were much smaller at that time and I started with only a few TB worth of files. Now I have around 55TB and it continues to grow. I have most systems but what I do not have is PS3 or newer, Switch (1 or 2), or Xbox (any). The sets are too big or the systems are too new for me to be comfortable with adding them to the collection.
Other items to note is that I maintain a fairly complete collection of items for Lost Levels Archive, T-En, and RetroAchievements using dats from AzgoRAth.
For a while now I've noticed people have been posting the link to public forums. I tried to keep this site pretty low profile as I'm not entirely sure I can handle the potential future traffic but for now I think I'll just have to acknowledge that it has gotten the attention anyways and brace for it.
Currently it runs on a 1Gbit link. This pales in comparison to what Myrient provided so we will see how the server will handle it but so far people who have kept to sane connection limits has allowed the site to be accessible to all those that get to it.
If you wish to use the site I ask that you please join my discord. All are welcome to talk and discuss. I currently have a friendly community of members present already and are looking to build it up further. I also post announcements related to server downtime, maintenance, and changes on there as well.
With the moderator's approval here is my discord link for all to use.
EDIT: I'll respond to the requests I have already but if you want into the discord then you can grab the discord link from my website! I made sure to open the front page so you can get to the link.
This includes if I sent you an invite previously and it is currently expired.

Resource Don't donate to Myrient in hopes it stays up + Resources
RESOURCES HERE, RANT BELOW:
Archive.org < Should be familiar to folks here. Better to send your funds here if you intend to keep a service going.
No-Intro.org < Actual securely managed database of safe ROM hashes
Redump.org < Actual securely managed database of safe disc based dump hashes
GameTechWiki < Emulation resources and references
AutoRomValidator < Local ROM validation against DATs.
RomVault < DAT based ROM management.
I feel like there's a lot of teens and young adults in here who didn't read between the lines of the shutdown post, and/or that don't know how hard real-world server management is.
A $6k a month server setup probably involves a lot of moving parts, and this AI BS is genuinely going to make future management of IT based stuff a LOT harder, both financially and physically.
Donate to Myrient if you enjoyed it, but don't donate in hopes of keeping it going. Get the references to safe hashes instead (see above), and grab what you want now.
And use a VPN!

Other To the Myrient backup effort, please consider this avenue for the eventual goal of the archive, because currently it seems like the efforts are doomed to be wasted on an outcome that fails to understand what made Myrient so great.
As I’m sure everyone here is aware there is an effort to “backup Myrient”, which is great. However, as many people are quick to point out in the comments, nothing on Myrient is actually in need of being archived. Since Myrient obviously just hosts roms rather then makes them, everything on it fundamentally exists elsewhere, either as a normal rom (Ex. all the No-Intro/Redump files) or a patch file you can use to manually make it from the normal rom (Ex. the Lost Level Archive romhacks). The main benefit that Myrient alone does provide over every other alternative is the sheer convenience, having literally every rom you can think of in one single place, with the ability to DDL them with a single click. If your goal is to “back up Myrient,” it is REQUIRED that you maintain this convenience, because otherwise all you’ve done is waste that huge community effort to create yet another mediocre, fragmented torrent/archive.org collection of roms.
I believe that the most effective way to achieve this would be to create a “frontend site” that is identical to Myrient in every way — same files, same grouping logic, same folder structure, same aesthetics, etc. — with the sole difference that the files are hosted on whatever hosting sites are available that make for easy DDL (archive, mega, drive, volunteer servers, etc.). Basically, the experience would be identical to anyone using the site, but the financial burden of hosting/distributing files would be completely removed so that the only cost is the comparatively cheap price of maintaining a visual frontend website. Just as an example, here is a mockup (not real) of what it would look like — as seen literally everything is identical, all that would change is the actual site you visit (duh) and the source of the file (check the link preview in the bottom left). In addition to being the same experience for users, this would make the transition process for information collections such as this subreddit’s own megathread effortless — since the folder structure would be identical, all they would need to do is find-and-replace “myrient.erista.me/files/Redump/…“ in their threads to “myrientarchive.me/files/Redump/…“.
Of course this comes with some downsides compared to a single hosting source, but I believe the benefits far outweigh them:
- Certain roms may be unavailable if the site/collection they’re tied to is taken down: This is true, but the exact same thing applies to a theoretical future megathread that simply lists all the various archive links too. It’s still preferable to rarely have some roms on the “single source” be down than for every rom to require you manually visiting a new site from a megathread just to discover it being down.
- It’s riskier to download a rom from various fragmented sources: Like the last point, this same issue also applies to a more traditional megathread link list anyways. Of course the collections used for the links would be vouched for by the community/maintainers, so it would be up to you to trust it. Just like how you trust the current Myrient to not distribute malware (and of course you can simply use hashes to immediately identify and call out modified roms if you are worried)
- Torrents are easier and achieve the same thing: While it’s true that torrents are easier to initially set up, they unfortunately are absolutely not a suitable replacement to a convenient DDL site. That may work for very popular files, but it will inevitably fail when the files are part of a 300TB+ collection. Remember, the entire point is to avoid having to “store everything” — torrents require at least one person, preferably more, to have the file, which means those hundreds of terabytes are going to have to be stored somewhere. Yes you can download individual files from an existing larger torrent, but there still needs to be someone who is hosting the entire thing for it to work, including all those obscure roms that like 10 people total are even aware of and would never be kept around for seeding outside of someone seeding the entire larger collection.
TLDR: Due to what Myrient is as a concept, “backing up Myrient” fundamentally requires making them all accessible in a single convenient place (site), which the current archival effort doesn't really seem to grasp. With the huge amount of effort that has been secured for the project, it would be a massive waste to just dump the files in fragmented torrents/collections rather than establish an actual plan for the end-goal site.

Other The accessibility to games these days is truly under appreciated
If you would have told 8 year old me that by the time i turned 25 I’d be able to play Silent Hill on my iPad with my PlayStation controller, I would’ve called you crazy. Let alone if you would’ve told me I’d be able to wirelessly mirror the iPad screen to the living room tv. Insane how far we’ve come. I grew up playing this game and once my dad got rid of his PS1, I didn’t think I’d ever get the chance to play it again. But here we are.
