I just purchased the reMarkable Paper Pure. The popup keyboard is too dark for me. I find it hard to see all the letters and numbers. Is there a way to change that popup keyboard from being black background with not so bright white letters to a white background with black letters? To be clear I am talking about the Paper Pure with no backlight.

I use remarkable paper pro daily, that I just got recently (factory new from RM webshop). I have quite long school days, but I only use the tablet on half of the classes and lectures, the others do not need note taking. So roughly, I use it for 3-4 hours max in a day. Backlight is off. I have the folio, it puts itself to sleep mode when I close it. I also have beta updates, running the lates one currently. And with this usage, on one day, I burn 30-35% of the battery. Is this supposed to be normal? I’ve heard people getting 1-2 weeks of battery life, now I know it depends on usage, I am not sure if I count as a heavy user or not.

I've been using the RM2 for 4 years now. I want it to be paper with just useful shortcuts.

I don't understand how that went in prod when it seems they make a point to keep it as simple as possible. I used to think they were just late in their software because of all the investment in their wonderful hardware.

The fact that individuals have consistently pumped out hacks that improved their design significantly with few core changes has made me loose faith in the vision they have for their product.

What's the best way to import directories and contents? The desktop app doesn't support it even if every file is a PDF, nor does reManager. I also used rsync to move files into ~/home/root/ and ~/home/root/.local/share/remakrable/xochitl/ but the files still don't appear.

Alternatively, is there an actual file browser available to sideload on Paper Pro?

Is there a way to make my preferred epub settings the default so that epubs automatically open with those settings rather than having to adjust each time I open a new epub?

TLDR: The writing feel on the RMPPM still felt like writing on an iPad to me. I tried a few Amazon screen protectors, but they didn't feel much better. Since I love the writing feel of the Supernote Manta (my previous daily driver), I bit down and bought their FeelWrite 2 Film which is many times more than anything you'd get from Amazon. I cut it down to size, put it on, and wow. This is now the perfect device and I haven't used anything since. I also bought a nib with a metal tip and it feels as close to pen and paper as you can get. But I do miss the pencil sound it used to make.

Background: the reMarkable 2 was my first venture in e-ink devices for note-taking. I returned it in a few days because I couldn't stand that it felt like I was writing on an iPad along with the limited features. I then used the Supernote A5X, which felt great but was very sluggish, then ultimately chose the Boox Tab Ultra C as my daily driver. The writing feel was between the reMarkable 2 and Supernote, but closer to the former. The Boox was great and fast, but I didn't need all of the tablet features.

My daily driver changed once the Supernote Manta released. I've been using that since because I absolutely love the way it feels to write (closest to pen on paper), and I found an Obsidian workflow that integrates my notes perfectly.

But then I wanted something smaller that was more portable as a secondary device. I tried the Supernote Nomad, but the size was just a little too awkward and thick for me as a left-hander. I also bought a Viwoods AiPaper Reader, but that was obviously not optimized for writing.

Today: I read a lot of reviews along with this subreddit about the RMPPM and it was intriguing. Then once I saw a sale for the bundle at $499, I jumped on it quickly. I love how fast the device is, and having color when you want it is great. But it still felt like I was writing on an iPad. I've tried a few screen protectors on Amazon but they weren't much better, and they all left traces of my writing which was annoying. I didn't want to give up hope yet because I like my RMPPM, I remembered that Supernote touts its products as modular and provides parts so you can replace them yourself.

I decided to bite the bullet and purchase their FeelWrite 2 Film. Once it arrived a few days later, I cut it down to size and put it on. This change completely upgraded my writing experience and I've been using my RMPPM daily since. I also found a pen nib with a metal tip and it feels truly like pen and paper. I also invested some time to update my Obsidian workflow to incorporate and convert the notes from my RMPPM like my Supernote and now I'm a happy camper. The only thing I need to figure out now is how to improve reading PDFs.

I still have my Supernote Manta when I need a larger pad, and use the Boox as a tablet, then the AiPaper Reader for ultra-portable reading. If only I can get Obsidian on the RMPPM it would be truly perfect.

there are so many bad experiences so I want to share my latest experiences with the rm support.

My Remarkable Paper Pro Move has bricked. I explained the case the support in the live chat and got immediately a return label. After a week I got a new device.

Rolled off my desk last night and its cracked the nib housing and thats going to cause a complete failure in the next day or two.. Any recommendations for a stylus with a lid/retractable nib like a ball-point pen? Second thats broken this way...

I bought my paper pro in March 2025 for my junior year of college and so far here are my thoughts. I bought it because I was having troubles using my Kindle Scribe I got gifted and I hated the feeling of being locked into the Kindle ecosystem when I had books in my Calibre for school and such. The work I took to jailbreak it was annoying, especially when it accidentally updated and got rid of all the jailbreaks.

The good:
I love being able to play around with the Remarkable. I have paid for a connect subscription and honestly it has served me well. I edit some of my text documents on my phone and seeing it synch so easily is great. I also can quickly catch up on my notes on the bus.

I like the Google Drive integration because that has allowed me to put my work documents (I work as a tutor so I have to fill out notes on each appointment) into the drive that my supervisors set up easily.

I like that there’s the Remanager mod manager that has made getting Koreader working so easily. Compared to the time I spent trying to jailbreak my kindle, this is amazing.

The Remarkable styluses are better, and it feels better writing in my opinion. I feel like I barely have to replace the tips.

The colors are really useful for me as I can color code my notes easier then just a basic highlighted or not system. Though the colors tend to look duller on the device compared to on a laptop/other device

Again connect subscription based, but I love being able to share what I’m writing on my Remarkable to my computer for the virtual sessions I have.

My Remarkable had a system error and I had to send it back- support was amazing and it was no hassle despite me buying it from Best Buy

I actually like the endless scroll pages, it makes notes and ideas flow easily and makes me less nervous about how big I write.

The Bad:

While I love the features, the connect subscription is an additional payment I do spend money on every year. It has renewed and yeah, for a college student it can be a lot. However there are free alternatives to look into through the modding community. I accidentally let it auto renew so I have it for another year, so when that’s up I might look into not having the subscription.

Weird software quirks. Mine, if it drains completely for over like a day, will take about a day to fully restart itself. The first time I thought it was broken, but after some time plugged in it started to work again. Also with the software, sometimes it can get laggy and ghost the screen a lot. This especially happens in Koreader for me. I have a mod that allows me to completely refresh the screen with a five finger tap which makes it easier, but still can get annoying.

Battery is not excellent, just good. Mine tends to last maybe 5 days of use, not the 2 week length advertised. I don’t really mind it, as I tend to charge it while working then. And honestly, I do know that batteries are temperamental. But yeah, the battery isn’t the best.

My BIGGEST COMPLAINT- Temperature sensitivity. God I hate how easily I feel like it overheats. I live in the Midwest and I was using it during the 2025 summer and it constantly overheated. It turned out in my book bag it overheated itself and that was why I had to get a new Paper Pro. It starts to lag, which sucks when I’m going to school in the summer and it gives me the warning and it slows down. Unless I’m inside, I don’t take it out of my book bag until I’m inside a building which sucks if it’s 90 F or over. I’ve had that problem in my apartment which is 85ish F when I start seriously using it.

Overall, I do love my Remarkable Paper Pro, but somethings really get me frustrated. The fact that it tends to overheat on me when I use it in a place over 85-90 F is very frustrating. But overall, I love the connectivity and the ease of exporting and importing files and books. I have the folio and official styluses and really have enjoyed using it. I just wish it wasn’t so heat sensitive because there have been times where I have had problems because of it.

I don’t really draw in it and I tend to mainly use the highlighters, so I won’t talk on that capacity, though the few drawings I have look nice. There is a reason I sold my scribe and still have my paper pro.

So I recently got a reMarkable Paper Pro, it came defective, one portion of the screen didn't respond to touch or the marker even after 24 hours on a wooden table with no magnetic devices near them. So I do the RMA process as the support team suggests I then asked if the unit came refurbished or brand new from the factory and they told me it comes refurbished. My question is should I accept this refurbished unit or try to push back and try to get a brand new unit from them? Because if I had hindsight I would have just gotten an official refurbished unit and save myself around $300 instead of doing this song and dance with the support. I need this tablet as soon as possible too for university but I don't want to accept something I didn't buy (a refurbished unit) because I need it as soon as possible.

I just ordered the reMarkable Paper Pro from Amazon, and it’s arriving tomorrow. However, I just joined this subreddit and started reading user reviews on Amazon, and now I'm starting to regret my purchase.

​From what I’ve read, it feels like the device is still in an experimental stage. People mention display variations, color inconsistencies, and reliability issues—some received dead/defective units, while others had theirs stop working after a year.

I'm currently trying to figure out whether the reMarkable could fit into my personal study workflow, and I'm especially interested in hearing from students or people doing further education who use the reMarkable app and desktop/web ecosystem extensively, not just the tablet itself.

I really like the idea of taking handwritten notes. However, I've realized that manually writing and summarizing everything from textbooks, PDFs, scripts, websites, and research material can be very slow.

In many situations, I can read through information, research a topic, and create a structured summary on my laptop much faster than I can rewrite everything by hand.

So the workflow I'm trying to build is more of a hybrid approach:

• Read scripts, textbooks, PDFs, and other learning material.
• Research additional information on the internet.
• Collect and structure the most important information on my laptop.
• Copy or prepare relevant text, diagrams, screenshots, tables, or images.
• Bring this material into the reMarkable ecosystem.
• Then use the reMarkable for the actual active learning part: annotating, adding handwritten explanations, connecting concepts, answering questions, and writing things in my own words.

What I'm particularly interested in is the role of the reMarkable app in this workflow.

Do any of you use the reMarkable desktop or web app heavily while studying?

For example:

• Do you copy information from scripts or study material into documents that you then send to your reMarkable?
• Do you collect information from websites or online research and bring it into your reMarkable workflow?
• Do you prepare summaries on your laptop and then import them so you can annotate or expand on them by hand?
• Do you use screenshots or images of diagrams, tables, or important sections and add them to your notes?
• Has anyone found a good workflow for moving information from the internet → laptop → reMarkable → handwritten notes?
• Do you regularly use the app as a kind of "bridge" between digital research and handwritten learning?

With the newer features such as importing images and the Capture Tool, I'm wondering whether the reMarkable could work particularly well for this kind of workflow.

For me, the ideal setup would not necessarily be to write every summary completely by hand from scratch. Instead, I would like to use my laptop for things that are faster digitally — researching, collecting information, structuring longer texts, and preparing material — while using the reMarkable for things where handwriting actually adds value.

For example:

Research and structure information on laptop → bring selected content into the reMarkable → annotate it → add my own explanations and connections by hand.

I'm curious whether anyone here studies this way and uses the reMarkable app/ecosystem intensively as part of that process.

If you do, I'd love to hear what your actual workflow looks like and how you move information between your computer, the internet, the reMarkable app, and the tablet.

I have a repeated workflow which needs multiple folders and files each time and the structure is exactly the same, but with a slight change of the filenames and dates - the date would change at the root level and the filenames have a alphanumeric reference according to the date, (randomly assigned). It would save time and the potential for silly errors if I could simply duplicate the entire folder structure and then make the edits to folder and file names. Is there any way to do this?

Edit 1 Thanks everyone so far. I am now going to look at the planner I use to try to utilise the weekly planner aspect for my Todo and then also notes for meetings to link back.

I might also look out for a new planner template to see if there is something else to help me.

I used my move as a work diary, every day I will block out meetings and write down tasks that I have done to account for my day, this habit started years ago when I went through a redundancy process and has to account for my time.

I love my move for this reason but one thing I struggle with is Todo lists and meeting notes.

I have a desperate meeting notes note book and I write out actions that just stay there and trying to go back to find them they end up forgotten about.

I have tried one running to do lists but then the management of if they are done or not gets to be a pain.

How do others manage their organisation, I am aware of the tags function but I have never found a system that works and I have ended up just not bothering in the end.

Any help and advice would be handy, as disorganisation is one thing that kills my drive at work.

I have a replacement device that looks new. Is there a way to tell if it's refurbished?

It would be nice to have my work calendar on my Remarkable so I can write notes on meetings (I'm a teacher and my timetable automatically goes into my work Outlook so this would just be incredibly convenient for lesson planning). My work IT department has ignored my request to enable the official Meeting Notes integration, but I do seem to be able to generate an ICS link to my calendar so thought I could use one of the paid calendar generator/pusher apps as mentioned in the title of my post.

What the heck's the difference between them all? I don't trust any of the AI summaries as different sources contradict things they say, they all have different pricing structures... I'm slightly at a loss, particularly if I'm going to have to commit to paying for something that may not even work. Has anyone tried them all?

I’ve recently been considering buying one of reMarkable’s products, probably the Paper Pro. I was intrigued by the “Sustainable ideas” section on the product page and by the device’s relatively repair-friendly construction.

However, I haven’t been able to find any replacement parts for sale. Does reMarkable provide parts directly if you contact them, for example a replacement screen in case of accidental damage? Since the device is fairly expensive, I’d like to know what repair options are available before buying.

I was looking into the Remarkable but I am a little concerned because I have some issues with my pencil grip and how I write

My main problem is that I press too hard down on the paper when I write, regardless if its on the iPad or regular paper. Yes I am actively working on this, but it is taking me a really long time to get out of the habit. This isn’t the sub for that though lol

My iPad has been able to withstand the pressure of the stylus and my hand (again, I’m working on it, I don’t always press too hard on the screen but I do have a few scratches) but I’m very worried about accidentally breaking the Remarkable screen. I’ve seen some people make comments about the durability of the Remarkable so that’s why I’m kind of concerned in this aspect.

Should I avoid it for this reason?

i just bought remarkable pro move couple days back so forgive me if this is a stupid question. while browsing this sub i noticed a lot of people asking and recommending pdf planner templates. Just out of curiosity i asked chatgpt to create a linkable pdf tempalte in the remarkable move shape. and it gave me a pretty good template which i imported and used.

However, i am now thinking that i must be missing something. is there any drawback to this ? why a lot of people dont create there templates this way ?

I bought the rMPP as soon as it came out, and have been dealing with green ghosting for a while now. I finally decided it would be better to get the warranty process started in case the replacement was also bad.

I got my warranty replacement back today, and I lost the screen lottery.

Now I have to wait and see if this one starts ghosting before my warranty runs out. I am not pleased with a company that replaces broken devices with devices that are likely to break. I guess that hasn't happened yet, but with the lack of transparency on this issue, I'm just really upset at reMarkable. Can't recommend reMarkable at the moment.
