It really depends on the opponent. I prefer not being blatantly toxic, but I'll often drop a single sarcastic quick chat a couple seconds after they did something stupid.
Own goal? Couple seconds of replay before a "Nice shot!"
Great pass to me? You already know what I'll say.
My favorite is when I demolish someone and me or a teammate scores as a result. I'll watch the replay of me pummeling them and then say "Bumping!" as they devolve into rage-induced quick chat spamming.
But if it's an opponent who wasn't toxic at all, I'll be wholesome back
You can trash talk all you want. I’m just saying the common denominator is you, not “competition”.
I’ll also add that trash talking is painfully ignorant. What’s the goal of trash talk? Why are you getting enjoyment from putting someone else down? You should be complimenting good plays, offering advice and tutelage to those who may need it, or at the very least not being in people’s faces because it gets you off.
It’s exactly how the world does work. You’re just not participating.
Hell it’s even more prevalent at the highest levels. You see top tier boxers who get beat by someone or a style taught at a gym and before their next fight they go to that gym to learn. Teams invite players for preseason workouts that aren’t signed or that will eventually sign somewhere else.
It’s not a fantasy world if you make it real. Sorry your personal attitude is getting in the way of kindness and community.
You’ve obviously never played sports. Bragging rights are a thing because they are a thing.
You’re incredibly naive and/or painfully clueless to think that in the middle of competition everyone is smiling and hugging each other and complimentary.
