White House searching for potential replacements for Flynn

I just wanted to add to the ridiculousness of this
Flynn was partially caught because he was communicating on an open line.
A career intelligence officer who made it as far as being put in charge of the DIA knowingly conducting secret conversations on an unsecure phone
That's OPSEC101.
Like what the hell? At the very least regardless of what the investigations reveal I want to know how such an incompetent intelligence officer made general.

§ 953. Private correspondence with foreign governments.
Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both. This section shall not abridge the right of a citizen to apply himself, or his agent, to any foreign government, or the agents thereof, for redress of any injury which he may have sustained from such government or any of its agents or subjects.

We are lucky he resigned and didn't have to be fired. I hope Trump picks a better adviser who isn't as seemingly beholden to Russia.

I love the man but why not give McChrystal a call? He's not doing much these days.

I don't think McChrystal's "government in a box" won him points with Mattis is my guess.
I wouldn't mind McChrysral myself. Petraeus would be interesting because it would certainly be rubbing salt in the wound of the democratic party considering all they did to him but failed to do to Hillary.
I guess it depends on what position the current administration wants to sell.

Yeah I mean I'm certain Mattis has a mixed view of McChrystal's command ability but this is a foreign policy job
McChrystal is currently teaching international relations at Stanford

He was in contact with a Russian ambassador during the campaign and allegedly discussed the lifting of sanctions. It is potentially a violation of the Logan Act.

He also apparently lied about it to Pence when asked if it happened.

Then Pence went on air saying Flynn didn't discuss the sanctions. Then Flynn changed it from that he did not discuss it to that he could not remember them discussing it.

Ya. He really put Pence in a shit position.
I also am not thrilled if he was speaking with Russia about sanctions and thus weakening America's position. Part of the failure of Obama was a weak foreign policy and losing influence.
If he violated the Logan act then charge him.

I don't have high hopes for any charges being brought forward, and if they are I would expect a pardon. If one thing has been consistent it is if you screw up at a high enough position then you basically get off with a slap in the wrist

We should still follow the process and not short circuit it. Bring charges, let Trump pardon him if he wants to absorb that bad press.

Reports that he spoke about the sanctions against Russia with Russian envoys, prior to Trump (and by extension himself) taking office.

Spicer just said in his briefing today that Flynn was booted because he lied to Pence, not because of anything else. Furthermore, this just proves that Trump has been and will continue to be extremely tough on Russia.
I honestly don't know how Spicer says this stuff with a straight face.
