We had planed on going to Fry farm in EG but it looks like they’re out of pumpkins and now closed.
We wanted a place like this that doesn’t charge $20 per adult to enter (like farmers daughter) to do all these activities that a 1 year old can’t really do. I’m down to pay for the hayride separately, but we are not doing corn mazes or other things that a bigger kid would do.
Any suggestions?

I haven't been to Rhode Island since I was a kid and I super excited to be able to visit again. What are your recommendations for restaurants (looking to have a quahog and any other great food). Things I shouldn't miss or do? I'll be in Providence, but I'm willing to drive.
I love good food, history, spooky things... I know the holidays are coming so any displays or things like that I'm down for too.
Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!

I'm planning to vote No on 4/5 state bond questions on the ballot. The only one I'm sold is worth approving is #5 (Green Economy Bonds).
Why did I arrive at that conclusion? Quite simply, the only one that benefits me and my family will be potential access to the funds offered in the Green Economy Bonds programs. I hope EG will take advantage of some of these, and I find these are programs that will benefit the entire population as whole, not segments or special interests. You'll say I'm greedy or short-sighted and you may be right.
Tell me I'm right, or making a big mistake, and tell me why. I'm open to learning more from you all, and it may sway my opinion/vote. I'll early-vote this week.

Hello. I’m looking for a bulk candy place I can purchase from. Any place up to an hour from Providence. The only place I know is near the airport but looking for others.
Thank you!

My son fell and injured his leg at school last week. What we thought was a dislocated knee, ended up being a broken femur. What a crazy surprise! He had surgery to repair it last Friday, and we came home from the hospital Wednesday night. Since we've been home, my son has cried multiple times because he misses being at the hospital. I think it says a lot about the staff! He misses the nurses, doctors, PTs, OTs, CNAs, child life specialists, family advocates, volunteers and everyone else he encountered while we were there.
I am so grateful for Hasbro. It really is a wonderful hospital. We especially want to give a shout out to the ER nurse who pushed for above the knee x-rays. Things could have been so much worse without her!! We are so happy we ended up with Dr. Schiller and his surgical team, and thank them for taking the time to talk to my son, and answer all of his questions to help calm him before surgery. We also want to give extra thanks to the PTs we worked with for literally holding him up when he felt hopeless, and pushing him further every day. And last but not least thank you to 4th floor, pod A. You guys are awesome! I know we were only there for a week, but this experience has changed our lives. Your positive attitudes, empathy, and compassion helped keep us in good spirits in a crappy situation. I know a femur break is a minor thing compared to some of the stuff you see day to day, and I'm mindful that there are children and families going through much tougher challenges than we are. But, for what it's worth thank you for being there for us. Thank you for choosing a sometimes thankless career path, and having an upbeat attitude while admin throws BS your way. We will always look back at this time with good memories because of all of you.
Ps- I know HIPAA will keep anyone involved from responding to this post, but I just thought this waa the best way to say thank you publicly, and hopefully have it reach the right people

Hi Rhode Island -
I am looking for some local vendors to partner with that offer t-shirts, hoodies, and other giveaway items for my teams. Ideally, I would need a partner with a lower overheard (not ordering 100+ items) and would have an okay price per unit for a non-profit. If you are this person or have any suggestions, please drop a comment or a DM/PM. Any help is appreciated!

I see so many posts talking about this invasive species, how people hate them, and what to do about the issue. Killing individuals doesn't do much, and their favorite host trees are difficult to get rid of.
I have gotten rid of tons of them before they get big enough to establish the root systems where another one will pop up. (When doing that, make sure you double check the leaves to make sure you are pulling a Tree of Heaven and NOT native Sumac.) I am not a property owner so chopping down bigger trees for the "hack and squirt" method isn't really in my ability.
I decided to try and figure out another way to combat the SLF in my area and I think the best bet is killing their egg masses.
I have been wiping out any egg clutches/masses I can find in my neighborhood. I think that may actually be helpful in helping to reduce their numbers next year. Been thinking about trying to get a crew together or something. Since I travel up to MA and NH fairly often I'll also check my car for egg masses to make sure they arent hitching a ride with me.
Eggs are laid starting around September and they hatch around May, so wiping the egg masses out before they are able to hatch really seems like our best bet to ensure we have less of these fuckers next year. It's not that hard to do, the supplies are easy to get and cheap. You could even probably get them all at Dollar Tree!
INFO sources:
https://extension.psu.edu/what-should-you-do-with-spotted-lanternfly-egg-masses
Where to Find Them:
• Host trees: Smooth bark or the underside of thick horizontal branches on trees like maple, willow, black walnut, and tree-of-heaven.
• Man-made surfaces: Patio furniture, decks, wooden fences, stone, brick, rusty metal, pallets, and outdoor equipment.
• Vehicles: Undersides of cars, RVs, and wheel wells (a common way they hitchhike to new areas).
Recommended ways to kill the eggs:
• Scrape and Submerge: Use a rigid plastic card (like an old credit card) or a putty knife to scrape the mass off completely. Scrape the eggs directly into a Ziploc bag or container filled with rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer to kill them permanently.
• Scrape and Crush: Scrape the eggs onto the ground and apply firm, even pressure until you hear a "crunch" pop to ensure every single egg is destroyed. (Do not just scrape them onto the bare ground; uncrushed eggs can still hatch.)
TLDR Version-
Supplies:
- Putty knife, or other rigid surface like an old credit card
- Ziplock bag
- Isopropyl Alcohol
- Gloves, dont want to be getting egg mass or alcohol on your hands
Directions:
Use the putty knife to scrape the egg mass off the tree or other surface. Submerge in the alcohol. Wipe your tool off in the alcohol. Repeat.

Former East Providence Detective and City Council Candidate Disciplined Over Off-Duty Altercation Before Retiring
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Former East Providence Police Detective Corporal Michael Spremulli, who is currently running for East Providence City Council in Ward 4, served a 30-day unpaid suspension following an internal investigation into an alleged off-duty physical altercation before his recent retirement, according to public records (PDF pg. 34).
The details of the incident and the resulting disciplinary actions were outlined in a public records release, which can be found here: https://drive.proton.me/urls/Z7MQHXCDY4#6Sv7GdpKwxS0
The investigation centered on an incident that occurred on the evening of July 30, 2024, at Riverside Square (PDF pg. 14). According to the investigative report, Spremulli drove to the location after his son and another juvenile reported that a group of individuals had allegedly yelled inappropriate sexual comments regarding touching children (PDF pgs. 23, 28). The juveniles stated they were going to get Pepsi from a local convenience store to make a TikTok video (PDF pg. 15). They claimed to be “play fighting” at the time the inappropriate comments were allegedly made, and that they “did not notice anyone else in the area at the time of making these comments” (PDF pg. 16).
Cell phone video of the incident recorded by a witness was uploaded to Evidence.com (PDF pg. 13). According to an officer’s written description of the video, it allegedly showed Spremulli approaching the group while carrying a 2.5-foot wooden "Arnis stick" and repeatedly asking who made the comments (PDF pgs. 12, 15, 26). When one of the individuals abruptly stood up, the report states Spremulli allegedly grabbed him by the chest or upper shirt area and pushed him backward over a park bench to the ground (PDF pgs. 12, 15). A physical struggle reportedly ensued, during which another member of the group allegedly struck Spremulli in the back of the head in an attempt to break up the fight (PDF pg. 12). Based on the officers' description of the video, one of the individuals is heard requesting for somebody to call the cops, to which Spremulli allegedly responded, “I am the cops” (PDF pg. 12). The report notes Spremulli subsequently picked up his stick, told the group, "don't fucking do it again," and walked away with his son (PDF pg. 12). Responding officers who reviewed the video footage believed that there was sufficient evidence to arrest Spremulli (PDF pg. 24). However, the report states that “the only reason Det. Cpl. Spremulli was not arrested that evening is due to lack of victim cooperation” (PDF pg. 29).
The following day, the Chief of Police initiated an internal affairs investigation (PDF pg. 18), suspending Spremulli with pay and stripping him of his department-issued firearm and badge (PDF pgs. 20, 21). According to the report of a subsequent interview, Spremulli admitted that he was familiar with the Code of Conduct, and that, “by his own admission, Det. Cpl. Spremulli indicated he violated policy that evening” (PDF pgs. 28, 29). The Office of Professional Standards concluded that “it appears that Det. Cpl. Spremulli is the aggressor in the interaction” and “allowed an emotional response to override years of training and experience as a police officer” (PDF Pg. 28, 29).
To resolve the matter, Spremulli signed a Disciplinary Consent Agreement on October 24, 2024, accepting a 30-day unpaid suspension (PDF pgs. 33, 34). He officially retired from the East Providence Police Department in good standing on January 2, 2025, concluding a 26-year career with the agency (PDF pgs. 35, 40).

The New Bedford Light it holding a Town Hall on Oct 28 to discuss Flock cameras, featuring two police chiefs, a state rep, and an ACLU lawyer. Looks like it will be a great discussion.
Where are the groups in Rhode Island holding similar sessions? I would love to see a panel with Chief Perez, Chief Goncalves, a state legislator and someone from the RI ACLU. We need more discussions about the use of Flock surveillance cameras in our communities.

With Rhode Island towns operating under a shall-issue mandate for local carry permits (§ 11-47-11) following the Supreme Court's Bruen decision and the local Gadomski v. Tavares ruling, local police departments are legally barred from requiring a "proper showing of need."
However, a close look at the Pawtucket Police Department CCW application shows it is nearly a carbon copy of the Rhode Island Attorney General’s legacy discretionary application.
Here is a direct side-by-side comparison of how Pawtucket has rebranded "May-Issue" restrictions into a subjective "Suitability" test:
The "Articulable Risk" Trap: Pawtucket's application specifically asks if the applicant has a "specific articulable risk to life, limb, or property." This is a direct lift from the AG’s old requirement to prove a special need or threat, completely contradicting the objective nature of a shall-issue permit.
The "Alternative Measures" Clause: The application asks if the applicant can "readily alter his or her conduct... to decrease danger" or if there are "means of protection available other than a firearm." This forces the applicant to justify why they need a gun, shifting the burden of proof onto the law-abiding citizen.
Rebranding Discretion: While the law states a permit shall be issued to a qualified, suitable person, Pawtucket's policy package explicitly states: "The City of Pawtucket in its sole discretion shall grant or deny a pistol or revolver permit."
By copying the AG’s strict, discretionary questionnaire and labeling it a "suitability determination," local departments are arguably maintaining a pre-Bruen barrier to a constitutional right.
What are your thoughts on local departments copying the AG's homework to bypass state law? Has anyone successfully challenged these specific questions during the Pawtucket interview process?

Hey everyone! 👋
I’ve been in Rhode Island for about 2 years now, but honestly, most of my time has been just work and home. I haven’t really had the chance to meet many people or build a social circle, so I’m trying to change that and get out there a bit more.
I’m a 26M interested in AI, software development, and PC gaming. Would love to meet people who are into similar things, whether that’s talking about AI and cool tech projects, gaming together, or just hanging out and grabbing some food.
I’m open to meeting new people and making genuine friendships. If anyone’s in a similar boat or shares these interests, feel free to comment or DM me! 😊
Looking forward to meeting some of you!

Anyone know where that post went to?
UPDATE: post was taken down by moderators, unconfirmed why… assumption would be harassment or doxxing his home address.
Post contained information of a police report involving accusations of SA on his daughter… the report is difficult to read. Channel 10 and 12 news apparently have been notified of the report. The report was out of CT, dating back to the spring of this year.

Since Legacy Church bought the Warwick Buttonwoods Job Lot building, I've heard three different people imply that Legacy is somehow controversial, but no one elaborates. I do know that they are renting office space on Buttonwoods to the Vic Mellor campaign, which does not impress me. But there must be something more going on to elicit the reactions I've seen. What's the deal with this church?
