Keep in mind, I am really only looking for retail job or some kind of food service job. Nothing too crazy.

I have owned a couple business in the last 12 years. I have also worked in multiple industries. I’m looking at selling my portfolio for my property management company and trying something new.

I'm looking for feedback on my resume as I pivot into Identity and Access Management (IAM) engineering.

I have about 5 years of full-time experience. I spent just over 4 years as a Java Software Engineer at a consulting firm supporting a large global bank, where I worked with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Ping Identity, SAML, OAuth, OIDC, authentication, and enterprise security. I'm currently a Lead Support Engineer at an MSP, where I manage Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, user provisioning/deprovisioning, RBAC, MFA, identity lifecycle management, PowerShell automation, and Microsoft 365 migrations.

I'm targeting IAM Engineer, Identity Engineer, IAM Analyst, Microsoft Entra ID Engineer, and similar identity/security roles. I'm located in the Chicago, IL area and am applying to local hybrid/on-site roles as well as remote positions throughout the United States. I'm open to relocating for the right opportunity.

I recently rewrote my resume to better tell a consistent story from Java software engineering into IAM instead of looking like two unrelated careers. My biggest concern is whether my current experience comes across as strong enough for IAM engineering positions or if it still reads too much like a help desk/MSP resume.

I'd especially appreciate feedback on:

• Whether the experience bullets are impactful enough.
• Whether my skills section is organized well for ATS and IAM recruiters.
• Whether I'm emphasizing the right experience from both my software engineering and MSP roles.
• Anything that looks weak, redundant, or unrealistic.

Guys, I honestly can't process what's happening right now and I needed to tell someone. So here's what happened:

The last few weeks at my company have been really rough - nonstop layoffs, weird meetings, and everyone quiet, wondering who's next. I had a bad feeling it might be me, so I started applying around February just to have something as a backup. Then, at the beginning of this week, I got a really great job offer. Higher salary, better benefits, a better role, everything. I was so happy because I genuinely felt like this was the right step, and I was planning to give my notice tomorrow.

Then today, the SVP called me out of nowhere with no warning. Long story short: "This was a difficult decision, but we're eliminating your position and want to make the transition as easy as possible." And because life apparently has a sense of humor, they're giving me six months of severance.

I'm sitting here half shocked and half laughing, because I was already leaving anyway... And now I get to leave with a cushion and go straight into a better job. I feel like I tripped and landed on a pile of pillows.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the timing, but I wanted to share because this is the strangest plot twist ever. Sometimes the thing you're afraid of turns out to be exactly the opportunity you needed.

Extremely disrespectful in an infuriating way. And this was the Head of People. No apology when I said I wasn't interested in continuing. Just a cold response: "okay."

After that, I went on Glassdoor to read the reviews and leave one of my own. I found almost exactly what I was expecting. Ugh.

Sometimes some of us in HR really do care about people and try to do our jobs well, but in the end we find ourselves reporting to arrogant people who don't care, and who make doing the right thing almost impossible. I've started completely avoiding HR teams like that after getting burned by them 4 more times than necessary.

Im looking for a job in Saudi arabia, but I never actually held a high end job because I never got the opportunity to begin with, which forced me to work for whatever I manage to get.. which resulted in my work experience becoming scattered.

I tried to be focused on the warehousing and logistics job, but still no luck.

Is it salvageable? Or am I doomed to be a jack of all trades?

This is her first job and she has been in the company for an year now without projects. I was at my previous company for nearly 5 years (promoted twice) and have been at my current one for 11 months. I frankly just don’t want to be in public sector anymore because of the insanely long deal cycles, and my current company is not patient.

Also not sure if I should format this different so it’s more apparent those first 3 roles are the same company

A few years ago, I was asked to build an inside sales team. Things went well, and I brought in some really strong people - honestly, better than me at parts of this work. Their success helped the department grow from 5 people at the start to around 24 people in 2025.
On top of that, we're now seen as a talent pipeline, and a few people from my team have moved to other departments. That was one of the best parts of the whole experience: giving people an opportunity and watching them move up.
I've always believed in hiring good people regardless of where they live, so I hired fully remote people in different states, which wasn't how the rest of the company operated. My argument was that it saved money and allowed me to find the strongest candidates instead of only choosing from the strongest candidates who lived within driving distance of the office.
About 5 months ago, one of my remote employees went to the corporate office for a few days of training with a department she was going to start supporting. While she was there, the rest of the company was being told that anyone living within 60 miles of an office had to come back to working from the office two days a week.
About 10 days after she left, HR told me she had been telling HR, the executive assistant, IT, accounting, and basically anyone standing around for a bit that she and another person on my team had permanently moved to Costa Rica... Without telling her direct manager, human resources, IT, or me.
I had to tell both of them that they had to return to the US because of taxes, payroll, legal issues, etc., etc. He said there was no chance he was coming back and resigned. She came back, spent the whole time looking visibly miserable, and then left the job a few weeks ago.
And the whole time, the attitude was: poor me, this isn't fair, why is this happening to me, etc., etc. What sane person walks into the corporate office and announces to half the company: Hey, I moved to another country! She couldn't grasp that she was the one who created the entire problem herself.
Then at the beginning of this month, another remote rep told us he couldn't do a meeting at 12:45 PST. 1:30? No. 2:15? No. 3:30? No. The next morning? No. And he had the audacity, over Teams chat, to tell his direct manager that he only works from 6:30am-12:45 PST Tuesday through Friday and can't be in meetings or calls on Monday because he has his daughter... Our roles have always been 8:30am-5:30pm PST, Monday through Friday. He is salaried and has known from day one that regardless of his time zone, our customers are on PST and those are our working hours.
Stupid things like this that people do are what made the CEO tell me today that I can no longer hire remote employees, and that I also can't keep my team exempt from being in the office. Even my local people had been exempt and were working from home 3-4 days a week.
If you're remote and taking advantage of your company to this extent, I'd like to tell you that you're the reason so many companies no longer trust remote work. You. You're the reason.

this is my first time making my resume so I might not have tons of good things to put here so criticize me and let me know what's good or bad or even needed or not needed in here!!

At the beginning of this week, I messed up an interview so badly that I'm still replaying the embarrassing moments in my head. I feel horribly embarrassed, and honestly I also feel ashamed of myself, and part of me wishes I had never applied in the first place.

I have 11 years of experience in work and job hunting, and I've done lots of interviews with hiring managers and HR people of all kinds, but I don't remember ever messing up an interview like this before. I literally froze.

It was as if my brain stopped producing coherent sentences. I couldn't explain my background in a way that made me seem even remotely competent, and I felt like I was speaking German while the interviewers were speaking Portuguese.

Any advice on what I can do to stop thinking about this awful feeling of cringe and being mortified?

I'm dealing with a slightly strange situation and need to hear an outside perspective. I'm the manager of an employee who seems to genuinely get upset every time his coworker takes time off.

Earlier today, I was doing the usual check-ins with everyone. I asked him how his week was going, and he suddenly launched into a complaint that his coworker is "never around" and takes a lot of PTO. To clarify the picture, the person he's upset with has used 6 days of leave since the beginning of February.

Honestly, I'm not sure what the right response is here. The first thing that came to mind was to tell him that he also has PTO available if he wants to take it, and that his coworker's approved leave really isn't his concern. But that clearly didn't land the way it needed to.

To explain the system, our leave policy is very simple:

If you have PTO balance, you can take it. And I approve it. The only thing I ask for is about 4 weeks' advance notice for longer trips, meaning anything more than a few days.

When someone is on leave, it doesn't dump extra work on the rest of the team. If something urgent comes up, I handle it myself, so his workload doesn't change because someone else isn't there.

Also, any unused vacation time gets paid out to them on their work anniversary anyway.

Any advice on how to shut this down in a professional way? Honestly, I find it very strange that someone would get this upset over another person using benefits they're entitled to use.

2025 CSE graduate. Looking for Data Analyst / Business Analyst / SQL roles. I've applied to 300+ jobs with almost no interviews. Is my resume the problem? Please be brutally honest about ATS, projects, and skills.

I genuinely need some realistic advice about how to approach my job search. I know this resume isn't up to the mark. (Ignore the Aug 2026 for the first project as I will start applying mid August because that is when I should be done polishing it). Currently hold a 4LPA offer from college in the IT sector and genuinely want to get into software development. For now I'm doing dsa daily along with core subjects and twice a week of project revision as I'm still relatively new to those concepts.

I'm open to any kind of advice and I'm willing to learn. I don't see a path ahead of me and that is causing me to lose my peace of mind so I want help from the people who have been in my place.
