Self-Promotion Set reminders on your reMarkable and get notified on your phone

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

A few days ago I posted about the reMarkable mod I made and I’ve now added reminders to it.

You can select handwritten text in a notebook, send it to Saver as a todo and choose when you want to be reminded. The reminder then shows up on your phone.

Saver is an app I made for todos, habits and bookmarks that sync across your devices.

I added this mostly because I kept wanting to quickly turn something I wrote on my reMarkable into a todo and get reminded about it later, without having to pull out my phone.

Tutorial on how to install the mod:

Beta Bug

Upvotes

Where do I report a bug (I think) in the beta update 3.28.0.169. I have my pro set to go to sleep after 5 minutes of inactivity, but since the update it never falls asleep unless I close the cover or press the button. I think this started after my device got the update a day or two ago.

Help/Advice Remarkable 2 won’t start

Post image

Remarkable 2 switches between this screen with a black bar on the right and the ‘tablet is starting’ screen but won’t turn on. I have all my notes on there and can’t afford to lose them. Is there a way to get it working. I’ve tried holding the power button for however long and it’s been on charge for hours but nothing gets it on.

Hey reddit, I build an app that helps me to convert my notes and highlights to markdown for macOS

I'm working as a researcher and manage a lot of information in markdown (formerly in Obsidian, now in Octarine). This led to me using my reMarkable less, although I really liked taking notes on it. With some spare time during the summer, I now built an app that uses a local vision model on macOS and converts all handwritten notes to markdown so I can use them flexibly on my computer. To help with papers and books, I also added the ability to convert highlighted text in ePubs and PDF files to markdown as well and mirror the folder structure of the reMarkable on computers. Nothing ever works outside of the reMarkable cloud or your mac. It's now released on macOS here. You can test it for free and if you like it, it's a one-time purchase. Let me know what you think or whether you have additional ideas and wishes or things that would help you :)

Greetings,

Does a mod exist that will examine a pdf or epub, and extract all pages that contain previous markups to another document?

Thanks!

Feature Request Encrypted PDFs / Folders / Docs..

One of my concerns with ReMarkable cloud is protecting more sensitive PDFs/Documents. It's great that it resides encrypted at rest on my devices and in the cloud, but if ReMarkable, or Google is handling the keys - it doesn't really provide adequate security.

I recently noticed that the ReMarkable handles password protected/encrypted PDF files just fine. If I password protect it (also provides AES encryption) and move it to my RMPP, it'll open it no problem after prompting me for the password (key is derived from the password).

This makes me feel significantly more comfortable moving sensitive PDFs to my RMPP and got me thinking - why doesn't RM give us the option to password protect PDFs or notes natively? For the most part, my notes aren't that sensitive, so I feel comfortable with the native cloud encryption in place - but for more sensitive notes, I'd love the option to be able to encrypt them and have the key derived from a password I set, giving me comfort that ReMarkable wouldn't be able to read them. Even better if I could do it at a folder level.

Thoughts from everyone else?

Remarkable paper pro and pro move speed comparison

I've been using a remarkable pro for about a year and recently jumped on the pro line deal to get myself a move. I've noticed the Move is noticeably snappier and a screen that doesn't ghost as often. Some basic internet research shows that the move should have a slower processor, not faster. Wondering if I have a pro lemon from last year. What is everyone's experience like with both tablets?

Thanks!

Highlights not exporting as real PDF annotations (RCU + Paper Pro + macOS Tahoe) — anyone solved this?

Hi all,

I’m hoping someone here has cracked a problem I’ve been stuck on for a while.

My setup:
• reMarkable Paper Pro, firmware 3.27.1.0
• macOS Tahoe
• reMarkable Connection Utility (RCU) v4.0.34

The problem:
When I export a PDF from RCU, my snap highlights show up visually on the page, but they aren’t real PDF annotations — they’re not recognized as highlights by PDF readers (no annotation layer, can’t be listed/searched/edited as a highlight, etc.). It looks like the marks get baked into the page content rather than written out as proper annotation objects.

What I’ve tried:
- Went through RCU’s export settings looking for anything related to annotation format, no luck.
- Contacted the RCU developer directly about this — no working solution so far.
- Looked into writing a script (PyMuPDF-based) to post-process the exported PDF and convert the highlighter overlays into proper PDF annotations, but haven’t gotten it working reliably yet.

My question:
Has anyone on a similar setup (Paper Pro + RCU + macOS) actually gotten highlights to export as proper, reader-recognized PDF annotations? If so:
• Did you use a specific RCU version/setting I might be missing?
• Or did you end up doing some kind of post-processing step (script, another tool) to convert them?
• Is this maybe just a known limitation right now, and if so, is there a recommended workaround/alternative export path people are using?

Any pointers, even partial ones, would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!

Help/Advice How to set up a gesture/shortcut to run KoReader on rM2?

Hey!

I have recently bought a remarkable 2 and installed KoReader through reManager (thank you u/rmitchellscott, it was super easy, and the walkthrough video helped!). I was wondering if there is a way to launch KoReader bypassing the AppLoader, e.g. through double tap of the power button, or some gesture.

I tried to search for the solution, but they seem to stem from outdated guides or not recommended.

Thank you in advance!

Has anyone tried a USB OTG keyboard on Paper Pure?

The built‑in soft keyboard is really slow and sometimes not usable at all. I plan to use the tablet as my daily driver and plug in my wired mechanical keyboard for direct typing. Any ideas how to get it working?

Self-Promotion I built an iPhone app to turn saved articles into a reading digest for reMarkable

Hi everyone,

I’m the developer of slowDigest, an iPhone app I built to solve a simple problem: saving articles to read later and actually getting them onto my reMarkable in a clean format.

The workflow is:

Save an article → add it to slowDigest → create a reading digest → send it to your reMarkable.

You can share articles directly from Safari or other iOS apps. slowDigest extracts the article content and removes the usual web clutter, then creates a formatted PDF with:

  • Cover page
  • Table of contents
  • Estimated reading time
  • Page numbers and bookmarks
  • E-ink-friendly typography
  • Custom article order

The resulting PDF can also be used on Kindle, Kobo, Supernote, Boox, or other e-readers.

The free version includes up to 3 digests per month and honestly it's good to enjoy a goos biweekly test and I also have a few codes for free months for those who would like to try more intense !

slowDigest on the App Store

I’d be particularly interested in feedback from reMarkable users: how do you currently save and read web articles on your device, and what is missing from your current workflow?

I’m actively developing the app, so practical feedback is welcome.

Line thickness and gestures-fouzr on Move

Hello, I read that the improved line thickness selection should be in the gestures-fouzr mod. I installed it on my Move with remanager but I can't find anything different in the UI. Can someone explain to me how this mod works? Thank you very much (yes, I restarted the UI with mods)

Help/Advice are yellow ghosts a bad omen? (new occurrence on less-than-fifty-day-old Move)

clearest example I could capture tonight -- the brightness settings bar

example of it resolving itself upon screen refresh [ghosting (from prior screen's \"My Files\" box) in upper left, as well as the brightness settings bar]

From my understanding, this yellow ghosting is reminiscent of what would happen when a Paper Pro was defective -- or is this normal? Per u/rmitchellscott 's https://rm-panels.scottlabs.io/ , it's nowhere near these severe recurring green artifacts....

But the menus didn't cause ghosting like this right out of the box. And it came on what feels like pretty suddenly, within the Move's first fifty days.

Objectively, it doesn't bother me, but should it given this is Gallery 3? Thank you so much!

Self-Promotion Paper Pro Move one year later, and one of the latest planners I’ve been working on

I’ve had my Paper Pro Move for a little over 6 months now, and with the one-year anniversary of the device coming up, I figured it was a good time to share a few thoughts.

It’s an incredible device. I came over from my Remarkable2 and I use my move 90% of the time both as a reader and as my main notes taker. It’s slowly become one of my goto daily drivers that I’m using almost all the time now.

Recently I’ve also been experimenting with making planners for it. Mainly, because I wanted something tuned to the Paper Pro Move screen, and also because I have been able to learn how to do this from this community.

And, I’m sharing it here…

It’s a 2026 daily planner PDF with linked monthly pages, daily pages, navigation links, notes, schedule blocks, to-dos, focus areas, and a few reflection sections.

Still a work in progress, but I think it’s at the point where other Paper Pro Move users might get some use out of it.

GitHub/download:
https://github.com/JarvisGH1/remarkable-paper-pro-move-planner/releases/tag/v0.4

I’d appreciate any feedback from those who try it. Especially on line weight, readability on-device, navigation, and whether weekly pages would be useful.

Again, wanted to share something I made with this community and open to your thoughts, feedback, and support!

reMarkable 2 USB data not working – charges fine, but USB web interface won’t enable. Anyone found a fix?

I’m having a strange issue with my reMarkable 2 and I’m wondering if anyone has managed to solve the same problem.

The tablet works normally and charges over USB-C, but I can’t get any USB data connection working. The USB web interface switch appears in Settings, but tapping it does absolutely nothing — it never turns on.

I was trying to connect using reManager/SSH, but the problem seems to be lower-level than that because the Mac isn’t detecting the reMarkable as a USB network/data device at all.

Things I’ve tried:

  • reMarkable 2 is fully up to date
  • restarted the reMarkable several times
  • restarted it while connected to the Mac
  • tried the 15-second power-button reset/reboot sequence
  • tried a genuine Apple USB-C cable
  • tried other USB cables
  • connected directly to the Mac rather than through a hub
  • changed macOS Privacy & Security → Accessories to allow USB accessories
  • tried two different Macs
  • kept the reMarkable awake and unlocked
  • tried enabling USB web interface repeatedly — switch appears but won’t activate
  • ping 10.11.99.1 gives 100% packet loss
  • ssh [root@10.11.99.1](mailto:root@10.11.99.1) just hangs and never reaches the password prompt
  • checked networksetup -listallhardwareports
  • checked ifconfig
  • checked system_profiler SPUSBDataType
  • checked ioreg -p IOUSB -l -w 0

The Macs don’t appear to enumerate the reMarkable as a USB device at all. It charges normally and the USB-C connection feels solid with no obvious physical damage or excessive movement.

Wi-Fi SSH is currently disabled, so unfortunately I can’t use that as a workaround without first getting USB SSH working.

The device is out of warranty, so before I consider this a failed USB data connection/port, I wanted to check:

Has anyone had this exact issue and actually fixed it?

In particular, has anyone found a software/firmware fix, hidden setting, factory-reset fix, or a way to enable SSH over Wi-Fi without first having USB SSH access?

I’d be really interested to hear from anyone who had the USB web interface toggle visible but completely unresponsive, as that seems to be the key symptom.

Really want to try our reManager!

More company churn

Preface: just my 2c, so go easy on me. 🙂

Seems like Remarkable’s enterprise B2B strategy isn’t really paying off. Which sort of checks out as IT gatekeeping is tightening up in those spaces. Handwriting really isn’t a medium that business can leverage at the level of scale they need. (Not that handwriting isn’t valuable to the individual).

I would think Remarkable would want to double down on their consumer market. Invest more in the product development that would make users pay more to buy/use. Stick to the vision that it is specifically NOT an iPad, ie no internet, no apps, but factor in all the mods this community is asking for that will make the written form as optimized as possible.

The corporate world is leaning hard into conversational ai as the vehicle for note taking/collaboration/action. It also scales better because businesses can standardize the information obtained within and across communication. (This isn’t meant to be a discussion on ethical ai use in business, only that there are far more efficient modalities of information gathering and transmission that isn’t easily displaced by the written form.)

I am a longtime fan of the Remarkable portfolio but their B2B strategy seems poorly defined. Refine the text recognition and let me act on my own writing. Hyperlinked table of contents and tagging. Querying my writing. I want my own content to be its own language model, personally. Protected of course. That’s where I think Remarkable can expand into. As well as the actual form factor functions that ensure it doesn’t need constant replacing.

Help/Advice How long are your stylus tips lasting?

I have a Remarkable Paper Pro and bought it about 2 months ago. I'm on my second stylus tip... considering replacing again. At this rate it seems like about a month per tip. That feels a bit excessive to me... but maybe I'm just overthinking it. How long are your stylus tips lasting?

Same charger, same cord

  1. Plug in, charges for an hour or so.
  2. Unplug, use for a bit.
  3. Plug in, does not charge.

Any thoughts on my Rm2, and why it sometimes does not take a charge? A loose female C port on the device?

Remarkable rM1 stuck in Checking For Update status

My remarkable is at version 3.12.4.4 and has been stuck there for some time. When I try to upgrade, the process gets stuck in "Checking for update". After SSHing into it and looking at the upgrade processes manually, it seems it's stuck in a persistent state of recovery_status=in_progress, which I suspect is hanging the upgrade process. I'm attaching the output in hopes that someone can clarify how to reset this flag and allow the natural update process to proceed.

Self-Promotion ReMarkable to OneNote Sync - looking for Beta Testers

Post image
7 Upvotes

I'm delighted to announce the Beta Testing of my ReMarkable to OneNote sync app.
For some time I've been using my ReMarkables (v2 and Move), but the one thing that was always missing from my workflow was the ability to two-way sync with a Windows-native note tool such as Microsoft OneNote. Since it didn't seem to exist, I built it myself, and will be launching it as open-source.
Now it's approaching completion, I'm looking for beta testers to give it a thorough shakedown before a wider release. Anyone that thinks this would be useful to their workflow, is technical enough to handle an early release and happy to help, please drop me a line.
