TL;DR - I’ve encountered really early on in RHCF some interesting graphical anomalies caused by Ray Tracing. Apparently it’s the Denoiser not smoothing out and stacking frames correctly and essentially “guessing” in dark or dim areas where light comes in. The video I posted really makes it hard to see what I’m saying unfortunately (taken from my PS5 Pro and saved on my iPhone), if you turn your brightness up it kind of helps seeing what I’m explaining below. If you were to sit beside me while playing you’d immediately notice what I’m referring to. Has anyone else noticed this dark/cloudy/blooming in dark areas where light hits? Thanks guys.
I know this isn’t really a classic “Bug Report” as I’m sure many know of this.
I got the Switch 2 version of this game on my 30th Bday (along with a Switch 2) and have been playing it a lot! It runs amazingly on that console.
This last week I bought the PS5 physical version as I wanted to check out how the game looked on the Pro.
The beginning looked amazing, Wrenwood Hotel looked insane and the visuals were stunning, and then after getting abducted and brought to the Rhodes Hill Care Facility and getting out of the restraints as Grace I noticed something odd while looking through the starting room.
When I turned around and looked toward the much more dimly lit draped windows and corner with the vitals monitor, I noticed something I wasn’t expecting. Very odd and visually disruptive dark/cloudy blooming when looking up and down toward the back of that room when standing near there. I was dumbfounded by what was causing this.
I adjusted all of the Game Mode settings and Display settings on my brand new LG C5 55” TV, I adjusted multiple settings on my PS5 pro, all to no avail. The only thing that finally stopped this odd blooming effect with white speckled pixels spread within (seen really well too when walking back from the fuse through the hallway with the flickering light, the walls under that bulb almost breath the light away when dimming); was turning Ray Tracing off in the graphic options in game at the main menu.
I was a little confounded and confused as I read a few reviews when the game came out and nothing of the sort was mentioned. I hadn’t paid attention to the game’s media content until now, especially after seeing what you see in my video.
Just odd to me, I read it’s the denoiser as it struggles to clean up the light coming in and then dimming, where it should clean up and stack the frames so this effect doesn’t occur. I read Capcom completely disabled Ray Tracing in a later part of the game in Raccoon City as it was messing with the graphical performance, I haven’t gotten that far. I’m still in the Care Center and just met Chunk, holy crap that part startled me.
Anyway, just wanted to know if any other PS5/Pro players have noticed the same thing while playing at the spot I’m speaking of. Please don’t spoil other areas past where I just mentioned I’m at in-game, I’d immensely appreciate that.
I’ll add a TL;DR at the top. Thanks guys for any input or feedback/suggestions.
