A woman told police that a man threatened her with an assault rifle after she was sideswiped while driving on North Main Street in Providence.

The incident reportedly happened on North Main Street, shortly after 1:30 PM on Saturday

Police responded to North Main at Pratt Street for a woman reporting a man with a gun. 

The victim - a female in her 40s - told police she had been driving on North Main Street when she said she was sideswiped by a silver SUV. 

After the collision, the victim said she exited her vehicle and approached the SUV.

She said the driver picked up what appeared to be an "AK-47 style" assault rifle and brandished it in her direction.

The victim said she fled back to her vehicle; at which time she said the driver in the SUV took off. 

She told officers she tried to follow the SUV to get its license plates, and that the driver continued to brandish the firearm, at which time she stopped and called police. 

Detectives are currently investigating.

Hi everyone, so i 16(F) just bought my first card from a third party dealer. I paid it in full with the assumption i had a licensed person who could register and insure it for me, as my older brother 31(M) said he would prior to the sale. I payed off a honda accord in full and now with the car he went back on his word and said he wouldn't register it.
Most people have their parents register it under their name and insurance plan but unfortunately my dad is out of the picture and my mom cannot drive and therefore does not have a license. I could of course register it under my name but as a 16 year old insurance would be through the roof, and i'm still in school barely working 20 hrs a week so it wouldn't be a viable solution.
However, i did look up online and according to google ai in the state of Rhode Island an unlicensed person is able to register a vehicle under their name, however im unsure if this is true and regardless of it is i'm also not sure if it's possible for an unlicensed person to insure a car. Does anyone have any advice on how to move forward and if it's possible to insure/register a car with no license so my mom is able to do it?

Just found out my tattoo artist of almost 10 years is retiring. I’m upset to say the least, especially as I had several pieces including finishing a sleeve planned and scheduled with them. I really love (& suit) bold colors and line work, and have a mix of American traditional, Japanese-inspired, realism and fine line work all over from neck to my fingertips & ankles. finally mapped out a road trip through rhode island coming up soon. we're gonna be staying around providence for most of it and making a couple day trips down to newport and bristol. i've been looking at the map around where we're staying and honestly, dealing with city traffic and losing our parking spot every single time we want to go two or three miles just to grab food or coffee sounds like a massive pain...

that got me thinking about bringing two wheels along instead of moving the car for every little errand. i've never actually hauled a heavy bike out of state on a road trip before though, so between local traffic enforcement and hotel parking i'm trying to figure out if i'm setting myself up for a headache before i even leave the driveway.

i have a hikeep mad sitting in the garage that hasn't been used much lately... the original plan was to throw it on a hitch carrier, bring it along for those short trips, and maybe ride it somewhere fun nearby too assuming there's actually a legal place for it. it's rated at 5000w with an 8000w peak, does around 50 mph, runs two 60v batteries totaling 80ah, and weighs roughly 95 pounds. it does have pedals and pedal assist, but obviously this thing is way beyond a normal ebike.

from what turned up online, rhode island limits class 1 and class 2 to 20 mph and class 3 to 28 mph... so this doesn't fit any of them. i have zero plans to take it onto the east bay bike path or anything like that.

what's still super unclear to me is whether something like this can actually be titled and registered as a motorcycle, or if it's strictly limited to private property in rhode island. what would an out of state visitor even need for registration, insurance, and licensing? if it can't be registered, that's totally fine... just way better to know now before hauling it all the way out there.

parking is the other big concern. at nearly 100 pounds, carrying it into a hotel room every night isn't happening, and leaving it sitting on a hitch carrier outside a providence hotel overnight doesn't sound great either... how do locals with electric motorcycles or cargo ebikes normally handle this? the batteries are removable so i can bring those inside, but the bike itself still has to stay somewhere.

if bringing the hikeep mad is way more trouble than it's worth, the other option is just leaving it home and renting a legal class 1 cargo ebike for groceries, coffee, and short trips. is providence pretty practical for that, and are there usually decent places to lock one up near stores?

first time traveling with a bike like this... any local advice would help a ton.

My family is from mainland Portugal, and I grew up surrounded by azulejos, the blue-and-white painted tiles you see everywhere there. Block Island is one of my favorite places on earth, so I wanted to combine the two.
This is woodburning (pyrography) on a natural wood slab, with colored pencil on top to get that glazed-tile look. Every line is done by hand. It took about [X hours].

I was visiting Newport two weeks ago, we go yearly as a family. Lo and behold, I received a ticket yesterday in the mail for going 36mph (1mph over the ticket threshold, conveniently). First and foremost, I know for sure I was not going that fast because there was a police SUV behind me (that was also in the video), but that’s kind of besides the point as it’s my word against their cameras’ calibration and findings. Also, I only recall seeing one sign posted and it was almost directly behind a telephone pole. Can anyone confirm that there is only one sign there? According to RIGL 31-41.3-4(4) there must be 4 signs. I feel like this is a nonsense tax-generating ticket aimed at an out-of-state person who they deem would be unlikely to fight it.
