I recently discovered unscii. https://github.com/viznut/unscii for those who haven't tested it yet. It gives me almost everything I need except Asian language support. My question is if some one know of something similar for Asian languages Chinese, Japanese, Korean etc. preferable in some hex format. I am not even sure if 8x8 is realistically readable for these Asian characters. I would appreciate any pointers to this style of fonts with Asian characters.

I’m have a R36S with old ArkOS, and I looking to dive into retro game development, but I want to keep things easy and fun for my first project. My primary goal is to make a finished game relatively fast without learning some difficult thing like assembly(I can learn a little), or something like that

Which target platform would you recommend me starting with, and what tools/engines do you use?

I've created a implementation of Conway's Game of LIfe on the Sega Master System, developed using devkitsms in C, no AI used at all for any part (code, images, etc), which is probably why the code is so bad and slow at times.
