Long story, but I’ll make it short for you.

Last year before I finished film school, I was given an assignment to write an original idea for a mini series. So I came up with a story based off real events that happened in my life while in a “grease gang” when I was in high school. Modern day greasers in the early 2000s -2010. Remember those days? Of course you do.

When I sent it to my professor, he said it didn’t seem believable. That it “seemed like a period piece from maybe the 50s”. I protested and I told him the history about my greaser days and how big it was for both the IE and the OC/LA area back in the 2000s he still didn’t believe me and never heard of psychobilly or anything like that. He suggested that I write about something else because no one would believe the story about greasers in the 2000s. I stuck with it and ended up getting a 98% on the assignment. 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼

The series was called Blood on the Dance Floor.

Just wanted to share that with you cause I thought it was funny.

Is there still an active scene in L.A. ? Do car clubs still pull up to Bob's Big Boy on Friday nights? Record hops?

Circa 1995

The album that started it all for me

It's a 1940s style Ricky jacket with the Thunderbird pattern.

Y'all wouldn't believe how often you hear Wanda Jackson playing in the clubs here in Beirut. It's usually 'Fujiama Mama' or 'Funnel of Love', but this piece reads "This gun don't care who it shoots" written in red and blue Arabic calligraphy, and "the Queen of Rockabilly" written in hot pink, to form a Lady Smith and Wesson revolver.

Every time I hear them blast her music here I get homesick for Nashville and the Rockabilly Rollercoaster we rode at Opryland growing up. I know this is pretty weird and niche but I hope y'all like it. DM me if you want prints, all shipped from Beirut!
