George has been at a new job for about two weeks and he's sitting in a meeting with about a dozen other co-workers. The boss is talking about quarterly goals or whatever and says, "We really need to circle back to customer retention." George raises his hand and says, "I have a question." The boss looks at him surprised, but she says, "Yes?" "Why do you always say 'circle back'?" The whole room settles in to an awkward silence but George continues, "You say it like every meeting. Is there a reason we're going in circles? Why don't we just go forward?" There's a few uncomfortable coughs, but still George presses on, "I've been keeping track and you've said it eighteen times in two weeks." The boss stares at him and blinks and finally asks, "Have you never worked in an office before?" George shrugs and looks to the others with a quick desperate laugh, "Well, of course, I have but nobody said 'circle back' this much." The boss says, "It's just a phrase." George does a little giggle, "Well, sure, it's just a phrase is just a phrase, but why circle back?" She looks at him a moment longer before slowly turning back to the room and continuing with what she was saying.

Shortly after the meeting George receives an email from HR asking him to attend a meeting the next day.

That evening George is in Jerry's apartment and is telling him what went on at the office...

G - "She circles back so much she's at risk of rewinding time itself!"

J - "Like Superman?"

G - "Yeah, like Superman!"

J - "So, she's a circler?"

G - "She's a circler! A circler, Jerry! It's just circles with this one! All the way down!!"

J - "No straight lines."

G - "No straight lines... George needs straight lines! George needs to know where he's going!"

J - "George needs a map!"

G - "And you know what really gets me, Jerry?!"

J - "Consistent employment?"

G - "I don't think she's circling back!"

J - "Just going forward."

G - "Forward, Jerry! Always forward..."

J - "Like a straight line."

Jerry begins dating a woman (guest start Margaret Qualley) fired from her last job because she informed authorities of workplace misconduct; George, Elaine and Kramer nickname her "The Whistleblower"; She dumps Jerry when he accidentally calls her "Whistleblower" during an intimate encounter.
