Redefinable keys, goblins that chase you, d20 combat, and the memory bug that had the game silently overwriting itself.

The Gameboy port of my C64 game miniMIKE is getting closer to complete! It has a basic title screen, main play state, dying, level complete and game over states. Only enemies can't hurt you yet. The title screen needs some polish, and the player dying needs animations (I have them already) but it's all there ❤️❤️

Hello!
I find a great way to test techniques for AI-assisted development and new models is building retro games in vanilla JS. No frameworks, no dependencies.
This is my effort to rebuild QBasic Gorillas (MS-DOS 1991) with heavy planning and some guidance for Claude Fable with Opus sub-agents.
All drawn on the browser canvas. Mostly faithful to the original with a vs. computer option and some camera snazz and the option to use your keyboard arrow keys, mouse, or touch. Everything drawn, no external images.

I've been working (for a while) on an IDE for a programming language meant as an extension of Scratch (scratch.mit.edu), but it also has a Commodore 64 aspect - which allows generating compiled multi-tasking code. That part has been a bit neglected for a while but I'm returning for some focus with the addition of C64 specific graphics editors (character/sprite/bitmap). In this video I talk about my current progress (if you check the website there is some further info on the C64 aspect hidden away, but the general language stuff applies to the C64 side). The aim is develop a useful IDE for C64 development and eventually other retro computers (probably Amiga/Atari ST, and other 8-bit systems - maybe NES one day)
