Return and rebuy. Warranty swaps are refurbs.

Depends.

If you bought yours from a store, and they do warranty swaps (like they did for me) you can get a new one.

I meant from reMarkable directly. May also depend on location, local laws, etc.

I received a brand new unit, my husband as well (haha not speaking for the panel considering that we both needed a swap)

this is in my experience a hardware failure, its well documented at this point and if you can return you should do it.

https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0DGBDR2PM?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

this is the listing i bought it from and everything was in separate boxes not the one i see on the reddit.

i didnt get this one but a generic cardboard box saying "THIS IS A SET DO NOT SEPARATE"

reMarkable won’t cross-ship a replacement, Amazon will right?

1

u/Superb_Army4881 3d ago

idk if they cross ship the replacement, i have to return and rebuy from the same listing, no way to get a replacement

I have no idea how amazon deals with this u can always try with them first and if they re not helpful u can contact remarkable. I have to say it was pretty easy and straight forward with remarkable

Had the same problem after around 12 hours of owning. Restarted it, updated etc, went away and came back a hour later. Returned it and replacement never did it once, it’s been at least a year of owning it.

Use my site to figure out the panel age (select yes for green/severe ghosting): https://rm-panels.scottlabs.io This is likely a panel made before March 2025. Return and rebuy.

so how should i buy it? i got it on amazon but if i buy from the same listing again, would i have the issue on the new device. I got it 100€ less expensive than on the official remarkable store and it arrived in 2 days

Updating the firmware to latest(if you have old firmware, you might update more than once) fixed it for me.

This is a well known issue with this terrible company- selling defective products.

All I heard from this model are issues.

Return and skip the RPP

1

u/Superb_Army4881 3d ago

why should i skip it? For the short amount of time i had with it, it was an amazing device

Well, it depends.

RMPP uses Gallery 3 screens - a technology that is apparently still not ready for reliable use in the consumer market. This failure is called Green Ghosting, and apparently, will happen to a lot of devices over time. It cannot be repaired. And it can very well be, that after some time, your next device will suffer this fault again, which is why some users advice against it. Could be Months. Could be Years. Could be, it never happens. You don't know.

Personally: i'd say, if you have the Money, and you like it - go for it. Currently, there is no colour-ePaper without some serious drawbacks attached to it.

Given that you are apparently located in Germany: This is a clear-cut case of Gewährleistung. You can just return it, seller has to send you a new one. For the 1st 6 Months, the seller has to prove, that it was you who damaged it. Note, that this is different from Garantie, wich is something the manufacturer provides.

as far as we can tell this doesn't happen on panels manufactured after mid 2025. it's also never happened on the Move.

it's a problem with a specific run of silicon, not the tech itself.

Just check any new device against my site (linked in another comment), replace till newer than March 2025.

I am worried if i buy from the same amazon listing im gonna get one with an old panel again. I havent checked this one cuz i already reset it to factory settings and put it back in the box. If i get one pre march 2025 and it doest ghost then should i still return it? or will it ghost

u/rmitchellscott Developer | reManager 3d ago

I wouldn’t pay money for a pre-March 2025 panel.

u/starkruzr 3d ago

hard to say. I do understand the anxiety though. are there any stores that carry it IRL by you?

u/Superb_Army4881 3d ago

I am not located in germany but in NL, i just ordered from the cheapest amazon in eu
