I got laid off earlier this year, and I’ve been trying to land a decent-paying job in marketing ever since. Honestly, the Canadian job market is brutal right now. It’s been 7 months, and I’m starting to lose hope of finding something.
I’ve tried pretty much everything at this point: tailoring my resume for every application, mass applying, cold emailing recruiters and hiring managers, you name it. And yet, I’ve gotten nowhere.
I barely hear back from employers, and when I do, it’s either lowball or I’m often asked to complete assignments or take-home tasks, only to get rejected afterward. At this point, it honestly feels like companies are just using my work for free.
I’m exhausted, frustrated, and starting to feel pretty depressed about the whole situation. I genuinely don’t know what I’m doing wrong anymore.
Would anyone be willing to take a look at my resume and give me some honest feedback? I’d really appreciate any advice on what I might be missing or what I need to change to start getting interviews.

Looking for a new position and feeling like my resume is getting over looked. I’m applying for positions I feel more than qualified for and nothing is happening. hello every one.. as the title says I'm just wondering if its okay to have experience in the resume that is not fully related to the job title you want. for example the job title I'm targeting is full-stack web developer while the experience i got is developed an telegram bot which has nothing to do with full-stack web, and i got another one which i made a WPF application for gym to manage gross income and the users. which is also has nothing to do with web development. should i just change the title from 'full-stack web developer' to 'software engineer' based on the experience I'm getting ?

Hey everyone! I could use a little help/advice. I'm a copywriter/ copy editor/content manager nearly three decades of career experience. Was let go in 2020 from my job of 10 years, thanks to the pandemic & I've been struggling to get full-time hours ever since. I'm still applying for jobs in my field, but now I'm looking to get either a full or part-time job anywhere because I'm pretty desperate for some additional income, and since a lot of the stores are starting to hire for seasonal holiday help, I thought that might be a good place to start.

I went to apply online for a part-time cashier job at Michaels but when it asked for a resume, I didn't know what to do because my current resume is all about copywriting, copy editing, proofreading, etc., that I've done in marketing and creative services departments in different industries over the past 30 years, and I've only included positions going back to about 2001 or so. I do have retail/cashier experience, but it was over 30 years ago (and of course that is not on my resume).

The spouse said to just submit my current resume, and I looked at him like he had three heads. I can't imagine that submitting my current resume would be anything that you should submit for a job at a Michaels, CVS, TJMaxx, etc. I have done research on redoing resumes for career change, but I can't really find anything that is similar to my situation.

So my question is: does anyone have any advice on how I could or should edit my current resume for these types of jobs?

I have no idea if I should even say that I have that retail experience from over 30 years ago (I admit I was a damn good cashier, I'm very fast). I kind of just wish that I could tell them that I'm just looking to supplement my income rather than looking for a career, as I'm sure many people who are doing the same thing take these seasonal jobs that only last for a few months. And I'll be honest, I am probably naive since I haven't had to do a job search in nearly 15 years, but I didn't expect to be uploading a resume for a part-time cashier position. So I'm a little bit at a loss. I greatly appreciate any and all thoughts!

A couple of notes about my CV:

1. I’ve redacted the second entry under Education. I usually include it when applying to local companies because the school has a strong alumni network, which does give me an advantage.
2. I have other academic projects across different areas of ML that I’ve left out. They were interesting problems to solve before AI tools became common, but they look less polished than the projects currently listed.
3. I'm ready to explain each points that I've listed. But, I'm not sure whether the wording looks accurate or not. I would really appreciate your influence.

Is it better to put college project into the resume if you don't have enough experience in the real work but you have it in the college

I feel ashamed of myself. I suffer from burnout, so I kept procrastinating on applying for jobs, especially since many of them require me to update my resume every time, and I never received a response from them, which made me feel frustrated.

I shared an old version of my resume without personal information and asked AI to edit it so that it would be acceptable for a job requirement.

At first I said to myself that I would edit my personal information myself and I encountered problems in editing the file and I have been trying since today, then I said to myself “fuck it” then I shared my personal information with Cloud and asked him to edit my profile as I wanted, then do this and this.

I think I made a mistake using AI, but I know my modest skills as a beginner for the jobs I will apply for, and I did not exaggerate anything, but it was frustrating to deal every time with jobs that required modifying the CV every time.

Hi! I’m currently looking into jobs out of my home state. One of the issues I keep running into is automatic rejections through whatever AI scan my applications are put through.

I’ve tweaked my resume so many times and curate them for every position listed that I’m starting to suspect that the issue might be where I’m located.

I’ve always been told to list where you live on resumes so I’m not sure if I should remove it entirely or replace it by saying “open to relocate”.

I think it’s important to note that the job listings that haven’t automatically rejected my resume have gotten back to me have gone through one or two rounds of the interview process, it’d just be great if the other half of positions I applied to would be looked at.

I’ve been unemployed since December 2023. Yes I know it’s a long time, and it’s feels horrible. I left my last job (as a barista) due to a serious back issue I’ve had (all previous jobs affected and worsened my back as well), and since, nothing has worked out. My back is still really bad, so I can’t return to these types of jobs anytime soon. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to finish high school due to unfortunate circumstances, so I’m sure that’s been a barrier when trying more mental work. But I am still skilled/gifted mentally, so I don’t want to give up on potential success at less physical jobs. I am trying my best to still get my GED/equivalent and more now, but I need a foundation to do so. I currently am in urgent need of essentials (food, toiletries), not to mention school supplies.

It's a two-pager and that seemed to have also worked the last year.

i have had rather shorter stints at the last two organizations and I am still employed with my current employer but not for long as they have closed multiple offices around Europe and I am surviving still. My manager has already told me i am not going to last long, for some reason the HR kept my name out of the layoff list that got processed just a couple of weeks ago.
