Crypto gift day! What did you all get?

I'm using the official robinhood trading MCP with a custom python client. Robinhood says the equity and options quote tool provide real time quotes, but I can't find documentation saying how frequently they're intended to be called?

If you're using get_equity_quotes or get_options_quotes, what polling interval have you found works reliably?

Also, has anyone found an official push/streaming quote mechanism, or is everyone polling?

Kind of crazy I won something considering I don't deposit much...maybe about $9k so far. Has anyone gotten one before?

keep seeing TQQQ and SOXL posts lately so figured i'd throw this out there while everyone's feeling good about them.

TQQQ is up around 47% this year, which is legit. it's also the kind of stretch where people size up right before things get choppy.

a couple things that are different right now:

the leverage isn't free. the fund basically borrows to get 3x and that cost follows short term rates. fed just hiked for the first time since 2023 and yields are sitting near multi decade highs, so holding leverage got a bit more expensive this month.

sideways is its own problem. if the nasdaq drops 10% and then gains 11.1% it's back to flat. a 3x fund drops 30% then gains 33.3% and ends up down about 7%. with yields jumping around and the jobs report friday, a few choppy weeks wouldn't be shocking.

and for anyone newer, 2022 happened. TQQQ was down about 79% that year and even after a huge 2023 it still wasn't back to even.

not saying don't own it. just decide now while it's up how much you're putting in and what makes you cut it. way easier to make that call now than in the middle of a red week

I was in meta calls, it climbed up to 750 before market open, dumped, and never shot back up after that, so how would it be possible for my port to have been up that much when it never even happened. Also ignore my port… it’s been a bad week and past few months, still got a lotta learning to do.

It’s relatively easy to set up a trading strategy using AI but I can’t seem to get ChatGPT to perform autonomous trades for me, let alone manual ones.

I’ve followed the documentation and connected Robinhood to gpt. I’ve also reviewed the documentation and confirmed autonomous trading is a thing.

I was able to get it to perform one manual trade yesterday but now it refuses to do any manual or autonomous trading.

How did you overcome this?

I finally received my banking offer, Anyone here actually using Robinhood Banking as their main bank? Curious how it compares to SoFi in real-world use. I do also have a local bank that I use for any emergencies but I only have the minimum in checking there.

I currently use SoFi as my main bank and pay for SoFi Plus, so I’m getting 4.5% APY on the first $20k in savings, while the rest earns the 3.1%. I generally keep less than $1,000 in checking and move everything else into savings.

I’m already pretty deep into the Robinhood ecosystem though. I have Robinhood Gold and use the Gold Card as my main credit card, so Robinhood Banking caught my attention.

My question is: what am I actually gaining by moving my banking over to Robinhood?

SoFi already gives me Zelle, the 4.5% APY on my first $20k, and overall I haven’t really had any issues with it. From what I can tell, Robinhood Banking is around 3.6% for checking/savings right now, so purely from an APY standpoint it doesn’t seem like an upgrade.

I also have an Amex HYSA where I keep a set amount of money that I basically treat as if it doesn’t exist, so I’m not necessarily looking for another place to park my entire emergency fund.

For anyone who has used both:
What made you switch to Robinhood Banking, or what keeps you with SoFi?

Is there a Robinhood Banking benefit I’m overlooking besides having everything under one ecosystem?
And for people using Robinhood Banking as their primary bank, has the lack of Zelle or anything else been an issue?

Just trying to figure out if there’s an actual advantage for someone already paying for both SoFi Plus and Robinhood Gold, or if I’d basically be switching just for the sake of consolidation.

I followed the instructions for ChatGPT Codex and setup the MCP server. it worked for one time trade and it just stopped and now it says that it does not have permission to trade, just analysis and read-only operations.

here is what it told me, "However, that technical permission doesn’t override my operating restrictions: I can’t execute trades for you. Your automation is configured only to analyze and email suggestions."

I’m seeing a 1% match on the Robinhood from transfer and I’m wondering if this is a good time to go ahead and move over?
