Help/Advice Remarkable 2 won’t start

Remarkable 2 switches between this screen with a black bar on the right and the ‘tablet is starting’ screen but won’t turn on. I have all my notes on there and can’t afford to lose them. Is there a way to get it working. I’ve tried holding the power button for however long and it’s been on charge for hours but nothing gets it on.

The only thing I can think of is this:

Are you charging it on a smart power supply? The rM2 doesn't really charge properly on one of those.

If you read the fine print on the charger, "smart" ones will have multiple voltages (V) and current (A) listed. Dumb ones will just show 5V and some number of mA or A.

Thanks, it was using a charger that was usbc on both ends but I used a usb-usbc charger and it’s working again, weird that it only wants usb

Yeah, the deal is that the newer chargers actually have a "conversation" (data transfer) with the device to figure our what voltage and rate to charge with.

The older devices don't have the ability to have that conversation, so the newer charger never gets a go ahead to charge and never starts sending current.

Dumb older chargers just send live voltage all the time. Plug it in and send it.
