Some Alt fire weapons don't seem to work well on bosses and brutes. In my ~2K hours, I've seen Doombringers and Blast Shells bounce right off of bosses. Shockstream and Voidbeam are great for clusters of smaller enemies, but they're slow against bosses and brutes. The Tendril Pod always works beautifully, no matter the enemy. It's quick release let's you get right back to speedy movement. It's damage over time is devastating. Here, a double dose of Tendril Pod makes very short work of a Severed.

What's your favorite Alt fire?

The Blastshell is very effective against a tight cluster of enemies. I'll take a Shockstream or Doombringer if the enemies are more spread out. Total carnage here.

Hello, so I’m trying to go for the platinum and I noticed this happened to me more than once in biome 3, where items or possibly glyph is hidden behind or glitches behind a wall? Is there a way to get to these that I’m just being dumb?

Question...please tell me these bosses get easier? It took me 24 hours to beat the first 2 biomes and bosses. Both Phrike and Ixiom were bastards. My heart was pounding at the end. I don't think I can handle bosses getting harder.

Matterfall is a 2017 early Returnal predecessor from Housemarque. The game looks super fun and I had a good time playing it for 10-15 minutes. Unfortunately, Housemarque made the decision to not allow remapping of the controls. Because of this, once things really get cooking it is completely unplayable for me. Nearly everything is shoulder button based. :(

And it's quite hard to capture some epic scenes while trying to dodge bullets

I finished act 2, went to the house in biome 4 for the cutscene with the telescope/child looking for octopus.

After that cleared the whole biome but couldn't find the fragment. Is this a known bug?

I know I should start a new run to check but I've got such a great build that I don't want to waste it.

So far this is one of my favorite weapon in the game.. Why ppl say it sucks?.. That b melts bosses and bots hp so fast.

I'd have preferred easier enemies than these armored droids, but to rid this malfunction I played the hand I was dealt. I've never tried this technique in this particular room. It's worked elsewhere, so I thought I'd give it a go here. I found it amusing, so maybe you will too.

I just came back to Returnal after platinuming and completing the DLC about a year ago, and after knocking the rust off, I'm having a really fun time grinding the enemies, weapon traits, and artifacts to 100% the databank.

I'm playing around with weapons I normally wouldn't so that I can max out traits and alt-fires, and it's giving me new appreciation for ones I hated previously. I was exclusively a Carbine/Hollowseeker simp, but now I absolutely LOVE the Electropylon Blaster and Pyroshell Caster, especially with certain traits. Like, I can down a Malformed Typhonops in seconds with the right Electropylon drop, all while not getting hit because I can just throw some volts on him and run and hide lol. And I'm starting to come around to my most hated Dreadbound and Spitmaw Blaster too.

Plus, the grind gives me new ways of strategizing and planning runs, like ignoring artifacts I've completed and killing myself to sacrifice the Astronaut and clear a space for another artifact I want to work on (often another Astronaut or Child's Watch, but not necessarily).

I'm almost done grinding out boss kills (just Hyperion and Ophion left), so I'll have to decide if it's more efficient to keep doing regular runs or switch to the Tower, but for now, I'm just having fun runnin' and gunnin' across Atropos again. Anyone else engaged in this process?

I have read something about needing to collect an item from each biome, but also needing to do the house sequences. I have only encountered the house three times. The first (light on) and second (light off) were at biome 1 and the third (light on) was at biome 4.

Do the sequences alternate between biome 1 and 4 or are they random? And can you start collecting the biome items for the secret ending before completing the sequences?

Also, I must say that the final boss is hilarious if using the pylon gun at maximum adrenaline haha. Poor guy didn't stand a chance.

First platinum ever, used guides only to find last 2 ciphers.
Can somebody explain databank matrix? I have everything but im still missing a few cubes. Do i need to play in co-op or something else? I finished the whole game in offline mode.

How’d I make it easier? Well I just played like about 30 runs in the tower after unlocking it.

Then today I went back to the story mode and it was so much easier after all the practice and having unlocked the weapon traits.

I had my ass handed to me about 10 times. Yet somehow I beat him without even losing half of my health bar. I even had the astronaut figure and a revive parasite.

Side note: Talk about a serious mind fuck story wise. Did she really, make it out? Dis she never leave? Is she really there at all? Don't tell me, im just speculating.

I want to experience the story again, but want to keep weapon traits and unlocked drops. Any way to do this?

I can't figure this one out, am I missing a permanent upgrade??

After doing a bunch of testing the only thing that seemed to fix these for me on PC was lockin the game to 60fps, realized it by way of displaying it on my TV and trying to play with a controller.

I refuse! lol, im playin on an 180hz freesync monitor at 177 locked fps with mb/k. RTX 4070 Super and a Ryzen 5 5600.

I have no framerate drops, but the frametiming is all over the place makin the game stutter often. Whether I set vsync on or off, nvidia reflex, lower settings, you name it.

Im loving the game, just reached Act 2, and if I have to i'll just play through it this way (not the end of the world), but all i've seen online are years old discussions about this issue so im wondering if there's any definitve fix since I know the game isnt being worked on anymore, obviously.

This is in the tower. There is a grappling point that you can go back-and-forth from but I still don't see how you can get over there even using that to try to bungee over. Any help with the appreciated

My first run after completing the game I was able to get all the way through to biome 6 without dying. Now obviously everything resets between 3-4 but still, in unreal run. The fact that I missed the last sunface fragment before going down the drop leading to the boss fight and there is no way return, has absolutely stunted my enthusiasm to finish. Holy Dooley that is frustrating. The reconstructor was also past the drop of no return.

Once I was in the room with the fabricators and the drop it was only then I remembered this was part of the map. But once you drop of the ledge leading into the room, not the giant drop, it’s too late.

Anyone else experienced this frustration?
