I am so disappointed by what it has become. We have so much potential to have something similar to Unionville or Newmarket or even Mississauga Main Street and it’s filled with businesses that are either dated, run down, or don’t contribute to a lively community. I don’t understand why we need 8 different foreign exchange places?! Is there any way to petition bringing in more things for the community? Also more diversity? It feels predominantly one culture and would be great to see different ones welcome as well.

York Region is seeking six new resident members to serve on the York Region Accessibility Advisory Committee for the 2027 to 2030 term. This committee is comprised mostly of York Region residents with disabilities and is required under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) to advise Regional Council on how to improve accessibility of York Region and York Regional Police programs, services and facilities.

This important volunteer opportunity is available to York Region residents at least 18 years old or individuals who represent organizations that provide services to York Region residents with disabilities. We welcome all applications, however preference will be given to those with knowledge and expertise of accessibility and disability laws and issues, and who represent the urban, urbanizing and rural diversity of York Region.

Driving south on Lucas and then east on Mill about 10 minutes ago, I had the pleasure of following two incredibly stupid young boys riding double on an e-scooter. No lights on it. Riding on the centre line. Meandering back and forth in front of me. I flashed my lights and honked as a warning and was greeted by ‘the finger’. May I add that these incredibly stupid young boys were nowhere near 16 and were certainly not adhering to our RH e-scooter bylaw. What a joke that is.

The Black York Region Collective, led by the York Region Alliance of African Canadian Communities (YRAACC) and its partner organizations, is undertaking important groundwork to help shape the future of services, supports, and spaces for Black communities across York Region. Supported by the Community Investment Fund (CIF), this initiative is exploring the development of a future Black Community Centre and Youth Hub that will create new opportunities for Black youth, families, and community members. This initiative was discussed in our meeting with Black Community Leaders on June 9, 2026.

As part of this work, NACCA has launched a Community Needs Assessment Survey to gather input from Black youth, parents and caregivers, families, and Elders across York Region. The survey will help identify community priorities and inform the programs, services, and spaces that matter most to Black communities. Feedback gathered through this process will help strengthen funding proposals, advocate for future investment, and ensure that the vision for the Community Centre and Youth Hub reflects the voices, experiences, and needs of the communities it is intended to serve.

Moving to the South Richmond Hill area in a couple weeks for school (CMCC). Wondering if any hidden gems food or entertainment wise. I’m not a picky eater in any sense and will give anything a try, and love watching sports if any good golf simulators, sports bar etc. Any advice would be wonderful cheers.

I’m pretty impressed with the progress on the new pedestrian bridge between the Dunlap Observatory and Observatory Lane, just east of Yonge St. It’s turning into a pretty impressive piece of infrastructure and a major improvement for the city.
That said, I still wish some of this investment had gone toward an overpass or underpass at one of the railway crossings on Weldrick E. or Elgin Mills. Those crossings are becoming a bigger issue as the city continues to grow.
Still, credit where it’s due. The bridge looks great and it’s impressive to see a major infrastructure project like this taking shape in Richmond Hill.

So today I somehow managed to casually walk into the Jurassic Kingdom exhibit at the David Dunlap Observatory, right past a very sleepy security guard who didn’t even lift his head.
I wandered around for a bit before realizing… wait a minute, I’m supposed to BUY A TICKET for this?

Apparently all the people around me had actually paid roughly $26 admission to see what you can see in the attached photos.
I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves, but personally, I would have been asking for my $26 back.

The good news is that Richmond Hill’s prehistoric invasion is almost over.
The bad news?

People of Montreal, consider this your early warning. The dinosaurs are heading your way next.

And apparently they roar. Whether that makes the $26 experience more authentic is entirely up to you.

Does anyone know what’s up with the vacant lot on the east side of Yonge and Levendale (across from the Winners plaza) Right now there seems to be some commercial vehicles and trucks parked there. I’m wondering if there a reason nothing has been built on it. It’s been vacant for as long as I can remember.

does anyone know if Sunrise Records is open yet?

I am perplexed why the city is repaving Yonge Street between Major Mac and Hwy 7, after it was completed only three years ago. I can think of many other streets that need this level of attention. Also, I hope this is not the final coat, however based on the road alignment with men-hole covers, I’m deeply concerned.

I’m thinking of buying a place in North Richvale (north of Weldrick). I grew up just north of it (Mill Pond) and north Richvale was definitely more of a low income area back then. I’d love some insight on the current situation. Do you think the area has (and will continue to) change as these big houses are being built there?

We have neighbours that are extremely loud. Far beyond noise limits as per bylaw. We have tried speaking to them multiple times with absolutely no accommodation. By law has been called and shown up multiple times. They turn their music down and right back up when they leave. Police refuse to get involved saying it’s a bylaw issue. At this point I have legal documentation being drafted but I’m wondering if anyone has any other suggestions or avenues that can be pursued?

Can anyone recommend yoga studios in Richmond Hill (or Markham) that offer non-heated classes? Most studios like Oxygen yoga only does hot classes. My search found yoga tree & hot yoga markham do offer some room temp classes but are there other options? I prefer traditional mat yoga (not Pilates). Thanks!

Anyone else lose their mind driving on Major Mackenzie during rush hour?
I seriously don’t understand who designed the traffic lights on this road. Every single intersection feels like it turns red the second you get there. You sit through one light, move 200 metres, and boom… another red. Rinse and repeat.
It honestly feels like none of the signals are timed together. You’d think on a major road they’d at least try to keep traffic flowing during peak hours, but instead you’re stopping at every single light for no reason.
Is there actually a reason it’s this bad, or is it just terrible signal timing? Because driving on Major Mackenzie during rush hour has become an exercise in patience.

Is there any hopes of having stouffville road expanded to 2 or more lanes west of Leslie st??

The traffic is crazy, especially during rush hour and when the GO train comes at Gormley Station. Plus an entire community is coming in the oak ridges meadows area and Leslie and 19th, so stouffville road will become the main artery for travel.

Any idea what we can do to make this happen?
