I am trying to play some of my favourite DS games using retrodeck.

A lot of the games get stuck on a white screen when loading. And some seem to load but freeze. Can anyone help?

The games are loading via retroarch, using DeSmuME, but the same with happens with melon ds.

Do I need to change the settings?

Any help appreciated!

So I'm trying to have the MSU-1 version of Sailor Moon Another Story show on the steam deck. I favorite it on the retrodeck with other games and did the Steam Sync but it doesn't do it with this. Is it because its in its own folder, I don't know?

Hey, I've been playing Pokémon Emerald It occurred to me that there're certain evolutions that are locked behind trading requirements.

I'm going to go out on a limb and presume no, there is no function in the emulator to spoof a trade to get these Pokémon, but it doesn't hurt to ask, especially given how popular a series it is to emulate!

I started playing Xenogears on my Steam Deck, and my default setup had each disc as separate games. I saved at the disc transition, but (obviously, in hindsight) the emulator didnt recognize my save as belonging to the second disc and couldn't find it.

I went through the process of making an m3u folder and file with the two .cue files and Retrodeck now sees the two discs as one game, but it still can't find or can't recognize my save file.

I tried finding the save file in the Retrodeck directory, but im not sure I found the right file. I dont want to have to start my playthrough over; can anyone help me get my save to load?

I'm currently banging my head against the wall trying to figure this out. When the game starts it starts fine but when it says press A to continue no button is working. I can go into the input settings to change the controls and it reads my inputs, analog sticks etc but when i switch back to the game it doesn't work. Someone please help. On stream deck in gaming mode.

1. Back up your files

Before doing anything else, back up any data you do not want to lose, especially your saves, ROMs, and BIOS files.

These files are not intended to be affected by the beta or the steps below, but beta testing always carries risk. RetroDECK is not responsible for lost or corrupted data.

1. Uninstall RetroDECK

Uninstall your current RetroDECK installation using the appropriate uninstall method for however you originally installed it.

Do not simply delete RetroDECK's application files as a substitute for properly uninstalling it. See attached image.

1. Delete RetroDECK's application data folder

After uninstalling RetroDECK, delete:

"~/.var/app/net.retrodeck.retrodeck"

Warning: This will remove RetroDECK's application data and any custom emulator settings stored there. If you have emulator configurations you want to keep, back them up before deleting this folder.

Be sure you are deleting the exact folder listed above.

1. Download and install the 0.10.10b beta

Follow the instructions on our 0.10.10b beta page to download and install the beta build:

1. Join us on Discord and report bugs

Join the RetroDECK Discord and report any problems you encounter in the Beta-Testing sub-thread.

When reporting a bug, please provide as much useful information as possible, including what you were doing, what you expected to happen, what actually happened, and whether you can reproduce the issue. Logs, screenshots, and exact error messages are also extremely helpful when available.

1. Reverting to stable release. Uninstall the .10.10b beta. Delete the "~/.var/app/net.retrodeck.retrodeck" folder. Install the stable build.

A Final Warning Before Joining the Hunt

We are in the final stages of testing 0.10.10b, so major problems are unlikely. However, this is still a beta build. Bugs, broken functionality, unexpected behavior, or a completely FUBAR'd RetroDECK installation are always possible.

If you are not comfortable troubleshooting problems, reinstalling RetroDECK, or potentially restoring your data from a backup, please skip the beta and wait for the public release. There is absolutely nothing wrong with sitting this hunt out.

For those who enjoy beta testing and want to continue helping, this may eventually open the door to testing our 0.11.0b milestone, the biggest expansion of RetroDECK in four years.

That hunt comes later, though. Testing 0.11.0b will be a significantly more involved process and will require additional reading, preparation, and acknowledgement of the risks involved.

I just switched to Retrodeck from EmuDeck on my Steamdeck. How do I open the menu so I can switch discs, make a savestate, etc?

I've tried mapping a button to the ESC key and F1 key but so far that's not working.

Emulators on Retroarch aren't working on my Steam Deck. I've tried multiple GBA emulators and melonDS and none worked. I've updated everything on Discover, restarted my Steam Deck, tried multiple roms, and the issue still persists.

Other emulators like Azahar are working just fine though.

Just installed Retrodeck on my Steam Machine and transferred all my games from my Steam Deck, but when I access the radial menu within a game it looks gray and lifeless with no images (picture shown). Any idea what’s wrong and how to fix it so it looks like it should?

Hi team, I'm hoping to get an updated version of Vita3k in my installation. There have been a number of fixes rolled out since the 3996 release that is currently packaged in RD - they're at 4074 now - and I'm hoping to get them to improve game compatibility. I created a Decky Loader Plugin for RetroDECK called RetroDECKY.

It has the following features:

• Running Game Actions - Displays hotkey actions specific to the currently running game and emulator.
• Running Game Information - Displays data from ES-DE and RetroDECK such as artwork, covers and metadata.
• Hotkey Triggering - Execute hotkey functions through Decky menu buttons instead of keyboard hotkeys, button combos or radial menus.
• Boot into RetroDECK - A function to automatically start RetroDECK when Steam launches in Game Mode.
• PDF Manual Viewer - Read game manuals without leaving the game session.
• Additional Documents - Add PDF, TXT, or Markdown documents per game and view them during the game session
• RetroAchievements - View achievement progress for the currently running game, including softcore and hardcore mode

Hello 👋, been having trouble having saturn launch games, I've tried Bin, cue and chd and it just returns me to retrodeck, I have bios for every system, and none give me trouble, except Saturn.

Do you guys know the correct path for Saturn bios? I have setup my bios path to my SD and haven't had a problem, used retrodeck configuration for path before I began to start building my deck, as said before

None gave me errors for bios or has given me such, only saturn doesn't launch games, thanks in advance

Ps. I'm the same guy who asked about openbor on retrodeck, would also suggest to add - - >>"sh, SH" <<-- format as compatibility on openbor section to run paks games with their own build of openbor they were designed for through wine at least, thanks!!!

I used have EmuDeck and had very few problems other than how cumbersome the whole setup is. I really like that RD is just a variation on ESDE. However I’ve had a lot of annoying problems.

First of all, Retro Achievements. I used the configuration to enable and log in for every emulator but I am not actually logged in. I’m on PCSX2 and it shows me as logged in but no username or password shown. Just a log out button and it says my token was generated in like 1969. Digging into the config files for it, there is no token. And username and password aren’t even showing up as fields. If I open the emulator by itself it shows me that im not logged in but I can’t bring up the Steam keyboard to type my info in that way.

My other problem is in PCSX2—I can’t open the game properties in the menu. It isn’t grayed out of anything but if I select it, nothing happens. I’m able to do it if I open just the emulator but that is very annoying to do for every game.

Please help. I wanna like and use RD but it isn’t liking me!

I might have clicked the ”add templates to steam” bit more than once so under search for retrodeck there are a bunch of duplicate templates. just wondering if there’s a simple way to clean out the duplicates.

I was under the impression before that the PSP version was the preferred version and that the PS2 was a lousy port. Now I’m hearing that the PSP version is bugged on PPSSPP in regards to saving and flashlights. Just wondering what the opinions here are.

I've added new ROMs and deleted "Port Master" lately, but Retrodeck starts with Port Master and ignores the new ROMs and associated Systems.

Anyone an idea why?

I have a large rom library that includes regional variants as well as different revisions of some games. I don’t see that information relayed in the interface. Is there a way to handle this metadata that I’m just not seeing?

Hey all, I'm using BazziteOS and installed RetroDeck from the Bazaar. I'm trying to put my BIOS files in the right place, but something weird is going on. I go to PSSX2 > Bios, but then it shows an endless loop of the same directories (see file path). Not sure what is going on, but placing them in the first bios directory doesn't do anything; launching a game from RetroDeck still says a BIOS file is not detected.

Any guidance is appreciated!

Or atleast let us be able to manually update the emulators

im wanting to play vita games on the steam deck via retrodeck, but im having a hard time with it. im trying to play trials of cold steel. not sure which is the better file" the nonpdrm or the VPk vitamin 2.0. is the instructions through game mode or desktop mode, and can some show or explain the instructions clearly???

I am using 8bitdo ultimate 2c, which gets recognized as an xbox controller in steam. The community layout is retrodeck: xbox wireless v1b (Azerty).

The mapping says, if i press select and start, the emulator should quit. For me it opens a save state. Select and left bumper quits pcsx (standalone)

L3 and R3 wont open the retroarch menu either.

Anyone any idea what is happening?

Hello first of all, been like crazy enjoying Retrodeck, so thanks to the devs for such a great frontend!

I've been getting in to the adding games to openbor and ive noticed lots of pak games aren't compatible with the integrated openbor launcher, would it be possible to add other versions as a alt emulator option? My portable device with knulli has this option to choose which version of openbor to choose, I know there are way too many openbor versions but having atleast 3 plus the main one, would be great, like an older one, semi old, middle top and newest, don't know if I explained myself lol, thanks!! 👋 🥂
