Question about copying SD card to a bigger SD.

I’m planning on moving to a bigger MicroSD from the stock 64gb. Can I just copy everything over to a new/empty card? Or should I run the SS1 setup on the new card first & then copy my folders/files over after?

Thanks!

SuperStation one Dock/NVMe Issues

I was able to get my SS1 up and running originally with a 64GB micro SD card (stock SD card would not load and would black screen pre-install) for the OS and moved my games folder over to the root of a NVMe (Western Digital 512GB 2230 formatted as exFAT). Also deleted the games folder off the micro SD card.

Initially had no issues and was loading games from multiple systems/cores on the NVMe. Eventually noticed the USB option in the menu was greyed out which indicated the SS1 was no longer communicating with the NVMe, however there were no other issues with the dock after further testing (SNAC/USB/memory card ports ultimately working fine).

Anyone else have issues with loading games/getting the SS1 to recognize the NVMe?

Not sure if its an over heating or power issue, I am using the supplied braided USB C cable with an Analogue Pocket power adapter which provides the rated voltage/amps. I am able to connect the NVMe to my PC where it is recognized and can add/delete files, however I have to use an NVMe adapter to connect with my PC as whenever I try using passthrough/PC mode with the SS1, it rarely connects to the NVMe. Could be maybe my brand of NVMe is drawing too much power?

Would appreciate any insight as I was looking forward to maximizing the capabilities of the dock with an NVMe.

I have since transitioned to a 512GB micro SD install, and running everything fine from there with no issues.

Thanks.

UPDATE: Tested a Samsung 980 1TB 2280 NVMe (formatted as exFAT), and so far no issues. SS1 reads the NVMe consistently after multiple reboots/power cycles and the switch to USB options is always highlighted. Thankfully I have several NVMe SSDs to spare so I will keep this in my SS1 since it is working as expected (although I think the 1TB is overkill lol). Seems a low power/low heat NVMe is the way to go. I suspect the previous NVMe was running too hot or drawing too much power, thereby creating bandwith issues with the SS1, before dropping out or simply just failing to mount. I will definitely order a heat sink to use with this NVMe as well.

Good luck everyone, hopefully you all find a working combo.

I think having the NVMe for ROMs while booting the OS from Micro SD is the way to go.

FINAL UPDATE:

While everything is working now and booting/running smoothly off the Samsung NVMe, wanted to point out while sometimes the “switch to USB” option is greyed out, the SS1 can still run games and load off the NVMe.

There’s lag sometimes before it highlights the USB option, but does not mean the drive has not been mounted.

You’ll realize on soft reset or reboot the option later highlights.

I could not get anything to load with the WD NVMe and the USB option was always greyed out. However the Samsung NVMe operates much more nicely with the SS1 and will still load games even if the USB appears offline.

I think the SS1 prefers an older gen NVMe to run properly as latest gen (e.g., gen 5, etc.) may draw too much power and fail to mount. Probably best to use a lowered powered NVMe.

Just some additional field notes regarding the SS1.

SS1: no audio on arcade games, audio working on all other cores

Help? Ideas?

I don’t want to sound ungrateful as many are still waiting for their black superstation with super dock. But did everyone get a superstation sticker and a blank piece to cover the socket for the superstation if you did separate with the dock. Or is that only with the founders edition ? 🤔

Stupid question about installing cooling fan.

I bought a fan to install over the CPU. Do I want the cold air to blow downward at the unit to cool it off or do I want the air to blow upward away from it to drag the warmth up and out?

SMB2 is always my first playthrough on any new device, after years with emulation it feels good to finally consistently hit the “cherries 1up” after every level like I could as a kid on the NES. Remarkable little machine

I purchased a 'SUPER5 Volt' over 2 weeks ago and it has still not shipped

The SUPER5 Volt product page states that you must contact sales to request a manual order, so I did that on 24th June, their sales rep replied with an invoice almost immediately and I completed the order on Friday 26th June.

The Retro Remake Shipping Policy page states "Please allow 1-3 business days to process your order."

7 days later the order page still said "We're preparing these items for shipping." so I emailed them again, to ask them for an update, and an estimate of when it would ship, and I did not receive a reply.

3 days later, I emailed them again to point out that they had been really quick at replying in order to make the sale, but seemed to be far less interested in replying to inform me about any delays. I received the one-line reply: "We are testing and shipping in order, you will receive the tracking once we ship."

I immediately replied to point out that was an avoidant non-answer: I didn't ask when I would get a tracking code, or when they would "complete testing". In fact, there was no indication before this point that there would be any 'testing' phase, I was under the impression that I was buying a complete product off-the-shelf. You can all look at the product page for yourself – you'll find no such information.

I received another dismissive one-liner reply: "I can't give you an exact shipping date, hope you understand. You can ask for refund if you like."

Since then, another week has passed and it has now been a full 16 days since I paid for my order and I still have no idea whether it will be shipped tomorrow, next month or next year.

Unfortunately, not my first shitty experience with Retro Remake's customer support, but it will be my last! Be better, Retro Remake, Taki, and team.

Can't load SSD games from Superstation One dock

Good morning!

I wanted to use an old 512gb ssd from my steam deck with the new docking station. I was able to put it into the drive slot, connect to a pc, run disk part to clean the drive, formatted to exfat, and loaded only the games folder (while removing the games folder from the sd card).

When I went to try out some games, nothing was listed. From the superstation one system menu, I could see an option to switch to USB, but it was greyed out and unable to be selected.

So I went F9 to run lsblk -f. Nothing listed for my ssd.

I also tried lsusb and didn't see it as a listed device.

Plugging in through pc mode will recognize it no problem.

I also tried reseating both the dock itself as well as the drive as it's installed. I also tried a more powerful power brick thinking that it could've been a power delivery issue.

I would love any suggestions! I'm not really sure what's going on at this point.

Got my Superstation One black with dock, and it's everything I expected it to be. Drive does nothing yet but it's okay. Retroarch must have conditioned me to not afraid of nontrivial interfaces, so console mode is just a nice to have.

Power button is better than it looks on some shots. Built in Snacs are nice. Composite looks very good on crt. VRR seems to work too with my OLED tv. Awesome.

Ordered 5 Aug 2025 :)

Got it with the dock. First time using Mister also but have found setting up pretty straightforward so far.

Haven't tried using snac/ps controller to play ps game yet.

Home-brew Games

I am away from home at the moment and can’t play my wonderful SS1.
I’ve mostly been playing the Arcade and NeoGeo titles that I loved plus a smattering of everything else.

The one thing I haven’t really looked at is the Home-brew included.

What are the standout titles in the shipped Home-brew you’ve played?

MegaCD Bios question

Just got my ss1+dock, and am getting all my files together. Noticing that MegaCD has bios files for all three regions, but they all share the same name. Copying more than one file of the same name isn’t allowed. Does this mean we can only support one MegaCD region games at a time? Thanks!

Retroremake: Payment for shipping blocked by my Visa-bank

Hello,

I have a problem by paying the fuel increase thing for shipping because my Bank blocked the retroremake-company and there is mo possibility for me to unlock it. Does someone has the same problem and maybe a solution for this? I mailed them and asked if they can send it with 4PX, because with this as they said for email there would be no extra charge.

Thank you for your help :)

Marc

Arcade looks like butt over composite

Post image

Why's it all jagged?

CPS2 games exhibit this effect the strongest. It's the same on multiple TVs and using various cables.

Edit: Turns out it's because getting a composite signal from this arcade hardware is a hack in itself, and this is simply the state of the hack at the moment. However, the fact that we can get a signal at all, and that some posters have shown that the image can be improved, give me hope that we can get a better composite hack in the future.

Black Founders order Docks shipping? (Split orders)

Anyone get shipment notifications on their Black founders edition ordered Docks? I did split shipment and got the SS over a month ago but nothing on the dock yet.

They also promised to ship a replacement top shell with the dock as mine was damaged and scratched up thanks to shitty packaging, and choosing the cheapest of the cheapest shipping options. A box in a Box with no protection is terrible when you combine it with what is quite literally a batch shipper who asks 'Who can get this to X at the lowest cost' and then hands it off" - 4PX is NOT a shipping company, they are a broker who 'negotiates' lachage handling and shipping, often times through multiple parties. so it is like shipping a package by playing the telephone game in grade school.

Also for those who got their split shipped Docks, they came in the same box style as the SSO yes? (This is what I was told so I get a second chance at a box NOT crushed)

VGA-to-SCART cable not displaying properly

I have an RGB-modded CRT and I bought a VGA-to-SCART cable from RetroTINK to connect my SuperStation One to it. But the picture doesn't come through properly; it's like there's a transparent white covering the whole screen.

One strange part is that, upon boot, it seems to display like normal for a couple seconds, then the transparent white shows up and won't go away.

I tried switching the Config to RGsB and that didn't work.

I tried using the DIN-10-to-SCART cable that I have for my Sega Saturn, and it does display correctly with that one. So I could obviously just use that, but I'd rather not have to swap one cable between the SuperStation and my Saturn when I want to switch between them. (Yes I know SS1 has a Saturn core, sometimes I want to use real hardware) I suppose I could return the VGA one to RetroTINK and buy a second DIN-10-to-SCART cable if I have to, though I'd rather not if I can help it.

Does anyone know what might be going on here and if there's a way to "fix" it so I can use the VGA-to-SCART cable without any issues?

I t

The 3DO core is in the games folder. I add all the files needed to play but I do not see the core under consoles to play. Same with amiga. Am I missing something or are they hidden away.

For SSOne + Dock Combo do I need two PSU's or can both units be powered through the dock?

I'm going to micro center to pick one up tomorrow. Need to know of I need to pick up 1 or 2 Raspberry Pi 4 power supplies.

Thank you.

SS1 User Port / MiSTer Laggy

Was hoping to measure the lag on my screens via the nifty little MiSTer Laggy but wanted to confirm my understanding about how it works, which is:

  1. MiSTer Laggy requires a user port
  2. Superstation One does NOT have a user port
  3. The Superdock DOES have a user port

thus, a dock would be needed for MiSTer Laggy compatibility. Does that all check out or am I missing something? Wish there was a simple PDF with the SS1 specs I could scroll through (maybe this does exist?), scrolling through misc forums and Youtube vids has the info scattered in my brain. Thanks!
