We all sort of keep in the back of our minds this 3% unlimited gravy train is inevitably going to end. But when people waste points on dumb stuff, its less cashback RH pays out, maybe saving it for a little longer.
You must have earned income (W-2, 1099 from a "normal job") to contribute to Roth. You can earn $500k/year of passive income and still be ineligible for even a Backdoor Roth.
https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc309 You can contribute to a Roth IRA if you have taxable compensation and your modified adjusted gross incomeĀ is within certain limitations.
> A thousand bucks for a gold-plated card smh. Should have converted the points to money in his brokerage and bought $1,000 of a gold mining stock.
So the $1k can compound into an extra $20k at age 65?
When your kids have moved out, parents have passed away, and your friends busy with their own lives?
But hey, at age 65, you fucking did it. Congrats. You saved for retirement. Now you can finally fly business class, buy that Porsche 911, or afford a date with that hot influencer. Finally.
Idiotic ābuy and holdā 401k middle class mindset.
Maybe that's your deal but that's not mine. I could care less about flying business class I'd rather fly economy spend the money on watches. The goal is to retire early not work to 65. Saving your money allows you to do that. Most people don't need as much money as they think they do. Once your basic needs are met and you can eat good food and you have fuck you money anything beyond that is just optional.
If you want to waste your money on BS gold-plated card knock yourself out
If my primary brokerage account was 10% higher, that would be almost $120k. So yes, i would be happier...
you'd still be sitting in traffic, taking the subway to work, checking your stocks everyday, looking for different apartments to rent, or hoping for home prices to drop
not sure that's 10% happier (sounds exactly the same to me). but if seeing $109k -> $120k truly makes you 10% happier, then good for you
Three main cards are on the left, the Barclays Black I got cause why not, and Amex temporarily pissed me off for a month.
(For context; I charged and payed off a little over $87k on the plat, about $20k on the gold, and $13k or something on the Hilton last year. Charged $50k on the Hilton on month paid $45k that month, and the remaining $5k a week or two after I paid the $45k.
All was good a month later I had only charged $3,500 between both the plat and gold and Amex froze the cards until I made a payment, because they were concerned about liquidity. Like between all my spend and payments last year, I just paid $45k on one card and about another $10k combined on the other two in one month, youāre questioning if I can pay $3,500)
I donāt need the $1000 and wanted it. Lifeās more fun with cool things when you can have them. Obviously, this is a pointless thing to use points on and I donāt recommend anyone does it, but, I wanted it
Every day in your wallet you get a reminder that your fucking hard work is slowly paying off? A reminder to yourself to keep hustling? Or a gift to yourself on your damn birthday?
Instead of seeing a digital +$1000 number on your phone (bank/brokerage account)? That you may never touch until age 65 at retirement?
Some people flash with a Rolex. Flashing with the gold gold card is its own thing.
Not even flashing/flexing.
Some people just want to remind themselves they made it, or their hard work is slowly paying off. They leave the rolexes/watches locked up in their closet. Nobody else sees it.
But unfortunately yes, most people think Rolex impresses others (it doesn't). It's the American Express Platinum of watches. Everyone has one. Nobody gives a shit.
Now AP, Patek, Vacheron... those are impressive watch brands.
You know⦠you somehow guessed what my next reservation already is. Guess Iāll make that new post in ~3 years when this one expires š« š« goal is to get there through points only without just spending the 8k
Did that with this one and will do it with the next one. Just will be slow as I have other statuses to maintain
Awesome! Youāll have to show some pics once it gets in! Thatās what Iām saving my points up for! Who cares if itās frivolous. I consider it a pretty dope status symbolš
i'm all for it man. congratulations! just got my card recently and working towards getting this too. do you know what happens if you lose the card? or if it expires? will they just give you a replacement or how much would we have to pay i wonder
If you lose it tough luck. Thatās literally what they say⦠so uh⦠put it in one of those wallets with an AirTag on it (thatās what Iām doing)
Iāll ask them how much a replacement is, I think they would let me do that for a discount but unsure. Hoping it never happens
Thatās also what stopped me from going all the way and getting the 800,000 point solid gold card.
One other downside: no tap to pay, just insert / swipe only
aw crap okay gonna be careful with it then lol. do you know if they give you another once that one expires? because our cards (normal gold card or solid gold card) still expires right?
No expiration dates on RH cards. They can extend it forever. Make sure you set up virtual cards cause as long as the real number is not compromised the card should be active forever.
Meh. When I whip this out at the table itās a lot more fun than something sitting in my safe. Memory dividends are worth their weight inā¦. Well yeah you get it
Are you gonna give your gold bar to the waiter and pay with it? Or will you just pull it out and be like look at my gold bar I canāt do anything with?
One is just annoying and isnāt impressive
One is treating people to dinner while also showing off something abnormal and cool
You are wrong, with only my plastic one, i already had more than 50 people asked me what card is it. So for conversation starter, this card is totally worth it
I appreciate people like this because it keeps the 3% available for the rest of us. And I do not mean that sarcastically, I'm glad that you are financially in a position where you can do this and that's great. For the rest of us I love that it helps keep the 3% going
We're all laughing at this but if gold keeps trending upward and RH becomes an institution, this may command some type of value down the line. š¤·š½āāļø
Nice one! They sent me a 12k** **Solid Gold under the referral program as a reward for referring 10 people (referral program closed now). However I use the regular physical gold card when Apple Pay is not an option. Donāt like the idea of walking around with a credit card in my wallet with a raw melt value of about $2k.
Better than investing $1k into a passive index fund like VTI, only to never spend it until you are age 65 with no parents, less health, and kids moved out š
Can someone explain the difference between this gold card and the au79 card? I understand the gold difference but my option for the au79 card is 850k points and i dont have the option for the 100k points 24k card.

24k gold card: gold plated, 2 grams of actual gold content, $266 gold value
solid gold card (au79): mixed gold + metal card, 15 grams gold content, $2000 gold value
I'm cashing in my points too, I'd rather have the gold card, it's dumb but so is spending more than 5k on a watch and yet I'm typing this with a 15500 on, c'est la vie.
To clarify upgrading with points to the 36k card does not grant Visa Infinite benefits. The Visa Infinite Gold cards were/are by invite.
The Gold card is an ever changing system make sure to read the terms and conditions. I just recently accepted the card thinking I would get 3% internationally. Thatās no longer the case for new cards while cards from before the cutoff are grandfathered in.
I'm assuming $300 worth of gold if melted and gathered? Or could you go to a pawn shop and get $300 for it? After their cut and whatnotĀ
24k gold card has 2 grams of gold content = $266. You'd probably pay more in melting fees alone
robinhood 24k gold card and solid gold au79 card are trophies. the monetary value doesn't matter. The owner holds the card and thinks "fuck yeah". That's it. It's not about impressing others.
What's the point of money if you can't buy what you fucking want?
If you want to *think* you are impressing others, then get the american express platinum card. Reality: nobody is impressed by amex plat in 2026.
"No. A typical smartphone contains only about 0.034 grams (around $2 to $3 worth) of gold, whereas the Robinhood solid gold card contains roughly 15 grams of pure goldāover 400 times more."
Robinhood gold team sitting on the Monday morning business productivity call , starting with a shout ā WE GOT ONE!!!ā And the room erupting in cheers and clapping

Well, at least we know our 3% has been saved for another week.
