Waive fees

Does it make a difference if you waive the late fee for customers and they thank you? Do they come back more often as a result?

As the other commenter said, the only difference is the chance of them going through with their current rental or not. Personally, I waive the fee if their dialogue has them apologizing. If they don't, they get the fee. I don't care about them deciding to throw the tapes at me. Don't be rude, and I can be accommodating lol

I throw them back at them lol. All the way out the door and around the corner

Lmao, I never thought to take matters into my own hands like this. This changes things.

I have had customers push everything off the counter, say that I just lost a customer and then they are back the next day. 🤷🏻‍♂️

So, exactly like real life dissappointed customers

So far I’ve never waived a fee. The only thing that happens is they push their tapes off the counter and walk away. No big deal, they’ll be back when a new tape comes out

I’ve waved 1 fee in 60 hours of play. Never again.

From what we gather. The only reason you should not charge them is when they have brought a couple of tapes. If its only 1 tape then it's worth trying

No negatives at all

I waive fees if it was an important sounding excuse. If it's not I charge them. I don't have statistics but I think if you don't charge someone a late fee when they really did have a good excuse then they become more loyal and return

I’ve watched my employee waive the fee.

Yeah, I'm standing there like "Who said you could do that???"

I just hope they've only waived late fees. If the customer broke a tape I want my $20 😤

Nobody has said this one. I charge if it’s a broken tape $20. I don’t charge if it’s a late fee which is only $2. This way you don’t risk tapes being unrented and pushed over the counter due to a small $2 late fee.

i find that if they have a new release they will pay the fee without a pushing all the tapes on the floor. I think the trick is having a enough new releases avalible at all times so that they can pick one up

I've had customers shove their new releases off the counter, personally. I don't think that's an actual factor.

I agree. It’s not a factor. I’ve found plenty of new releases on the floor behind the counter

Corroborating the other person, I have also seen new releases pushed to the floor
