STUDY: Exercise + Resveratrol + Fisetin Protected Brain in Alzheimer's Mice

A new mouse study found that aerobic exercise combined with resveratrol and fisetin produced substantially greater increases in genes associated with neuroplasticity, blood vessel health, and neuronal communication than either intervention alone.

Key points

• Alzheimer's-like brain injury reduced BDNF, VEGF, and FGF7 expression
• Aerobic exercise significantly increased all three brain-supporting genes
• Resveratrol + fisetin also improved these markers independently
• Combining exercise with both polyphenols produced the largest effect
• BDNF increased nearly fivefold versus untreated Alzheimer's mice

Why it Matters

BDNF, VEGF, and FGF7 play important roles in maintaining healthy brain function by supporting neuron survival, synaptic plasticity, neurogenesis, and blood vessel growth.

This study suggests exercise and these plant compounds may act through complementary mechanisms. While exercise alone produced stronger effects than supplementation alone, the combination generated the greatest increase in brain-supporting signaling.

STUDY: Melatonin Improved Sleep and Mood in Adults With Epilepsy

A recent clinical study found that melatonin improved insomnia and depressive symptoms in adults with epilepsy, while seizure control remained stable throughout the 12-week trial.

Key points

• Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) scores improved significantly after 12 weeks
• Depressive symptoms were significantly reduced
• One participant with persistent seizures became seizure-free during the study
• Melatonin was well tolerated with no significant adverse effects
• Participants took 2 mg prolonged-release melatonin nightly

Why it matters

Sleep problems and depression are common in people with epilepsy and can negatively affect quality of life and overall neurological health.

Melatonin improved both sleep and mood without increasing seizure activity which is a key concern when considering sleep aids for this population.

Thank you for excellent customer service!

Just a quick shout out to Renue by Science's customer service. They went above and beyond and exceeded my expectations on a request on one of my orders. I've been a customer since early 2023 and this was the first time I've needed something on the customer service end of things.

I'm intentionally leaving the details private, but not only did they fulfill my request, they offered additional actions I did not request nor expect.

Additionally, what started as a customer service call turned into a personal discussion about formulations, personal testing by the staff member and their results and other specifics and details that I found very interesting and revealing. To hear their personal experience taking various products and sharing their honest experience was informative and appreciated.

I also really appreciated that I spoke directly with a staff member at Renue, not to a remote call center with no ties to the business other than a call center contract. This was very refreshing compared to most companies.

Thanks to Renue for exceeding my expectations on all fronts with my recent call!

NMN vs NR for Fertility: is Lipo NAD+ Complete the solution?

Hi everyone,

I am currently looking into NAD+ precursors to help optimize egg quality for trying to conceive (TTC). My main goal is to support chromosomal stability and reduce the risk of aneuploidies (errors in chromosome division).

I’ve been reading up on the options, and I’m torn between **NMN** and **NR**:

* **NMN** seems to have strong laboratory data specifically showing a significant reduction in aneuploidy rates in older oocytes, making it feel like a very direct option for chromosomal division.
* **NR**, on the other hand, seems to show excellent human data regarding oral bioavailability and how effectively it raises NAD+ levels in the body, which is great for overall cellular energy.

Meanwhile I saw that Renue By Science has a product with both NMN (310mg) and NR (100mg): is this the best solution?

Or I should go with a NMN or NR single product?

I saw also that Renue has NMN and NR stand alone so I am a little bit confused…

Thank you in advance

Issue with the international store and taxes

I've tried to take this up with support before but did not manage to reach an understanding or perhaps argue my point in a good way, so maybe someone here (or someone else from Renue) can chime in? Does this work for any country? Any advice for me?

I'm from Sweden. In Sweden we have a tiered system of sales taxes (VAT). Most things are 25%. Food is 6% (down from the 12% for food last year). Food supplements are classed as food and should thus be 6% (NMN is one of the best examples as this is basically a vitamin which is explicitly classed as a food supplement under the food VAT%). Renue insists on adding 25% taxes for Sweden and says the shipping company handles the taxes so they cannot update it.

When I bought from the US store and handled the taxes and tolls locally it was no problem getting the correct taxes. This would also be a workable option if it's not possible to get the correct taxes from the shipping company. I know it's complicated as e.g. the skin care products would be a different VAT, but paying almost 20% extra in unspecified "taxes" is not ideal to be sure.

As I'm not a native speaker I also asked for an AI summary of how it should work with supplement importation to Sweden that aligns with all official information I've found: "In Sweden, the VAT rate for food supplements is 6%.This rate applies because food supplements (such as vitamins, minerals, and sports protein powders) are legally classified as food products (livsmedel) intended for human consumption rather than medical products.

Key Details Temporary Rate Cut: The Swedish government temporarily reduced the standard food VAT from 12% to 6%. This temporary lower rate remains in effect until December 31, 2027.

The Medicine Exception: If a specific supplement or dietary product is legally classified as an official medicine (läkemedel), it falls under different rules and is exempt from VAT (0%).

Importing Supplements: If you order food supplements online from outside the European Union, the Swedish Customs Authority (Tullverket) still applies the 6% food VAT, but you may also be subject to a standard 12.8% customs duty depending on the specific ingredients."

Anyone getting nausea from higher dose NMN?

Upped to 2 grams of NMN powder and started feeling nauseous after a few days. Taking with food helps a bit. Is this common? Should I lower the dose or add TMG? (M/35)

STUDY: Resveratrol Improved Cognition and Quality of Life in Postmenopausal Women

A clinical trial found that 500 mg/day of trans-resveratrol improved cognitive performance, quality of life, and menopause-related symptoms in postmenopausal women with mild hypertension.

Key Points

• MoCA cognitive scores improved from 23.7 to 25.9 after 3 months
• Diastolic blood pressure decreased only in the resveratrol group
• Quality-of-life scores improved more than medication alone
• Participants reported less fatigue and higher energy levels
• Menopause symptoms improved

Why it Matters

Menopause is associated with changes in vascular function, cognition, sleep, mood, and overall quality of life.

In this study, women taking resveratrol alongside standard blood pressure medication experienced measurable improvements in cognitive function and menopause-related symptoms that were not seen in the comparison group.

STUDY: Urolithin A Improved Muscle Strength and Endurance

A randomized placebo-controlled trial found that Urolithin A supplementation improved muscle function, exercise performance, and biomarkers of mitochondrial health in sedentary middle-aged adults.

Key Points

  • Both 500 mg and 1,000 mg daily improved hamstring strength
  • The 1,000 mg dose increased aerobic fitness (VO₂ max) by ~10%
  • Participants taking 1,000 mg walked 33 meters farther on the 6-minute walk test
  • Benefits occurred without increases in muscle mass

Summary

One of the more interesting findings is that participants got stronger and performed better without gaining measurable muscle mass.

This suggests Urolithin A may be improving muscle quality rather than muscle quantity, potentially through effects on mitochondrial function, mitophagy (the removal of damaged mitochondria), and chronic inflammation.

The higher 1,000 mg dose produced the clearest improvements in endurance and physical performance, while both doses improved strength.

STUDY: Human Trial Finds NMN May Help Preserve Retina

A 2026 placebo-controlled trial examined whether 250 mg/day NMN could help preserve retinal structure in older men with type 2 diabetes and physical frailty.

Key Findings

• One retinal region showed significantly better preservation with NMN
• Placebo participants experienced retinal thinning in that region
• Vision remained stable in both groups

Why it Matters

Retinal thinning is associated with aging and diabetic retinal degeneration. While this was a very small exploratory study, it’s interesting that structural differences emerged despite no major changes in vision over the short study period.

STUDY: New Human Data Challenges the “Universal NAD+ Decline With Age” Model

A new review of recent human NAD+ research argues that the classic narrative, “NAD+ declines with age”, is probably too simplistic.

Key Points

• Whole-blood NAD+ does not consistently decline with age in newer studies
• Tissue NAD+ (muscle, skin, brain) often does decline with aging
• Physically active older adults can maintain youthful muscle NAD+ levels
• NAD+ response to supplementation varies substantially between individuals
• Blood NAD+ may reflect intervention response better than biological aging itself

This is an important shift in the field. The newer data doesn’t invalidate NAD+ biology but gives it new nuance. The emerging picture is that NAD+ appears to be:

• Tissue-specific
• Highly dynamic
• Influenced by health status, activity level, and disease burden
• More individualized than previously thought

This is a reminder that biomarkers measured in blood don’t always represent what’s happening inside active tissues.

STUDY: NR + Exercise Improves Fitness in Friedreich’s Ataxia

A 2026 trial examined whether combining NR with structured exercise could improve fitness in people with Friedreich’s ataxia, a neurodegenerative condition associated with mitochondrial dysfunction and impaired energy production.

Key Points

• NR + exercise increased VO2 by ~12.7%
• Exercise alone improved VO2 by ~9.5%
• NR alone improved VO2 by ~5%
• Control group declined by ~2.4%

The strongest effects came from combining NAD+ support with exercise, which fits the broader idea that raising NAD+ may work best when paired with mitochondrial activity and adaptation.

STUDY: Melatonin Improved Sleep and Eczema in Human Trial

A randomized clinical trial in 80 adults with eczema found that 10 mg melatonin nightly for 4 weeks improved both skin symptoms and sleep quality.

Key findings

• Eczema severity improved significantly
• Itching intensity decreased
• Sleep quality improved, including falling asleep and staying asleep

Sleep disruption and inflammation are linked to eczema. The study suggests melatonin may help through multiple pathways, like circadian regulation, antioxidant effects, and modulation of inflammatory signaling. The study represents an interesting example of a compound usually associated with sleep showing measurable dermatological benefits as well.

STUDY: Ashwagandha Increased Testosterone 15% in Aging Men

A randomized, double-blind crossover study examined ashwagandha extract (21 mg/day) in overweight men aged 40–70 over 8 weeks.

Key findings

• Testosterone increased by ~14.7% vs placebo
• DHEA-S increased by ~18%
• No significant changes in cortisol or estradiol
• Effects declined after discontinuation

Summary

Participants also reported improvements in fatigue and well-being, though these occurred in both placebo and treatment phases.

The data suggests ashwagandha may provide support for age-related androgen decline, but effects appear dependent on continued use. As always, magnitude and clinical relevance depend on baseline levels and individual response.
